Run to the Jerry Run Summer Theater This Summer If you enjoy summer concerts at the Jerry Run Summer Theater then you’re in for a treat this year. Blue Man Group will be coming to the Jerry Run Theater for a one-night show. The show will be rolling into town and performing at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 1. Blue Man Group, if you don’t already know, is known for its shows and concerts that are a combination of music, comedy and theatrics that produce a totally exceptional form of entertainment. This group will be coming to the Jerry Run to raise some more money for the Hacker Valley School. The Jerry Run Theater constructed by Dusty Anderson was built after a series of benefit concerts raised thousands of dollars to save Hacker Valley School from consolidation. After the school was saved, Dusty realized that building a theater would be successful for the West Virginia town. Anderson used his skills and erected the building mainly on his own with small amounts of help from town-folk when they could pitch in the time. After ten years of working hard the goal was accomplished, and was it worth it. He was right about it being successful because for the past eight seasons, going on nine, musicians and listeners have come to the theater. 2011 marks the first time such a well-known performer will be walking through its doors. Blue Man Group will be coming to raise money to now update the school. After it was saved from consolidation from benefit concerts, the hope is that Blue Man Group can raise enough money to renovate, update textbooks and update technology. Typically the average show attracts 90 people but the logic is that such a well-known performance will fill all 150 seats and possibly provide standing room only as well. Tickets will rise from $5 to $20 for this one-time show. ###
