read: O Lord, you have examined my heart (My heart? Mine? My real heart?) and know everything about me. (Everything. Everything? Even that time that I . . . Everything.) You know when I sit down or stand up. (Or watch TV on the couch? Or run track?) You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. (Why doesn’t that guy/girl seem interested in me? God, are You really real?) You see me when I travel (Heading to an out-of-town football game.) and when I rest at home. (Please make four hours of sleep count like eight!) “You place your You know everything I do. (Um, there’s that everything word again.) hand of blessing You know what I am going to say on my head.” (Why don’t I?) Psalm 139:5b even before I say it, Lord. (Couldn’t You stop me every once in a while?) You go before me and follow me. (I get it. You are in front of me and behind me—all around me.) You place your hand of blessing on my head. (Wait, huh? Blessing on me? Really?) Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, (I’m not sure this can really be true.) too great for me to understand! (It doesn’t make sense . . . God’s hand of blessing on me while I’m lying on the couch watching TV or wondering if He even exists? Come on, I don’t get it.) I can never escape from your Spirit! (I guess there is nowhere I can go that You aren’t there.) I can never get away from your presence! (Nowhere that You aren’t with me.) If I go up to heaven, you are there; (I knew that one.) if I go down to the grave, you are there. (I’m going to have to take Your word for it, but that’s a hard one.) If I ride the wings of the morning, (Do I have to get up early to do this?)
