WORK YOUR WAY OUT OF THE WINTER BLUES Your Personalized 21 Day Detox Program Conquer Your Pain, Fatigue and Chronic Disease

Floor Cardio/Ball/ Steep/ABS F S

By Dr. Greg Fors, DC Board-certified Neurologist (IBCN) Do you realize that you could transform your life in as little as 21 days? No doubt you would be skeptical but I have seen it happen in numerous patients throughout my years of clinical practice. You can reset your metabolism, break free of cravings, lose weight and radically transform your health in just a few weeks by following an individualized doctor directed 21 day detox plan. By following your individualized program, you can not only lose your chronic pain, fatigue, brain fog and G.I. problems, but also start shedding those unwanted pounds. You will then be turning the corner on present and future chronic health problems such as metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes, allergies, autoimmune disease, heart disease, sexual dysfunction and so much more. You may ask how this is possible. It really is easy to understand; what makes you hurt, feel fatigued and makes you fat are the very same metabolic conditions that bring about chronic disease, from heart disease to Alzheimer’s. The underlying metabolic issues are systemic inflammation, free radical damage, and many times insulin resistance. The primary triggers for these problems are poor diet, high glycemic foods, food allergies, chemicals and heavy metals, and often include elevated levels of stress. With an individualized detox program you can “reboot” your personal system back to factory settings. It’s just like when your computer freezes up, you have to stop and reboot the system. By following your doctor directed personalized 21 day detox program, which includes diet and lifestyle practices, you can accomplish all this without going hungry! What makes this approach so unique is that it starts with a proper nutritional examination plus comprehensive lab work identifying your personal metabolic needs and issues. Within the lab work are biomarkers to see if part of your issue is severe systemic inflammation, or insulin resistance and pre-diabetes, each needing a slightly different approach in the program. The nutritional exam and lab work also verify that there is no extenuating disease process that prevents you from undergoing your personalized program. Importantly, the health of your kidneys and liver must also be verified before starting any detox program. One of the most common sources for chronic systemic inflammation leading to pain, fatigue and chronic health problems can be found in your gastrointestinal tract. With 70% of your immune system residing in your G.I. tract, it easy to see why chronic inflammation can so easily begin here. Factors that can undermine your detox program are G.I. issues such as maldigestion, malabsorption, dysbiosis and leaky gut syndrome. Again, there are specific lab tests that check for the health of the G.I. tract and whether dietary and nutraceutical supplementation is necessary to heal these factors during your 21 day detox program. There are even laboratory tests that can detect if you are suffering a toxic metal burden from lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic that may be residing in your tissues. If any of these heavy metals have built up in your tissues, specific foods such as Cilantro and Parsley can be added to your diet to help remove them. Ready to get started? This is not a prescription you will get at your local medical clinic. You must begin the process of transforming your life by wanting to. It’s your ship of wellness, you’re driving it, and more important than anything I can say here is… FEEL GOOD ABOUT WORKING TO FEEL GOOD! Pick a starting date; then begin by measuring your weight on the first morning without clothes. Using a tape measure, measure your waist around the widest point near your belly button. Now record it. Do this the same day every week and at the end of the three week period. Taking and recording measurements in your Detox Journal the day before you start your new menu, during, and when you finish the program, along with how you are feeling along the journey will validate your efforts and progress. OK, here comes the hard part…detoxing your cupboards and refrigerator. Get rid of anything that is not real food. Fortunately, we live in a society that demands disclosure on the packages of everything we consume. If it is processed and packaged in a factory it usually contains, preservatives, additives, coloring, or dyes; it’s not that real, so get rid of it. Remove food or drink that contains added sugars, high fructose syrups or artificial sweeteners, especially any sugar-sweetened beverages or fruit juices. Remove anything that contains hydrogenated oils and refined vegetable oils. Get rid of any sugar or flour based foods such as cookies, cakes and candies. Okay, now that you’ve detoxed your kitchen you are ready to begin the transformation of your health by adding back-in nutritious and delicious healthy foods, specific to your personalized 21 day program. Want to know more? Please attend my “Transform Your Health in 21 Days” seminar! THEY ARE FREE. The seminars will be held Wednesday March 19th and Monday March 24th 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the Pain and Brain Healing Center. Call the clinic at 763-862-7100 to reserve your space and/ or schedule a FREE consultation. For more details please see our website at

