AMENITIES THE SPA AT TIMBERS KAUAI Inspired by the Polynesian culture centered on the balance and wisdom of nature, the Spa at Timbers Kauai weaves ancient healing traditions with the bounty of island botanicals to inspire “lokahi”, harmony of body and spirit. The Garden Isle is abundant with “Canoe Plants,” plants originally brought to Hawaii by the early Polynesians traveling by canoe. Our spa incorporates these precious ingredients to create thoughtfully crafted spa treatments designed to restore and support balance. Each spa experience is unique and tailored to our guests. Advance reservations are encouraged. Our concierge is delighted to share our full spa menu and schedule your appointments in advance of your arrival. Located adjacent to the ‘ohana pool deck on the ground level of the Maliula building,

FITNESS CENTER Open seven days a week from 5:00 AM - 10:00 PM and located adjacent to the Spa, our fitness center features state-ofthe-art Technogym equipment, complete with a full cardio and strength training program that emphasizes functional fitness and kinetic movements. We are at your service to provide tours of the facility and to support your fitness goals. Our fitness specialist is available five days a week Sunday - Thursday offering a variety of complimentary and personalized training programs.

THE FARM The Farm at Hokuala makes good on the “farm to table” promise, and in true Timbers style, it’s as close as close can be. Farmer Cody Meyer oversees the Farm, currently under development. Producing fruits and vegetables native to Kauai, including the 12 traditional canoe crops, the Farm aims to support ingredients that come to our restaurant, bar and spa. Beyond the benefits of conservation, fresh ingredients, and agri-education, the Farm at Hokuala serves as the cornerstone of our Ahupua‘a (village), making the sense of home even stronger, and your family’s place in it.

THE POOLS Timbers Kauai features two pools to fit whatever mood you’re in. Over at Kaiholo, relax in the serene, two-tiered infinity pool with breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific, Ninini Point and Ha’upu Mountains. And at Maliula, enjoy the fun ‘ohana pool, complete with waterfalls and plunge zone, next to Nalu’s and our family game lawn. POOL HOURS 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM

DINING HELE MAI ‘AI (COME AND EAT) The food and beverage program at Timbers Kauai is purely driven and influenced by the relationship between farmer and their harvest, rancher and their cattle and fisherman and their catch. Approachable, thoughtful, and creative, Hualani’s Restaurant delivers a fully integrated dining experience that is served in an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. We believe in supporting our local purveyors whose passion for responsible and sustainable farming practices mirror our passion for food and beverage.

HUALANI’S The dining experience at Hualani’s draws on the palate that the seasons dictate, what’s fresh is what’s on for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition to a variety of simply prepared ‘cuts’ from our local partner butcher, our culinary experience is inspired by a sense of place and driven by local suppliers and our menu shows it. Maybe you just want to have a good burger, we’ve got you covered there too. BREAKFAST HOURS: 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM | LUNCH HOURS: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM DINNER HOURS: 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM

THE BAR AT HUALANI’S Our philosophy is simple: to deliver well-balanced craft cocktails that complement the seasonality of the kitchen. Where possible, we use ingredients sourced right out our back door at the Farm at Hokuala and we don’t believe that the kitchen is the only ‘star’ of the food and beverage experience. Join us for our daily pau hana between 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM. BAR HOURS 11:00 AM - CLOSE

NALU’S In Hawaiian, nalu means wave and at Nalu’s, grabbing a convenient meal is as easy as catching one of Kauai’s epic breaks. The casual grab and go style menu at Nalu’s features light salads, hot and cold sandwiches and wraps along with an array of snacks to enjoy poolside or on the go to your next island adventure.

FARMERS TASTING MENU Every Thursday join Chef Jafet as he prepares a three-course menu with ingredients harvested from the Farm at Hokuala and picked up that day from our partner farms. Wine pairings available.

FRIED CHICKEN SUNDAY Each Sunday night, join us at Hualani’s for $7 fried chicken and waffles. Chef Jafet’s pineapple marinated chicken with chili-koi sauce served with a jalapeno-baconcheddar waffle is a must-experience mouth-watering meal.

IN-RESIDENCE DINING We understand that you don’t need to go out every night, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t enjoy a chef prepared meal. For the nights you want to relax on your own lanai, don’t lift a finger to cook, but rather delight in our catered in-suite dining experience, allowing 24-hour notice.

