Victor Manuel Munoz Garcia Festhome is born in 2011 as an idea, an intimate project of two film-makers, Daniel Fenaux and Moisés Tuñón, who were extremely discontent and dissatisfied with the then existing online submission platforms and the way film-makers could communicate with and submit their films to film festivals. The idea turned into a full scale project in the beginning of 2012, with a Beta version of the platform. At the end of the Summer, 2012, Víctor M. Muñoz, another film-maker who had studied at a film school years before with both Festhome's senior partners, is brought into the project as Communications Manager. At the end of 2012, Festhome launches its first fully operational version, and starts to find its place within the world of film festivals and film-makers, taking a great deal of pride in the fact that the missing closeness of rapport festivals and film-makers had with older online submission platforms is no longer missing with Festhome, and also in the fact that the service Festhome provides is ackowledged as most user friendly and lowest in costs by festivals and film-makers.

I keep looking into myself if Madrid is my city. I came here more than 7 years ago from a place 9546 km. far away. With the daylight I feel foreigner no matter nobody can tell unless I speak.

On the lush premises of the Film and Television Institute of India, under the long shadow of the erstwhile Prabhat Studio, an important chapter in the history of Indian cinema quietly passes on from one generation of studio workers to the next. Stories galore, a few of them already legendary — some are slipping away into oblivion, countless others beg recall. This student film humbly started with a wish to bring together some of the oldest witnesses from the Prabhat era, but in the course of its making, after sifting through historical documents and personal chronicles, what has emerged is just this: What is it that truly lives on?

“Those who tried to put the rainbow back in the sky” tells the story of three people and a duck that, being on a ship of concrete in a wait condition, accidentally found a piece of rainbow fallen from the sky. In doubt about the origin and the destiny of the rainbow, then they decide to put the rainbow back in the sky. As in ancient Greek theatrical representations of tragedies, everything in this video takes place in one day which also coincides with the real length of the video shoots. However, is impossible to decipher the historical time, as it is rather a "lived time" which allow us to reflect only upon the final act that dramatically suspends any judgment and brings any thought back to its origin. Under normal circumstances, adolescence is a difficult field to navigate, but for an undersized, child-like boy with dysfunctional parents, it can be a minefield of isolation. Based on the novel, "The Book of Intimate Grammar" by David Grossman, Israeli director Nir Bergman's powerful film Intimate Grammar is the heartbreaking story of a boy stuck in an endless childhood with no obvious means of escape. First prize winner at the Jerusalem and Tokyo Film Festivals, Intimate Grammar is the follow up to Bergman's 2002 film, Broken Wings, a critically-acclaimed effort about an Israeli family attempting to cope with the death of its patriarch.

Our hero refuses to leave his kingdom and decides to fight till the bitter end.

Pietro is a 14 year old kid that like many others is living that intense and magical period of life that goes from childhood to adolescence. Its Christmas time in Milan and the house where he lives with his mother and the memory of his dead father is silent and uninteresting. A glance in the mirror and the finding of an old coat that his father used to wear marks just the beginning of his realization that something new and “turbulent is coming into his life. The desire to grow up, the curiosity and enchantment for what he is just starting to experience inside himself pushes him towards a simple but incredible adventure. Pietro is invisible to most of the people around him and that is what makes him the perfect observer of the outside world. He invites us to follow him through places and experiences and see people that we probably have met before in our life, but that we quickly forgot about: a world of simple beautiful things.

The Latin word for tattoo is stigma. Be it a rite of passage, a status symbol, pledges of love, sentimental, religious, spiritual, or simply a mark of decoration. This film challenges the stereotypical view of tattoos and the type of people who have them. The film is driven by a colourful host of characters, including a tattoo artist in London as he talks about his work. We see him explaining the process and the variety of clients he's decorated. Other characters give the reasons behind having tattoos, including a retired GP (doctor) who only began decorating his body with ink after he turned 60. Another man has huge wings tattooed on his back, which he says, he'd always wanted to have in order to fly away from his miserable childhood. An old sailor tells some stories about the, now withered, tattoo's he received at sea. A Muslim banker explains and shows her secret tattoo, which is against her religion, a tormented man has covered a sign he used to have of Lucifer with hands in prayer, and a married couple explain why they decided to tattoo their wedding bands. The film attempts to get beneath the skin of the people who bear these marks.

THE BEST OF NORMAN McLAREN

Nominated Oscar

Norman McLaren was born in Stirling, Scotland, on April 11, 1914. As a high school student, he developed a particular interest in painting. At the age of 18, he entered the Glasgow School of Art to study interior design, but he did not earn a diploma. His enthusiasm for student filmmaking prevented him from completing assignments. Although he was a moviegoer, it was not until McLaren was at the art school and joined a film society and saw the Russian films of Eisenstein and Pudovkin that cinema took a new place for him in the cultural hierarchy. That was 1934.I thought what a great medium! It was exciting and I said if you can do that, why bother with drawing and painting. They’ve been around for two thousand years at least, but here is a new art, just begun, which is the art of today – and painting is the art of the past.In the same year, McLaren saw an abstract film by Oscar Fischinger, the German animator, which was also a revelation for him. McLaren used to see abstractions in his mind as he listened to music. With film, he realized he could make these abstractions visible. His mind was made up and he joined a newly formed filmmaking club at the art school. He became the mainspring of this club, and he displayed an original and indefatigably energetic talent which, apparently, ran his co-workers off their feet. His student films were mainly live-action; he was fascinated by the movie camera and sought to exploit it to its maximum. | 87

A day in the life of a foreign student in a new educational environment and society. Problems mount as his classmates bully him and teachers show a lack of understanding, whilst at home he faces neglect from his parents. Facing bullying at school and neglect from his absent parents, Gimi make the decision to leave town and visit his aunt.

