PAUL HAMILTON Recent Landscapes and Still Lifes

Front Cover: JulyPastoral Oil on panel 20 x 24 inches
$3,900
Jim and I are pleased to present a recent suite of painterly fresh landscapes by Paul Hamilton in our third one person exhibition of his singular visions. There is a tranquility about Paul’s art that imbues the viewer with nature's enduring quality. His exhibition, PaulHamilton:PoetryofPlace, January 30-April 18, 2010 at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio was very perceptively and positively reviewed by Amy Davis of The Columbus Dispatch. She states “Each depiction of the Ohio landscape reveals a narrative of the land. His goal with the paintings, Hamilton said, is to ‘reach for deeper emotional meaning. I was on a mission to reveal my connection to this part of the world.’ Light and its application are common themes in Hamilton’s landscapes. (TheColumbusDispatch , 2010)
We will also be featuring two brilliant still lifes of sunflowers that shimmer in the light with their bright citron hues and animated foliage.
We look forward to enjoying this select group of paintings by Paul with you as Spring arrives.

Whether painting summer sunsets, stark winter trees, aging but stalwart barns or spring foliage, Paul Hamilton captures his adopted state of Ohio in all of its seasons. His . . . accurate depictions have made him one of the state’s most beloved landscape painters.

Throughout his body of work, Hamilton’s command of the subtleties of reflected light is perhaps most keenly revealed in his treatment of white tones. The acutely rendered gradations of warmth and coolness in skies, sails, snow-covered hills and whitewashed fences are the result of intense and patient observation.