At the end, you’ll be making a personal plant and a farm bouquet to take home and share with your ohana.

SUNSET SESSIONS Gather at the Maliula fire pit for a weekly pau hana to celebrate the end of the day. Enjoy live music, pupus and signature cocktails. While watching the sun slip behind the Ha‘upu mountains, meet members of the local Kauai community and learn more about the benefits of sharing Kauai’s newest oceanfront residential offering with friends and family.

GUIDED NATURE HIKES When you dream of Kauai you might imagine days spent at the beach, sipping Mai-Tais, but you absolutely must look inland - at least for one day - to experience the waterfalls, wildlife, and wondrous tropical flowers hiding in the jungles. Because on this island, there are as many pearls beyond the trees as there are beneath the sea.

RESORT ACTIVITIES CRUISING THE TRAILS Kauai can be explored in many ways, but two-wheeling is one of our favorites. Explore the 17 miles of trails within Hokuala and if you like, we can accompany you to highlight the flora, fauna and the must-see endangered species. We can even prepare a picnic so you can make a day of it! Feeling adventurous? Outside of the resort, one of our favorite bike trips is Kauai’s Coconut Coast. You can take a leisurely ride along the ocean, or if you are up for more of a challenge, try mountain biking to reach more secluded vistas.

WEEKLY FITNESS EXCURSIONS Our Adventure Guides will select from a fantastic array of outdoor activities. You will hike trails that take you deep into the heart of Kauai, discovering your own private waterfall. Paddling a kayak in the Pacific or up the Wailua River are unforgettable experiences. Whatever the adventure, every last detail is taken care of so come ready for fun and adventure.

BARRE CLASSIC A combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines like yoga and Pilates. An excellent workout to help tone your body in record time!

FLOW YOGA A popular form of yoga uniting breath and movement in a choreographed sequence.

SHORELINE SNORKEL TOUR Beginning in April, you won’t believe the color, activity, and energy underwater! On our snorkel tour, not only is a dip in the warm Pacific while viewing the countless species of underwater wildlife thrilling, it’s educational! At the very least you will be able to pronounce humuhumunukunukuapuaaʻa, Hawaii’s state fish, without missing a beat.

WATERFALL TOURS Touring Kauai’s numerous waterfalls are well-worth the trip. Join our adventure guides on a journey to two private waterfalls nestled in the Hule’ia National Wildlife Refuge. Surrounded by bamboo forest and lush, tropical foliage, this excursion has become a true highlight of everyone’s visit!

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES LEI MAKING AND ORIGINS The lei custom was introduced to the Hawaiian Islands by early Polynesian voyagers, who took an incredible journey from Tahiti, navigating by the stars in sailing canoes. With these early settlers, the lei tradition in Hawaii was born. Join native Aunties to learn how to make your own leis (both Haku and Lei Po‘o) and to discover the fascinating origins of different types of leis.

TALK STORY SERIES Join staff and local community members as they ‘talk story,’ the local way of sharing stories and fond memories of their time on-island. Discover insider tips while becoming immersed in the melodic Hawaiian-style way of creating pilina, a deep and meaningful relationship. Speakers range from employees who have been on the land for over quarter of a century, lifeguards, surfboard shapers, underwater photography experts, local farmers and more.

THE TRADITION OF HULA Hula is more than just a dance – it is an artistic representation of Hawaiian life and culture, where every movement, expression and gesture has meaning. Representing plants, animals and natural elements, the hula is a beautiful flowing narrative filled with deeply felt emotion.

RAINY DAY ACTIVITIES RAINY DAY - THE INSIDER’S AGENDA The “Garden Island” of Kauai wouldn’t be as green, its soil as fertile, if it weren’t for a few tropical rain showers every now and again. Sometimes throwing on your flip flops and a light jacket is the most energizing change of pace, reminding us all that you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain. At Timbers Kauai, we’ve put together such an exciting list of inside activities that your rainy day in Kauai might just be your favorite.

MUSEUMS Old Koloa Town Historical Center - learn about the island’s rich historical past as Hawaii’s first sugar plantation by examining artifacts, photographs and memoirs. A few others we recommend: Grove Farm Homestead & Sugar Plantation Museum, Kauai Museum and Kōke‘e Natural History Museum.

