WELCOME Hello and welcome to our new season here at The Y, as ever with our Spring / Summer season we are straight in to the Leicester Comedy Festival. This year marks the 117th year that we have been open, entertaining the public. The Y is the oldest theatre in Leicester and the only Victorian theatre left. Leicester once had several large Victorian theatres, such as the Theatre Royal on Horsefair Street and the Royal Opera House on Silver Street. Even the Haymarket was only open for 33 years, so the fact that we are still going strong after 117 years is an amazing achievement and this can only continue with your kind support. So please do support our oldest theatre and enjoy a night out at The Y. We look forward to welcoming you here soon. Adam Durnin - Theatre & Events Manager

No two nights of this extravaganza will be the same. This is less of a boast than admission that a) I am hopeless at learning scripts and b) I still have no idea what I am going to include. Perhaps you can help? If you’ve read my books, watched the series, or indeed, ever caught anything I have presented then maybe you might contribute to the feast of reason and flow of the soul that I guarantee these evenings will contain. Questions like, “What was meeting John Lennon/Michael Jackson/David Bowie like?” or, I suspect, most popular of all “How comes you’ve made so many rotten TV programs, Dan?”

Sara Pascoe - Animal
Sat 1 April, 7.30pm, £12 Sara Pascoe is an animal. After publishing a book exploring the evolution of the female body, Sara now considers further issues - will pornography lead to our extinction? Are humans naturally bad? How do we become better? Do we really have to die? and gulp, should she have a baby? As always Sara is honest and unflinching as she expounds on sexuality, empathy, art, God and pubic hair. If that sounds a bit weighty, there will also be stuff about selfies, glow worms and RuPaul’s Drag Race. Also, and this should be obvious, Slytherins are absolutely unwelcome. “Pascoe’s lively mind teases out big questions with intelligence, silliness and self-deprecation” The Guardian Book signing opportunity after the show!
