BUFFALO TOURS - Responsible Tourism It has always been at the heart of Buffalo Tours ethos to not exploit local communities culture and environment. We ensure our tours are of low impact on natural resources, respectful and observant of local customs and supportive of local economies. Our staff have led groups on medical treks in remote mountains and ethnic minority communities, and coordinated the building of schools, kindergartens, wells, toilets and bridges for disadvantaged regions. Below are some guidelines on how you can contribute positively to the local economy, environment and society of the region you are visiting. You can also visit our website www.buffalotours.com.vn for a copy of our Responsible Tourism Policy. Cultural Responsibility Respect cultural differences. Dress conservatively, especially when entering religious sites. Respect the local etiquette. Always ask permission before taking photographs of people and respect their wishes if they refuse. Social Responsibility Respect the traditions and behavior codes in visited communities. Support local communities with appropriate donations and gift giving, that will not damage and unbalance the populations. Avoid shops that sell souvenirs, food or products made from local wildlife and avoid restaurants that make a feature of wild endan gered animal species on their menus. Environmental Responsibility Minimise waste through re-use and recycling. Carry your rubbish until you can dispose of it safely. Avoid environmental degradation by respecting trails when trekking, not removing shells and corals when snor-kelling or diving, limiting use of firewood, avoiding contact with limestone formations. Respect appropriate park regulations that ensure that wild-life is protected.
