Admissions Policy and Procedure

Admissions Procedure Parents are welcome to make an initial visit to the Nursery prior to submitting an application form. Applications for Nursery places will be accepted at any time for August entry, but should reach the school by the end of January prior to the date of entry. All applications will be processed after this date. Shortly thereafter the Nursery will invite parents to arrange a suitable date to bring their child for a Nursery visit. An offer of a place is conditional upon making this visit. (Siblings of Nursery children who visit regularly and are known to the Nursery staff may not be asked to come for an individual Nursery visit.) Following a visit and formal application the School will normally notify parents of the availability of a place for their child. The number of places available is subject to variation, up to a maximum of 30 per session, at the discretion of the Rector of Morrison’s Academy. Offers of places are not made more than one academic year in advance. Offers of places are made in writing by the Rector of Morrison’s Academy, on behalf of the Governors of Morrison’s Academy. When applying for a full year it is expected that children will remain in the Nursery for that full year. When applying for more than one year at the Nursery there is no need for parents to reapply for each subsequent year at the Nursery.

There is a Registration fee of £20 for each application for a Nursery place and this should accompany the application form. Cheques should be payable to Morrison’s Academy. When children are in their ante-pre school year and wish to follow on at the Nursery for their pre-school year, the school will write to parents in advance of the start date for the preschool year to confirm, or re-confirm, availability of grant-funded places for that pre-school year. Parents who intend their children to continue their education at Morrison’s Academy after Nursery should apply for this separately. The Registration Fee for entry to Primary 1 (only) will be waived if you wish your child to be considered for entry direct from Morrison’s Nursery. Nursery children will be required to go through the school’s normal entry procedures for entry to P1 and above. Attendance at the Nursery will not guarantee a place in Primary 1 and all offers are made at the Rector’s discretion. Withdrawl of a Nursery place by the School In exceptional circumstances, the Rector of Morrison’s Academy reserves the right to request parents to remove a Nursery pupil where, in the opinion of the Rector, such is in the interests of the child and/or the Nursery or where fees are unpaid (in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Morrison’s Academy).

Notice of Withdrawl to be given by Parents Parents must inform the Rector in writing of their intention to withdraw their child from the school by the date stated below or they will be liable for the following term’s full fee in lieu of notice. • at the end of term 1 should be intimated by 15 October • at the end of term 2 should be intimated by 15 February • at the end of term 3 should be intimated by 15 May.
