FALL IMPACTÂ REPORT 2018

The 4th Annual VIDA Thrive 5K raised over $13,000

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR Dear Friends,

I can’t believe how time flies! It was about a year ago that Thrive DC received the news of a major funding cut from the city government for homeless services. We were forced to lay off some staff and reduce our hot meals service. At the time we feared that we might need to cut even more, but thanks to our community of supporters people like you - we’ve been able continue meeting the needs of our most vulnerable citizens. Indeed, with your help we'd served over 100,000 meals by the end of September.

In fact, because of some new grants, we were recently able to welcome two new staff - Hailey Lape and Marciel Rojas Rosario - who are working one-on-one with clients to get them connected to services they need to get back on track. As we look to the next few months and the end of the year, we’re grateful for the support of hundreds or donors and volunteers who support Thrive DC throughout the year - some who are highlighted in this report. And we look forward to

Giving Tuesday, one of our biggest fundraising days of the year, on Tuesday, November 27th.

Watch our social media , your email inbox, or regular snail mail for Giving Tuesday details coming soon!

Thank you for being an important part of the Thrive DC community. With gratitude,

Alicia Horton Executive Director

A client came in to see his case manager. He was very excited about a job interview that he had in Virginia.  He also shared that he did not have the means to get to the interview. My colleague was able to provide him with transportation assistance he needed. While the client was ecstatic to receive the help. It was my colleague who was most affected. He turns to me with tears in his eyes and says, "You know what we give here, is hope." "We do good work." I was so touched by this reaction.

Homelessness is more than hunger.

It is very easy to become jaded over time, But I feel privileged to be working with people who can still be so touched by bringing someone a little bit of joy and hope.