SHOPPING Poʻipū is chock-full of amazing boutiques, shops and clothing stores. From the shops along Old Koloa Town to the Poʻipū Shopping Center and The Shops at Kukuiula, shoppers can find some of Kauai’s best jewelry, clothing, artwork and local souvenirs. Don’t miss the local’s favorite t-shirt shop, Aloha Exchange.

THE SPA AT TIMBERS KAUA‘I Escape the rain by treating yourself to a day at our island-inspired Spa. The Spa weaves ancient healing traditions with the bounty of island botanicals to inspire “lōkahi” – harmony of body and spirit. Our knowledgeable staff can help customize your massage, wraps and facials.

KEIKI ADVENTURES BIG ADVENTURES FOR THE LITTLE ONES You deserve a relaxing vacation. That is why we have developed programs that give both kids and adults the opportunity to experience meaningful activities that incorporate exercise, culture and fun. Integrating play with culture, kids learn through art about endangered Hawaiian monk seals and Nene (Hawaii’s state bird), and through crafts about palm frond weaving and haku lei making like Native Hawaiians of old. A splashing good time will be had at the pool (always a favorite)! For our older kids (ages 8-15), island excursions are tailored to the groupʻs abilities and interests. Babysitting services are available upon request. Please inquire with the concierge for scheduling and fees.

TROPICAL FARM EXPERIENCE Dinner will never taste better after your kids spend time at the Farm with Farmer Cody. Located on property, the Farm at Hokuala provides our restaurant and spa with fresh, local ingredients, and it’s a delight to work alongside Cody who is incredibly passionate about his work. It’s educational, but exciting too! Your kids will learn where food comes from, get their hands dirty and maybe even help create a culinary masterpiece for you to enjoy.

TIMBERS TYKES ROOM Outfitted with couches, beanbags, TV and games, the Timbers Tykes Room is a favorite of our littlest guests, providing a fun play space for children 8 and under. The chalkboard wall offers children a canvas to create their most imaginative masterpieces. The bookcases are filled with storybooks, coloring books, games and toys, and there is always something fun playing on the multi-media big screen.

KIDS TENNIS CLINIC Have your kids join our small, group clinic led by our USPTA instructor John Crouse. This fun and engaging clinic is a weekly favorite for the little ones and covers all areas of the game. All experience levels are welcome.

LIL TIGERS The Golf Pros at the Ocean Course welcome your junior golfer. Kids will learn basic fundamentals of the game followed by a fun putting and chipping contest.

GUIDED BIKE TRIPS Explore the 17 miles of trails within Hokuala on a guided bike tour. Your knowledgeable local guide will highlight the flora, fauna and must-see endangered species!

NATURE HIKES What better way to get to know Kauai than from a bird’s-eye view? How about getting to know the birds themselves? Take a hike with our adventure guides as they point out local flora and fauna, combining ecological science with ancient Hawaiian legends.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES Arts and crafts, Kauai-style. Your little ones will delight in painting coconuts or making shell bracelets as souvenirs for their friends. Maybe they want to play ukulele, or learn to hula, if it’s a Hawaiian tradition, we’re happy to show them the ropes, and welcome them into our ‘ohana. Enjoy an ever-evolving variety of authentic crafts for tykes to embrace aloha.

INSIDER’S ISLAND GUIDE Though you could spend a week enjoying the amenities of Timbers Kauai, and exploring on the nearby Kalapaki Beach, there’s an entire island of adventure waiting for you. And like the locals, you’ll want to experience what the Hawaiians call “holoholo,” a breath of fresh air out on the ocean, on the hiking trail, or behind a fishing line, which sometimes requires going off the path. With Timbers Kauai serving as your centrally located basecamp to island adventure, day trips to the North Shore, East Side, South Shore and West Side are incredibly easy to make, the only difficult decision (and the only one you are responsible for) is what to do first. Hand pick your favorites from our insider’s guide and your concierge will curate a personalized itinerary so you can get out and adventure like we do.