It's appropriate Gen Z is named after the last letter in the alphabet because their arrival marks the end of clearly defined roles, traditions, and experiences. After all, Zs are coming of age on the heels of what has been referred to as the most disruptive decade of the last century. Yes, Gen Z is tech savvy, but more than technology, this generation has been shaped by the crises they were born into: school shootings, climate change, terrorism, and the Great Recession. These dark events have undoubtedly made this generation more cautious, but also provided this generation with the inspiration to change the world -- and their realistic approach to life is going to allow them to do it. Most Zs are the children of Generation X (1965-1981), a generation known for challenging the status quo, who seem to be encouraging their children to find their own way rather than follow a set path. Gen Z is reportedly among the most stressed generation ever, partly because their parents lead stressful lives and partly because many Zs are involved in numerous extra-curricular activities. However, this exposure to stress may work to Z's advantage as they move into adulthood. After all, they will largely be responsible for confronting the aftermath of the financial crisis, as well as a retirement wave, and the effects of climate change. Fortunately, this is an extremely resourceful and focused generation. Zs show characteristics of being cautious, careful, and rule-followers. They are concerned about their health, the environment, and doing well in life. As a result, teen drug, cigarette, and alcohol use are at all time lows. (This may lead to increased life spans. National Geographic reports one in three children today will live to be 100!) The bottom line: Raised by parents who have encouraged them to celebrate their individualism during an era of tremendous change, Gen Z is believed to possess great leadership skills and drive. Zs are inquisitive, entrepreneurial, and globally aware. They are diligent problem solvers and financially responsible, more interested in saving money than spending it. In many ways, the Z generation is similar to that of their grandparent's generation -- the Silent Generation. They aren't dreamers, per se, but they are doers -- much like Steve, the

Freezing Lemons - Who Knew Read this – it may save your life or the life of a friend or loved one. The more you read, the more you want to know… it’s not long, so, read it.

It’s amazing!

Many professionals in restaurants and eateries are using or consuming the entire lemon and nothing is wasted. How can you use the whole lemon without waste? Simple.. place the washed lemon in the freezer section of your refrigerator. Once the lemon is frozen, get your grater, and shred the whole lemon (no need to peel it) and sprinkle it on top of your foods. Sprinkle it to your vegetable salad, ice cream, soup, cereals, noodles, spaghetti sauce, rice, sushi, fish dishes, whisky.... the list is endless. All of the foods will unexpectedly have a wonderful taste, something that you may have never tasted before. Most likely, you only think of lemon juice and vitamin C. Not anymore. Now that you've learned this lemon secret, you can use lemon even in instant cup noodles. What's the major advantage of using the whole lemon other than preventing waste and adding new taste to your dishes? Well, you see lemon peels contain as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself. And yes, that's what you've been wasting. But from now on, by following this simple procedure of freezing the whole lemon, then grating it on top of your dishes, you can consume all of those nutrients and get even healthier. It's also good that lemon peels are health rejuvenators in eradicating toxic elements in the body. So place your washed lemon in your freezer, and then grate it on your meal every day. It is a key to make your foods tastier and you get to live healthier and longer! That's the lemon secret! Better late than never, right? The surprising benefits of lemon! Lemon (Citrus) is a miraculous product to kill cancer cells. It is 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy. Why do we not know about that? Because there are laboratories interested in making a synthetic version that will bring them huge profits. You can now help a friend in need by letting him/her know that lemon juice is beneficial in preventing the disease. Its taste is pleasant and it does not produce the horrific effects of chemotherapy. How many people will die while this closely guarded secret is kept, so as not to jeopardize the beneficial multimillionaires large corporations? As you know, the lemon tree is known for its varieties of lemons and limes. You can eat the fruit in different ways: you can eat the pulp, juice press, prepare drinks, sorbets, pastries, etc... It is credited with many virtues, but the most interesting is the effect it produces on cysts and tumors. This plant is a proven remedy against cancers of all types. Some say it is very useful in all variants of cancer. It is considered also as an anti microbial spectrum against bacterial infections and fungi, effective against internal parasites and worms, it regulates blood pressure which is too high and an antidepressant, combats stress and nervous disorders. The source of this information is fascinating: it comes from one of the largest drug manufacturers in the world. After more than 20 laboratory tests since 1970, the extracts revealed that they destroy the malignant cells in 12 cancers, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas... The compounds of this tree showed 10,000 times better than the product Adriamycin, a drug normally used chemotherapeutic in the world, slowing the growth of cancer cells. And what is even more astonishing: this type of therapy with lemon extract only destroys malignant cancer cells and it does not affect healthy cells. So, give those lemons a good wash, freeze them and grate them. Your whole body will love you for it!!!!!

