Reflection... A

s help to reflect on this past year, some of us will be thinking how we survived another challenging year and hope next year will be better for our families, friends and ourselves because we all have been effected by this recession, one way or another. No one has avoided it completely. Perhaps this would a good time to take inventory of our lives, asking what is real, what is superficial, and what really matters in our lives. Search and evaluate the true meaning of Thanksgiving and Christmas. In past the holiday season was about getting or giving gifts and at times put ourselves in debt without concerning how we have programmed ourselves into doing this year after year. During our reflection dig deeper inside ourselves and look within our own backyards and acknowledge we may have family members, friends, neighbors and stranger that need help or assistance. If we are unable to help monetarily, a kind word or time can change someone’s life forever. The amazing thing about giving is the rewards that we will receive, which is priceless. >> Robert D. A Fallen Soldier who’s only dream was to always help others At the age of 19, PFC Marcus Allen Tynes was killed in Zabul Province, Afghanistan by a roadside bomb while serving in the United States Army. He had served his country for 16 months. PFC Tynes joined the Army, not only because he loved his country, but he knew that the Army would afford him the opportunity to further his education as well as fulfill his thrill for action. The Army was not his first experience with action, while in grade school he volunteered for the Moreno Valley Police Explorers. The Explorers is a program that helps young students to gain a taste of what is means to be a Police Officer and become participants in their community. During his time as an Explorer, he had the opportunity to participate in several traffic safety check points and community service events with sworn Police Officers. PFC Tynes loved volunteering and the Explorers were his way of interacting with his fellow teammates while doing something that he enjoyed: helping and serving others. His ultimate goal in life was to return from the Army and go to college in order to obtain his Criminal Justice degree and become a Police Officer, S.W.A.T Officer and then finally promote to Lead Detective. PFC Tynes’ goal was always to protect the innocent and joining the Army would have given him the means as well as the drive to continue his pursuit of justice and safety for all. PFC Marcus Tynes followed his dreams and never stopped believing in and helping others. To whomever this scholarship is awarded to, we hope that you will preserve PFC Tynes’ memory and continue to help others and pursue your educational dreams.

2nd St. Bistro-Best Chessecake The best way to describe Second Street Bistro food, like a beautiful woman that passed your path and her scent lingers in the air, as a reminder of her presence. Each item longs together wonderfully and blends perfectly. The taste stays with you long after you have finished your meal. You cannot leave without a piece of the cheese cake. The texture is perfect and very light, a cross between

ice cream and crème brulee this is one dessert you will not want to share. The Owner Tony Granillo, a former commercial real estate broker was assisting a client searching for a restaurant to purchase. They located Second Street Bistro and when Tony’s client changed her mind, he fell in love with the restaurant and Downtown Pomona’s direction. “I was so impressed with Downtown Pomona Owners Association and all the exciting plans for the area. I decided to take a chance and open a restaurant.” The Downtown Pomona Owners Association actively promotes Metro Pomona area and draws thousands of visitors year round to the Arts Colony, Pomona’s Antiques Row, and Entertainment venues such as the Pomona Fox Theater. Metro Pomona is home to a huge collection of galleries, shops and artist lofts with weekly Farmers Markets, Art Walks and Car Shows. Metro Pomona has the feel of a small urban village with all types of places to call home offering cultural attractions, restaurants, shops just a short walk away.

Thank You, Imaging Plus! In the past The Grove has used several vendors for our copying, printing, scanning and faxing needs and no one comes close to the level of customer service and support we’ve received from Imaging Plus, Inc. The sales team paid special attention to our organization’s current and future needs. While reducing our overall expenses, Imaging Plus proposed the perfect solutions and we could not be happier with having selected Imaging Plus as our vendor of choice. The Ricoh copier/printer systems have greatly improved our document flow. Their reliability, quality and speed enable us to accomplish our printing and copying tasks effectively and with much ease.