A DAY NORTH There are so many wonderful things about the North Shore of Kauai. The mountains are unmatched in their sheer majesty, beaches are exquisite and life simply slows down. There are several one-lane bridges on the North Shore so don’t be in a hurry to get anywhere. The beautiful and quaint surf town on Hanalei is full of water-sport (and bikini) shops, eclectic boutiques and local flair. On Saturday, Hanalei Town hosts one of the largest farmers markets on island at 9:30 PM until noon at Waioli Park. If you are slow making your way to Hanalei, stop at Anaina Hou Park next to Kīlauea Mini Golf for a wonderful farmer’s market from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Hanalei town is a great spot for lunch. Recent severe weather has limited travel beyond Hanalei town, but most businesses in Hanalei are open. Check with our concierge for their dining recommendations of the day to take most advantage of your time in Hanalei. Before you head south, stop by Wishing Well Shave Ice for a delicious fresh fruit shave ice—an island staple!

DINING ON THE NORTH SHORE Spending the evening on the North shore? Piazza in Princeville, or Bar Acuda in Hanalei are wonderful options for dinner or drinks. If neither of those pique your interest, our concierge has plenty of other recommendations. Bar Acuda is a great spot for a date night, if you’d like to arrange for an evening without the kids. The menu features eclectic tapas inspired by Mediterranean cuisine and changes seasonally to source local fish and fresh ingredients. Try the North Shore honeycomb and goat cheese with crisp apples. Bar Acuda is a little more chic and a little less… Tommy Bahama, but after sampling the amazing wine and cocktails you won’t be concerned about style. Reservations recommended. Open nightly from 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM Piazza sources only fresh ingredients for their flatbreads, pastas, and entrees. The pastas and pizzas are made in house daily and have options that the whole family will enjoy. The atmosphere is friendly and lively. Reservations recommended. Open nightly 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM The Palate Wine Bar located in Kīlauea serves simple small plates and flatbread, which are the secondary to the esoteric wine list sourced from around the world. We recommend ordering a cheese and charcuterie plate and asking the server for their wine pairing recommendations. Epicureans will love this unfussy spot in the historic Kong Long building. Open daily from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM

A DAY EAST Timbers Kauai is located in the Hokuala Resort near Līhuʻe and Kalapakī beach, your home beach! Kalapakī beach is the perfect place to learn how to surf, SUP or snorkel (and much more!) from the Kauai Beach Boys, as the water is calm and the undertow is minimal. One of Kauai’s most majestic waterfalls, Wailua Falls is a short 10-minute drive from Timbers Kauai. Wailua Falls doesn’t require a hike to reach, just park and stroll over to capture an awesome shot. For those little adventurers who just can’t wait to start exploring, this is a good first day option. Though Wailua Falls is easy to access, some enjoy a bit of an adventure before arriving at a waterfall. We recommend kayaking the Wailua river about three miles to the Uluwehi (often called Secret) falls. This is a popular trip to make, so our concierge prefers to pre-arrange your kayaks with Kayak Kauai or Kayak Wailua. If kayaking sounds too involved, perhaps floating down the open canals and amazing tunnels of former hand dug sugar plantation irrigation flumes is more your family’s speed. Kauai Backcountry Adventures offers a relaxing and inspiring tubing experience down amazing tunnels and flumes that were dug in the 1870s. The adventure ends with a picnic lunch and a chance to swim in a natural swimming hole. Let us know in advance if you’d like to take this trip or the 3-hour zipline tour that Kauai Backcountry Adventures offers as these adventure book up fast. If you’re looking for a bit of local flair, Kapaʻa (just 8 miles north of Timbers Kauai) is a great place to start. We encourage you to park and walk through town to explore the shops and eateries. If you happen to be in Kauai on the first Saturday of the month, don’t miss the Art Walk in Kapaʻa town; local food trucks and vendors line the street and live entertainment carries the party into the night. Stop by Java Kai, Art Cafe Hemmingway, or the Kauai Juice Company for a quick bite. If you are headed to the North Shore, Java Kai is an easy and delicious pit stop for breakfast, and health eaters will love the cold-pressed juices and kombucha at Kauai Juice Company. Kauai loves farmer’s markets, and Kapaʻa’s is no exception. If you’re in town on Wednesday swing by the New Town Bell Park at 3:00 pm to pick up some local tropical goodies. Head north another 10 minutes or so and you’ll reach Anahola, a quaint town with a renowned juice shop, the Kalalea Juice Hale. Sit under the mountains of Anahola and enjoy a creamy acai bowl. Our favorite is the “King Kong” loaded with goji berries, macadamia nuts, cacao nibs, and coconut flakes. It’s Kauai in a bowl! West of Kapaʻa town is the ridge line known as the Sleeping Giant, perhaps Kapa’a’s most famous resident. This ridge line was named as such due to the fact it looks like a giant figure napping. While the hike is steep in parts and definitely a bit more exhausting than others on island, your family will love the sweeping views at the top. Let our knowledgeable team guide you with our Timbers Kauai-guided hikes to experience this area with a local. We pack a picnic so you can relax and refuel after the hike.

