The Town of Huntersville received a grant from GameTime through Cunningham Recreation in the amount of $47,800. The playground at Holbrook Park is one of our most heavily used playgrounds. The removal of the old playground was completed late July and the installation of the new one began on July 27th. The installation was done as a community build project with the Huntersville Presbyterian Church and was completed early/mid August. Stop by and play! The HPRD received two USTA grants for the resurfacing of the Holbrook Park Tennis Complex. As a part of this resurfacing project permanent quick start lines were added to help keep up with the growth of youth tennis that has occurred at the town’s first quick start tennis complex that opened at the North Meck Park in March of 2011. The town was fortunate enough to not only receive the $16,000 from the USTA National Office, but also received another $7,000 from the USTA North Carolina section through the Raise the Net Grant Program. The Department previously received a $40,000 grant from USTA for the development of the courts at North Meck Park. The Holbrook Park Tennis Complex was reopened on June 14, 2013 just in time for the 2013 USTA 18+ Adult State Championships that were hosted at both Holbrook Park and North Meck Park for the first time through the Lake Norman Tennis Association.

The Lake Norman Ducks Youth Football and Cheer program is a national member of the American Youth Football Organization. As an independent association we are striving to be the premier youth football program in the Huntersville-Lake Norman area for kids between the ages of 6 and 13 years old. Our program will be family centric as the coaches, parents and players will all be encouraging forces in our program. Our program will build character development through the disciplines found in football, which include respect for coaches, teammates and our opponents. In addition, the values of honesty, commitment, work ethic, sportsmanship, pride and integrity will also be guiding principles. These values are the essence of a successful football team and serve as the basis for success in all of life's endeavors. These principles will not only develop good football players, but better students, and most importantly great individuals. For more information on our program please visit us at www.lknyouthfootball.org or you may email us at info@lknyouthfootball.org The Lake Norman Giants participates in Pop Warner Football. Pop Warner is the largest and most recognized youth football league in America. The Lake Norman Giants are the 2nd largest Pop Warner organization in North Carolina with more than 400 players and cheerleaders each season. There are approximately 20 Pop Warner related organizations in the greater Charlotte area making up the Pop Warner Little Panthers organization. The governing body for all these associations is the Mecklenburg Optimist Club. The Lake Norman Giants offers tackle football at five distinct levels of play. The age and weight matrix is designed to maximize safety while allowing similar size and age kids to compete in tackle football. The Giants have won many conference titles and several Optimist Bowl Championships! Most importantly, we are teaching kids life lessons. We are Preparing Champions for Life!
