RYA Practical Courses RYA practical courses can be delivered for professional commercial users, leisure users or just to increase your knowledge, confidence and ability on the water. From Powerboat Level 2 to Yachtmaster (power) Offshore Examination preparation and on to bespoke boating training. Our instructors have a wealth of experience from around the world to share with you.

RYA Powerboat course Level 2 - This two-day course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat, including safety, close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery, basic chart introduction and collision regulations. RYA Intermediate Powerboat Course - These two days cover more advanced boat handling, pilotage and passage planning by day on coastal waters using traditional and electronic navigation techniques. It is recommended for anyone aspiring to complete the Advanced Course. RYA Advanced Powerboat - Includes navigation by day and night, understanding the weather and other aspects of skippering a small boat on more challenging passages in coastal waters. For commercial, use the Advanced Powerboat Certificate of Competence (Exam) is required.

RYA Yachtmaster Coastal – 5 days minimum. Develops the skills to safely skipper a motor cruiser on coastal passages by day and night. Builds confidence to make good decisions and safely manage a crew. An MCA approved assessment is available if required, giving an industry acknowledged qualification. RYA Yachtmaster Offshore – Suggested duration is 5 days minimum, dependent upon experience. Builds the skills needed to skipper a motor cruiser on offshore passages by day and night within 150 miles of the nearest harbour. Course prerequisite for the Yachtmaster Offshore assessment preparation training and for the 8-12 hour Yachtmaster (Power) Offshore Examination.