EAST SIDE DINING ON THE EAST SIDE Is it really a trip to Hawaii without a meal at Duke’s? The famous beachside restaurants is casual and cool, offering burgers, salads, pizzas, tacos, and some local specialties like Hanalei taro cakes and seared ahi. Downstairs bar is open daily from 11:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.; main dining room daily 5:00 PM – 9:30 PM Pietro’s Pizza Kauai is the most authentic pizza on island, perhaps even the state of Kauai. The owner trained in Naples and is VPN certified, meaning he knows how to make a killer Neopolitan style pizza. Open Tuesday – Thursday 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Saturday 5:00 PM. – 9:30 PM From simple pasta dishes to rich entrees, Kauai Pasta serves classic Italian dishes that will leave you full and satisfied. One of our favorite places to grab a meal before heading to the airport. Open for lunch and dinner from 11::00 AM 9:00 PM Kauai Beer Company opened in 2013 and serves as a melting pot of locals and visitors. The brewery offers a selection of classic brews like IPAs and lagers, but also spins out some more creative options like the Sleeping Giant barleywine. The food rivals the beer, with plenty of shareable snacks the kids will love. Join them on Thursday nights where they feature two food trucks curbside on a rotating basis. Open Tuesday – Saturday 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM Street Burger is an urban-chic eatery offering handcrafted, locally-sourced burgers, hand cut fries, and the Eastside’s largest selection of local and craft beers on tap, complemented by a wine list fit for burger pairings. Open Tuesday – Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. JO2 transforms nature’s bounty into exquisite dishes incorporating Kauai heirloom vegetables and the freshest ingredients from the sea. Perhaps our favorite restaurant on the island, JO2’s seasonal menu is created daily and always focused on using local ingredients. Open nightly from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Kintaros is a local hotspot, and for good reason. The sushi is fresh and the teppanyaki is as tasty as it is fun, the kids will love watching the tableside preparation. Take a note from the locals and order the soft shell crab and the Bali Hai Bomb roll, they will not disappoint. Reservations are recommended, so let us know if you plan to dine at Kintaros. Closed Sunday’s. Open Monday – Saturday 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM Oasis on the Beach Located is steps from the beach at Waipouli Beach Resort, offering an array of delightful preparations featuring locally-grown, organic produce and fresh-caught island seafood. Open daily 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM

A DAY SOUTH Your journey to Kauai’s south side will take you through the beloved tree tunnel. While Walter Duncan McBryde was landscaping his home in the early 1900s, he realized he had 500 eucalyptus trees in need of a home, so he donated them to the county of Kauai. Local Kauaians helped to plant the trees and create what is now the marvelous tree tunnel. Shipwreck beach is a popular beach on the south shore, accessible via a road between the Hyatt Hotel and the Poʻipū Bay Golf Course. We don’t necessarily recommend swimming at this beach as high surf can create unfavorable conditions, nor do we recommend jumping off the cliff at Makawehi Point, though you will see other beach-goers doing so. If your littlest ones are scampering off towards the ocean in diapers, take them to Poʻipū beach where they can actually dip their toes in the water. The “baby section” is highly protected from the sea and from any large waves. After stopping by Shipwreck beach, head to Sheraton beach, where swimming is safe, as the beach is buffered by an offshore reef. It’s a great spot for photographs, and offers plenty of sand to lay out and read, and plenty of surf to catch waves on your board and enjoy the ocean. Highly recommended for families. If you didn’t get a chance to visit one of the island’s other farmer’s markets, the Kukuiʻula shopping center hosts a farmer’s market on Wednesday’s from 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM. Shop for local produce and beef, as well as souvenirs to bring home. Lastly, a tip to Lappert’s ice cream is a must, their Kauai pie flavor is wonderful and worth every calorie. Māhāʻulepū Coastal Trail is a great coastal hike that takes you from the south-east corner of Shipwreck beach to Keoneloa Bay along sand-dune cliffs, kiawe trees, limestone formations and rocky inlets. The southeast corner is a safe haven for marine life, and you may spot a seal turtle or the Hawaiian Monk Seal if you are lucky.