"Rrezik" departs from the poem “Danger Risk Hazard Jeopardy Peril” by the American poet Bruce Andrews. It forms an attempt to address the risk inherent in language manifested in poetry in relation to the risk inherent in public space manifested in monumental sculpture. Filmed at four monumental locations in Tirana, it traces the different time of monumentality in the city. The film was commissioned by Marco Mazzi and the Luigi Pecci Center for Contemporary Art.

Contemporary Albania is at a turning point in its history. Whether it is about a child, an architect, or a European representative, the relationship between the body and space is at the core of the social organisation and political challenges. As it adopts three viewpoints ranging from close-up view to overview, this animated documentary calls into question the criteria a civil society is grounded on, at the very moment when it is coming into existence.

He says that we learn by looking. And so he goes to Albania and looks and learns. As a filmmaker, he will learn in particular through looking at Albanian films and paintings.

Nicolas Roeg

screeni

When he made his directorial debut in 1970, Nicolas Roeg was already a 23-year veteran of the British film industry, starting out in 1947 as an editing apprentice and working his way up to cinematographer twelve years later. He first came to attention as part of the second unit on David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia (1962), with Roger Corman's The Masque of the Red Death (1964) two years later containing his first really distinctive solo work. He went on to photograph films for such distinguished directors as François Truffaut (Fahrenheit 451 (1966)), John Schlesinger (Far from the Madding Crowd (1967)) and Richard Lester (Petulia (1968)) before his sensational directorial debut in 1968. Co-directed with writer (and painter) Donald Cammell Performance (1970) was intended to be a simple-minded star vehicle for Mick Jagger and Warner Bros were so horrified when they saw the final multi-layered kaleidoscope of sex, violence, and questions of identity that they delayed its release for two years. Roeg went to Australia for his solo debut as director (Walkabout (1971)), which was also his last film as cinematographer, and throughout the next decade he produced a world-class body of work (Don't Look Now (1973); The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976); Bad Timing: A Sensual Obsession (1980) that revealed his uniquely off-kilter view of the world, expressed through fragmented, dislocated images and a highly original yet strangely accessible approach to narrative. He married the star of Bad Timing: A Sensual Obsession (1980), the elegant Theresa Russell who would play the female lead in nearly all his subsequent films, though these have generally found less favor with critics and audiences, and the release of both Eureka (1983) and Cold Heaven (1991) was severely restricted due to problems with the films' distributors.

How Strange to be Named Federico: Scola narrates Fellini The film is a reminiscence/portrait of Federico Fellini, put together by Ettore Scola on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the director's death. In addition to the richness of the movies made by a peerless master—now the common heritage of audiences all over the world—a devoted admirer recalls the privilege of having known him and the emotions that he stirred in those who listened to him, with his irony and his reflections on “life being a party. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Fellini's death, a month after the premiere at the Venice Film Festival, we thought that it would be a unique opportunity to display on the big screen of TIFF the last biographic film by Maestro Ettore Scola for the Great Federico Fellini. ANIMATIFF VISANIMATION workshop will be held from Vincenzo Gioanola, animator and lecturer with over 30 years experience in this field. It will demonstrate to the audience the realization of a short film/trailer in 35mm technique over 8 hours that will last workshop. ABOUT Vincenzo Gioanola: since the late '70s he work in the field of animated films both as an author and as a teacher for different kinds of partecipants. He propose a workshop of 8-10 hours (spread over 2 or 3 days) for the realization of an animated film involving the audience of the festival. We will use the technique of direct drawing on 35 mm film, a technique that he was able to explore and perfect during more than 30 years of experience in this field. With this technique you can achieve amazing results with a minimum of equipment and in short time and the finished film (edited and set to music by him) could be screened during the final evening of the festival. Participants (no experience required) will draw several clips of 1 second (25 frames) for the creation of cyclic movements, such as in the ancient zoetropes. The theme of the movie can be free, centered on a specific topic or, for example, aimed at the creation of the festival’s trailer. He has done similar workshops: "Comincio da zero” (Filmmakers Festival at the Cloister of Pordenone, Italy - Participants from 20 to 60 years) "Drawing on film!" (Osaka European Film Festival, Japan - Participants from 18 to 30 years) "Poznan Workshop” (Animator Festival in Poznan, Poland - Participants from 5 to 14 years) "Thirteen Snails” (Golden Snail Festival of Vranje, Serbia - Participants from 5 to 16 years) All the details regarding the workshop (materials needed, costs, process, etc.) will be communicated if there is an interest on your part in his proposal.
