Thornton Tomasetti designed its first U.S. embassy facility – the Tokyo embassy staff residence – in 1952. Since then, our design partners have ranged from Raymond and Rado, Walter Gropius and I. M. Pei to the celebrated designers of today. Following the 1983 bombing of the U.S. embassy in Beirut, we developed engineering guidelines for the Department of State that form the backbone of protective design criteria for the government and private industry.