SOUTH SHORE DINING ON THE SOUTH SHORE Merriman’s Chef and restaurateur Peter Merriman has 6 restaurants in Hawaii. Kauai Merriman’s is casual, but still calls for a bit more etiquette and dress than some of the other local eateries. Merriman’s hosts live music most nights, and is a great spot for a special occasion or date night. Open nightly from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM La Spezia is a traditional and cozy Italian restaurant, serving up delicious appetizers and pastas. La Spezia also serves breakfast, and brunch on Sunday, don’t miss the Bloody Mary Bar. Open Tuesday – Saturday 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM and Sunday 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM Red Salt is an upscale restaurant under Meritage’s banner, serving creative dishes inspired by local cuisine. We recommend Red Salt for nights without the kids, as the menu is definitely geared towards foodies. Surprisingly, the burger is one of the most revered dishes on the menu, topped with lobster, foie gras, and more. Open nightly from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM Ruth Chris specializes in custom-aged USDA Prime Midwestern beef, recently opened in the Shops at Kukuiula. Open daily 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM Stevenson’s Sushi and Spirits Poʻipū’s luxury nightspot offers sweeping views, scrumptious sushi, inventive cocktails, tropical drinks, aged whiskies and live island music nightly. Sushi served from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM nightly, minors permitted from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM Beach House Restaurant Offers a breathtaking oceanfront view for sunset. They offer pacific rim cuisine incorporating local produce into each dish. The fish is sourced from island fishermen and the beef from neighboring ranches. Open for dinner nightly from 4:45 PM - 10:00 PM

A DAY WEST No trip to Kauai would be complete without a trip to Kokee, the “Little Grand Canyon” of Hawaii. After an hour-long car ride, you’ll want to get out for some photos at the Waimea Canyon lookout. Perhaps stop in Kokeʻe lodge for a cup of coffee and a light snack, the food and drink is local and delicious. There are several trails to choose from in Kokeʻe State Park. We recommend guests check-in at the museum for up-to-date trail conditions or inquire with our Timbers Kauai guides for trail recommendations based on current weather conditions and fitness levels. There is no cell service in Kokeʻe, which really helps visitors get back to nature, but is important to note before heading there. Not all of Kauai can be explored by foot, nor should it be. Board a boat for a seaside tour of the Nā Pali coast. There are catamaran and rafting expeditions, though the rafting expeditions offer a bit more flexibility and allow you to tour the waterfalls and natural sea caves, provided the surf cooperates. Our concierge is happy to arrange advance reservations aboard the best boats on the island with Captain Andy’s Sailing Adventures. On Friday nights, Hanapepe town hosts Art Night from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. The town alivens as talented local arts and artisans display their crafts and talents. Stop by Talk Story Bookstore to see their selection of new and used books including some hard to find books and comics! Enjoy dinner from food trucks and local restaurants while listening to Hawaiian music in the streets. Polihale Beach is the last beach on the west side of the island. Polihale spans 12 miles of uninterrupted white sand beach, and is our strong recommendation for that quintessential beach sunset photo. The cliffs light up red in the evening, so get there just before dark, but bring along any snacks or drinks, as there are no shops on this end of the island.

DINING ON THE WEST SIDE Ishihara Market - This family owned grocery store is adored by locals who come for great pupus (appetizers) and take-out meals. If you are spending the day at Waimea Canyon or Polihale, this is a great place to stop and pick up lunch and snacks for the day. Open Monday – Thursday 6:00 AM – 7:30 PM, Friday and Saturday 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Sunday 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM Island Tacos - Located roadside in Waimea town, this simple, order-at-the-counter taco stand offers local fish, pork, chicken and even a wide array of wonderful vegetarian and vegan options. You’ll enjoy outdoor seating and unique toppings like wasabi spiked aioli sauce. The simplicity adds to the ability to get to the beach fast! Open daily 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM Lappert’s Hawaii - On your way back to Timbers Kauai, stop by Lappert’s original store in Hanapēpē founded in 1983. This popular local ice cream shop only uses the freshest and finest ingredients. We recommend their signature flavor Kauai Pie! Open 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