Do you have

Exercise Pays Off

SUN DAMAGED SKIN? Are you in the SUN a lot?

by Matilda Charles

Have you noticed that your muscles seem to get weaker as you get older? It’s thought that starting at age 40, we lose about 1 percent of muscle mass each year. Multiple studies have questioned whether that muscle loss is true aging or whether it’s from disuse. One particular study compared “master athletesâ€? (recreational athletes who seriously exercised four to five times a week) who were 40 to 80 years old. Researchers measured leg strength, muscle mass and fat content of their muscles. They even took MRI scans of cross sections of the muscles of those at various ages who exercised versus those who didn’t. They discovered that the loss of muscle mass and strength was not due to aging alone. Senior athletes had almost as much leg muscle as the younger athletes. There was little fat in the muscles of senior athletes. There was little loss of strength. Which means there’s hope for the rest of us. Here’s my theory, after viewing the photos: We might not get back all the muscles and strength we had when we were very active and younger, but we can get back some of it, even if we’ve been sedentary for years. At the very least we can maintain what we have and avoid further loss of strength. Here’s what we get with regular exercise: ♼ Physical stability: Our core muscles and legs can hold us up, keeping us strong and agile. Without that strength, we’re more likely to suffer from falls and broken bones. ♼ Calcium remains in our bones, which gives them strength. ♼ Self-confidence: When we can continue to do things for ourselves; we keep our independence. Ask about classes at your local senior center. Even yoga or tai chi would be a good place to start.

● You might think of glaciers as lifeless places, but that’s not true. In addition to the polar creatures that live on and around these sheets of ice, there is one that actually lives in the ice. Though they’re only found in glaciers in certain areas of North America, the ice worm actually spends its entire life within the ice. In fact, the worms are so well-adjusted to the cold that when they are exposed to temperatures even slightly above 40 degrees Fahrenheit, they will liquefy.

● Domestic diva Martha Stewart once dated actor Sir Anthony Hopkins. After seeing “The Silence of the Lambs,” though, Stewart broke it off. She just couldn’t get past the image of him as Hannibal Lecter.

● Unless you’re a literary scholar, you’ve probably never heard of the novel “Cup of Gold.” It was American author John Steinbeck’s first novel, and it was a flop. He was issued a $250 advance to write the book, and the sales didn’t even make that much money for the publishing house. Of course, early failure was no indication of talent; Steinbeck continued writing and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962.

● You might be surprised to learn that a polar bear’s skin is black and its fur is colorless. The transparent strands are so dense, though, that the fur takes on the color of the light around it.

● Domestic diva Martha Stewart has been struck by lightning three times.

● Are you afraid of rattlesnakes? Keep in mind that the venom of a black widow spider is 15 times more deadly than that of the rattler.

● You might not have heard of American inventor Walter Hunt, but he came up with the ideas for an ice plough, a streetcar bell, an early version of the repeating rifle, artificial stone, the lockstitch sewing machine and a nail-making machine, among other things. One of his smallest and most useful inventions was the safety pin. In the mid-1800s, Hunt owed a friend $15. In order to come up with the cash to settle the debt, he decided to invent something. He picked up an 8-inch piece of brass wire he had on hand and made a coil in the middle of it, creating the spring action to open it. He then devised a clasp at one end to shield the user from the sharp point. After the device was patented in 1849, Hunt sold the patent to W.R. Grace and Company for $400, leaving himself with $385 after he paid the initial $15 debt. Incidentally, W.R. Grace and Company made millions of dollars from sales of the safety pin.

● Smart idea: Some fitness centers are now using the energy that clients expend on its exercise bikes to power the building’s lighting.

● It was Democratic governor and presidential hopeful Adlai Stevenson who made the following sage observation: “A free society is a place where it’s safe to be unpopular.”

• Caruso was one of the first opera singers to have his voice professionally recorded. He made nearly 300 recordings between 1902 and 1920, which was just before he died. As a result, his recordings are available today on CD or digital download. His 1904 recording of “Vesti la giubba” (“put on the costumes”) from the opera Pagliacci was the first sound recording to sell a million copies. Because of the popularity of his recordings, he was one of the most famous celebrities of his day. • He also made history when he was broadcast live from the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House in 1910 in the first radio broadcast to be publicly transmitted in the United States. • In 1906, Caruso performed in San Francisco the night before the big earthquake shook the town to its roots. He was so unnerved by the experience that he feared the shock would damage his voice. Standing in the shattered ruins of his hotel, he stood by a broken window, singing at the top of his lungs in order to be sure his voice was unharmed. He swore he’d never return to San Francisco, and he kept his word.

Noted Italian operatic singer Enrico Caruso was born on February 25, 1873. In honor of that event, come along with Tidbits as we attend the opera!
