Hello! My name is Chris Dunn and I began my Thrive ZP journey back in August 2018.

Back then, I was setting the worst example for how to take care of yourself. I was dangerously obese, I had sleep apnea and my knees constantly hurt. When I took a blood pressure test, it was through the roof. That test was a warning sign that I wasn’t going to be around for my kids. When I read the Thrive ZP stories, they really stuck with me. I got inspired to make better choices — like setting a daily calorie limit and working out on my elliptical machine.

My weight loss has been incredible. I’m down 140 pounds! My pain is gone, my happiness has improved and I sleep like a baby. It gets better every day.

To me, the Thrive ZP Challenge is easy. Pick an area of your life and make better choices for 21 days. You can make it work for you however you choose. I challenge myself to beat my best number of workouts, best meals and time with family. I keep track of it all. I’m looking forward to the new content and services available in Thrive ZP.

A lot of folks just don’t take the time to de-stress or even know how to do it. The focus on stress relief and healthy living will be great.

It’s been a great journey and Thrive ZP has been there every day to remind me to make better choices. I cannot tell you how rewarding it has been. My goal was to change my way of living so that I could be around for my family.

It feels good to reach a goal, and that’s what this has been all about. I’ve made a total life change and there’s no going back. I am so grateful and honored to win $25,000. Fitness

Regular movement helps us stay fit — but it can do so much more than that. Moving our bodies each day — even for just a few minutes — is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to improve our well-being. By incorporating small bursts of movement into our daily lives, we can become healthier and feel less stressed.

Take a one-minute stretch break whenever you can throughout the day.

Frequent movement fuels your body and mind. Change positions, stretch — anything to get your blood flowing.

When you encounter a flight of stairs, jog them instead of walking.

Aerobic activity, even in small bursts, supports brain health.

Every time you exercise, take a minute to celebrate.

Pausing at the end will help you truly appreciate the mood boost that comes with a workout.

Every day, my daughter and I go for runs in the park.

And you don’t need to get a fancy bottle. Squeeze an orange or lemon into your H20, and voilà!

Pick a night each week, and take a few minutes to plan out your meals for the week ahead.

Put your phone away each time you socialize with friends or family.

Putting your device down allows you to be fully present in the moment and meaningfully connect with others.

At the end of your workday, take five minutes to unwind before rejoining your partner.

This helps you both release stress that’s built up from the day.

Managing money also helps us manage our stress. Making smarter spending and saving choices can keep us from worrying when it’s time to pay bills, and gives us the flexibility to buy the things we need, or that bring us joy. When we feel good about our budgeting, we can show up as our happiest, healthiest selves at work and at home.

Before the end of each day, log what you bought that day.

The simple act of tracking purchases allows you to reflect on your spending, and whether you feel good about it.

Write down your list before going to the store.

Being deliberate about your purchases helps you avoid impulse buying.

I put anything extra, no matter how small, into savings. It all adds up!

Sleep

Sleep is the foundation of a happy, healthy life. When we’re well-rested, we’re more focused, less stressed, and better able to make decisions. We show up for our families, and stay calm even in our most challenging moments. Best of all, getting good sleep makes it easier to succeed in other areas of our lives, like helping us reach our fitness goals by giving us energy, recovery time, and the headspace to make healthier choices.

Set an alarm for 30 minutes before your bedtime.

Setting an alarm reminds you that if you’re going to get to bed on time, you need to start wrapping things up.

Create a wind-down ritual.

Treat your transition to sleep as a ritual.

Turn down the lights and draw the shades as soon as you start to get ready for bed.

Then, take a hot bath or shower. This eases the transition to sleep and helps you symbolically wash the day away.

Schedule a time each evening to put your phone in Do Not Disturb mode.

Intentionally blocking notifications and calls will help put the day’s demands behind you — and set you up for uninterrupted sleep.

I put my phone or laptop down at least 40 minutes prior to going to bed.

Three years ago, I lost everything in Hurricane Maria. I lost my house and had no electricity and no water. I ended up living with my husband on my mom’s couch. I had a 4-year-old and another baby on the way.

I first heard about Thrive ZP from the books. I picked one up and couldn’t put it down. It was just so intriguing.

Zesty Lemon Poppyseed Muffins These light, citrusy muffins are a perfect snack to start the day or pack into a lunchbox. They come together in a matter of minutes, making them an easy addition to your weekly meal prep. As a bonus, these gluten-free treats contain zero processed sugar and are packed with protein power!

Zesty Lemon Poppyseed Muffins Serves 12 (1 muffin per serving) Calories: 182 Carbohydrates: 15g Sodium: 104mg Total fat: 7g Fiber: 3g Protein: 15g Ingredients 1 ½ cups almond flour or gluten-free oat flour 1 ½ cups vanilla protein powder 1 teaspoon baking powder ½ teaspoon baking soda 2 tablespoons poppyseeds 1 lemon, zested and juiced 2 eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 very ripe bananas, mashed 2-4 tablespoons maple syrup 1 cup unsweetened nut milk Coconut oil spray

Directions Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium bowl, mix all dry ingredients together.

Whisk to combine.

In a smaller bowl, mix poppyseeds through nut milk together until well incorporated.

Mix wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until well combined.

Spray a muffin tin with coconut oil spray. Scoop or spoon mixture to fill 12 muffins about ¾ full.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until completely set. Allow to cool 5 minutes before serving.

Thai Peanut Noodles Skip the take-out and make your own veggie Thai noodles that require zero cooking. If you have a blender and a bowl, you are ready to go. Using brown rice noodles in this recipe helps lower your glycemic load, which means more stable, ongoing energy throughout the day. Loading up this dish with an array of colorful veggies also adds fiber, phytochemicals and antioxidants — plus deliciousness.

Thai Peanut Noodles Serves 4 Calories 489 Carbohydrates: 58g Sodium: 198mg Total fat: 22g Fiber: 8g Protein: 18g Total Costs : $8.80 Costs per serving: $2.20 Ingredients 1 – 8 ounce box brown rice noodles 2 carrots, peeled, and julienned or grated Sauce 1/3 cup hot water ¼ cup tamari or soy sauce 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil 1 garlic clove, peeled 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled 1 tablespoon raw honey or maple syrup ¾ cup creamy peanut butter Hot sauce, to taste

Garnish ¼ cup chopped cilantro 2 green onions, sliced ½ cucumber, peeled and chopped ½ cup shredded purple cabbage ¼ cup chopped peanuts Thai Basil (optional) Lime wedges Cooked egg or tofu (optional) Directions Prepare the noodles according to package instructions. You may soak rice noodles in hot water, off the stove, until soft for about 5 minutes. Drain and serve hot or rinse with cold water, depending on your preference.

Prepare the sauce. Add all the sauce ingredients to a blender.

Purée until smooth.

Julienne slice or grate the carrots.

Combine the noodles, carrots, and sauce in a large mixing bowl. Top with optional garnishes.

After I collapsed from exhaustion and burnout and broke my cheekbone, I decided to build Thrive around the power of stories and the power of Microsteps — small, daily better choices — to improve our well-being and our lives. Last year I found out about the ZP Challenge and started reading story after story about the impact that Walmart associates are having on each other and their communities. I was so inspired that I reached out to Walmart, and now I am thrilled that we have joined forces to help make the world a better place. We all share the belief that everyone from all walks of life can be connected on this journey of better choices, inspiring more and more people around the world to take the first step toward a healthier, happier life.
