The Last Project of Fielzão which hasnʼt been started yet.

Right: the Project for Morumbi has not been chosen for the world cup.

Interests or Soccer? by Felipe Schulman After a lot of confusion it was finally decided that São Paulo will host the World Cup. It wil be the Arena Corinthians, or Fielzão, in the east side of the city. Originally the first option was the Morumbi Stadium, in the south side of the city. But the stadium is old and has several problems with public transportation. Also it has many “blind spots”, which are: points where one can’t see the entire pitch, but it could be good because stands in the middle of the city, in a place already civilized. The Fielzão also has several problems, just like Morumbi’s. It stands far away from where the foreigners and wealthy population are, and they will be interested in going to the games. Therefore it has transportation problems and localization problems. Another disadvantage of the Fielzão is that a new stadium has to be built, as compared to the Morumbi Stadium, which already exists. This is much more work and a lot of money will be spent, so much that the cost hasn’t even been officially announced yet In the main stadium of the South African World Cup, Soccer City, there were also a lot of “blind spots”. So, why did the FIFA, the main institution in soccer let something like this

happen in South Africa and are having so much resistance with the Morumbi? Why was the Fonte Nova imploded and not other stadiums if that seemed to be the cheapest choice? The biggest mistake made by the FIFA was that the political issues seemed to be the most important topic, instead of the public from around the world who come to see good soccer. The best option might be to build a new stadium compared to fixing Morumbi, but why was there so much resistance with the problems in Morumbi and almost no resistance with the Fielzão’s? Only because of several problems involving CBF, Brazilian Federation of Soccer and São Paulo F.C. owner of Morumbi, the CBF does not want Morumbi as host? Time is running out and almost none of the stadiums have started construction and some of them haven’t even decided on the terms of exactly how the project is going to look like. The problem is that the power in Brazil is given exclusively to one person, a lot of power to only one, in this case, Ricardo Teixeira, the CBF President, and his interests can’t come before the fans’, clubs’ and cities’.

LONDON 2012 - THE NEXT OLYMPICS

Brazilian Championship Wins

by Thiago Lima

Flamengo - 6 São Paulo - 6 Corinthians - 4 Palmeiras - 4 Vasco da Gama - 4 Internacional - 3 Grêmio - 2 Santos - 2 The teams with the most Brazilian Championships, “Brasileirões” are São Paulo and Flamengo. Next come Corinthians, Palmeiras and Vasco with 4. The only team that has won 2 or more titles of the Brasileirão that can win it again this year is Corinthians.

Next up in the Olympic Games, London 2012! The one and only home of The Beatles, Harry Potter and Queen Elizabeth, London England! Being nominated a few years ago as the 2012 Summer Olympic Games hosting country, London has gotten hard to work to produce a spectacle to follow up Beijing’s 2008 masterpiece. Already having a few years of work done, The London committee is making good progress for the Opening day on July 27th and keeping these games running until August 12th 2012. A special occasion for this Olympic Games is the fact that it is the 1st city to hold 3 Summer Olympics, the first time in 1908 and the previous one in 1948.

Transportation has really taken a step up not only allowing a quick, fast and safe railway transportation to the games and to different venues also with the new rebuilt airports, but also a major help to London in the after-life of the Olympics. Things outside of the games are jumping to a start as the tickets are starting to be sold at a bewildering speed, people are getting excited, broadcasters are getting there reporters and camera-men ready and companies are manufacturing the new 2012 products. Looks like London’s gotten the hang of it, now that it’s their third Olympics and we can count on them to give us an enjoyable, friendly Summer Olympic Games.

THE CHALLENGE AWAITS

by Thiago Lima

Looks like we’re going to have to take a year off in 2015 as the 2014 FIFA world cup and 2016 Olympic Games advance on Brazil in a rush. Rio has designs for all the stadiums and they are all looking impressive with an international, but modern way with some Brazilian flare mixed in. Now it’s time to get to work on these magnificent structures by taking down a variety of unused buildings, the locations are all ready to be built. The four main locations where the venues will be placed are around the forests of Deodoro, the legendary Maracana, beaches of Copacabana and the thriving neighbourhood of Barra. These soon to-be Olympic stadium locations will be connected with a high performance shuttle train. The Olympic park will be located in Barra with a private beach just for the athletes. This center will host 50 percent of the Olympic Games and

!

hold the training center for the competitors. The main venue of Deodoro will be its X-course, where there will be mountain-biking, motocross, BMX and other dirt sports. The committee working hard to prepare a spectacular production for the opening ceremony of the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympic Games. A special occurrence throughout the games will be that all four locations will have a special presentation encouraging sports, somewhat like the opening ceremony. The Olympics are set to occur during august 15 to august 21, 2016. With all this excitement, we are going to really have to work for our once-in-a-lifetime event. In any case, Rio is going to get a major facelift that it has been starting to need, so if I were you, I wouldn’t miss it!

A RAZÃO DO SUCESSO Felipe Schulman

A parte ofensiva é o forte dessa equipe. Conca é o cérebro do time, o armador que distribui o jogo. [12]

CHARTS AND TABLES !

Finally the Spanish Championship starts even, it looks like this time the competition is not going to be exclusive to Barça and Real. It also seems like no one will reach the 80’s or 90’s in punctuation like in the last several seasons. Valencia, Villareal, Barça and Madrid are all at the top, and we all know Sevilla can always be emerging.
