About us Tom Nardacci Principal & Founder Tom Nardacci has over a decade of experience as a public relations strategist, senior public affairs advisor and communications manager. He received his master’s degree in strategic communications from Columbia University and his bachelor’s degree in history from Syracuse University. Prior to launching Gramercy Communications in 2005, Tom directed public relations for the Alliance for Downtown New York, lower Manhattan’s business improvement district, where he served as the organization’s chief spokesperson. His work put specific emphasis on post 9/11 rebuilding and commercial retention and expansion, supporting residential development and retail activities, and tourism outreach. Tom formerly managed communications and organizing for the 40,000 member retiree division of 1199 SEIU, New York State’s largest private sector labor union. Tom directed the retiree division’s annual legislative conference attended by 1,000 members. He served as editor and chief writer for the monthly pension fund newsletter and coordinated marketing communications for retiree chapters throughout New York and Florida. In addition to his work with top New York and national media outlets, Tom has worked with Capital Region media outlets for over a decade. He previously served as Director of Communications for New York State Assembly Majority Leader Ron Canestrari, and managed public relations and legislation for U.S. Congressman Mike McNulty on Capitol Hill. Tom has also served in leadership and consulting roles on dozens of federal, state and regional political campaigns, including as a field coordinator in Iowa for a United States Presidential Candidate. Tom is past President of PRSA Capital Region, and is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA) and the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC).

STRONGER We serve as volunteers, work on business and professional committees, and are public policy advocates. Whether chairing an annual appeal or contributing pro bono public relations work, we have developed strong roots in Tech Valley.

Active volunteers & Sponsors Gramercy Communications founded and sponsors ‘Spring for Kids,’ an annual benefit for needy youth. Tom Nardacci is a Board Member and past Treasurer of the Boys and Girls Club of Albany. He Chaired the 2007 ‘It just takes ONE’ annual appeal that raised nearly $100,000, and again in 2009. He has provided strategic counsel pro-bono to the important non-profit for several years.

Advancing the Communications Profession Tom is past President for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Capital Region Chapter. He started PRSA’s successful ‘Wednesday Workshop’ series and helped launch the first ever ‘Empire Awards’. Tom has also served as a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA) ‘Mark of Excellence’ awards committee. Gramercy Communications provides opportunities for college students in the communications field. We have an active paid internship program, for MBA students and college seniors. Gramercy Communications sponsored a YouTubetm contest to encourage young people to vote. The $1000 cash prize was divided among two college students and a local drama group.

Regional Planning & Public Policy Advocacy Tom Nardacci serves as a member of the Town of Colonie Planning Board, one of the Capital Region’s largest municipalities. Gramercy Communications was also proud to be a sponsor of the city of Albany’s Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) program.
