That was close to what was thought at the time to have been the building’s original location. “In the 1880s, the school had been located at the crest of the lot, where the fountain is now, in the park,” Shapiro said. “It sat on the high point. But the city, in the 1970s, wanted to put it at the corner because they wanted at that time to build a fire station on the highest point of the lot.”

Through Shapiro’s efforts, the museum eventually was relocated to its current location at the corner of College Street and Temple Avenue, close to what was thought at the time to have been the building’s original location. may/june 2014
