We have begun our journey towards a new type of medical mission!
It is an empowering, community building approach to healthcare.
In Uganda, medical services and preventative care are often inaccessible. Clinics are often understaffed and medications unavailable. Malnutrition is rampant and 53% of children under the age of 5 are anemic. 25% of females, ages 10 19, have had a baby or are pregnant and laboring mothers are turned away from hospitals if they do not bring their own supplies for their own delivery.
In 2021, 350 children died each day due to the often preventable/treatable illnesses of Malaria, Pneumonia, and diarrhea in part from lack of access to primary health care. With 29% of rural Ugandans living in poverty and with such an extreme lack of access to care, the suffering is very great.
Harmony Life’s goal is to face these issues head on and to provide long term health care solutions.
Harmony Life is working with Third Lens Ministries, a nonprofit organization that manages the design build process in order to ensure a successful building project for ministries.
We understand that when God entrusts us with finances, we are called to steward them well. Our funds are not our own, they belong to our God. Because we believe this, stewardship (accompanied by excellence) is a leading component of our partnership strategy.
As an organization, our desire is to be a light in the darkness by bringing hope, healing, and transformation to hurting people. We work alongside those in need, equipping and empowering them with educational and entrepreneurial opportunities. We strive to make basic medical care accessible to as many people as possible.
In partnership with Third Lens Ministries,
Harmony Life will be building this project with oversight from industry professionals, mitigating the risk of financial misuse, serious delays, and permitting issues.
Our medical clinic will be located in a small rural Village known as Kyamasongi, just East of the town of Fort Portal, Uganda, East Africa.
This level three medical facility will serve the general population with a variety of care.
It will have a maternity unit, infectious disease unit, same day operatory, on site laboratory, on site pharmacy, x ray room, and multiple general examination rooms.
Local staff will manage the clinic, yet, we would continue to support the community practitioners via telehealth, ongoing indefinitely. This support would include daily “medical traffic” whereby a clinical expert from the United States reviews cases with the health workers and guides treatment.
*the rough order of magnitude for the Health Center is $1,058,400
Healing lives, restoring souls, empowering change.
Just off of the main road to Kampala, a few miles from where the medical center will be built, we have another plot of land where we will build a guesthouse/community center. It will be a sustainable income producing business, employing local workers and helping to fund the medical clinic.
It will also be an ideal location to host health, nutrition, and wellness seminars, medical training, and other community outreach events. This guest house will also be utilized for lodging traveling medical teams and missionaries.
*the rough order of magnitude for the Guest House is $982,800
A home for empowerment.
