How did you react when you got the news that you were expecting? “When my husband and I found out I was pregnant, it came as a surprise. We had a very hard time getting pregnant before and I had suffered two miscarriages in the last four years. We were so happy, we cried.” Were you filming AMC during that? How did it go? “I was in my second week of filming ALL MY CHILDREN when I got the news of my pregnancy, and I was so nauseous and had morning sickness and I was dealing with nerves about this exciting new job all at the same time. It was very tough for me at first, but once I felt it was safe enough to say something, I told producers and my fellow actors and everyone on set was so caring and supportive. I just love my ALL MY CHILDREN family; love them.” Your daughter, Skye, is an adult, but is she still excited to be a big sister? “Yes, my daughter is 21, but she’s still my princess and I love that she’s so excited to be a big sister! She had been wanting a little brother for a long time. Skye is fabulous; the baby is so lucky to have her.” How do you think you’re more prepared for motherhood this time around? Does it feel different from the first? “When I got pregnant the first time, I was 17 years old. I was a kid. I gave birth to Skye at 18 years old; I didn’t know
anything. I was so lucky to have my family and friends who loved me and helped us so much. Now, 21 years later, I know some things, but it’s still a scary process. It’s completely different. It’s a boy this time and it’s been so long since I had a little baby in my life. It’s exciting, but I’m still nervous. I’m very happy my husband is excited and with me.” Any weird cravings? If so, what are they? “My cravings have been very weird, especially because I am so nauseous all the time. It’s all about citrus — lots of grapefruit, lots of lime, watermelon, and for the first three months, it was mangoes all day long.” 71
