How To Stop Panic Attacks - Step #1 - Just Breathe The first thing you should do at the onset of an attack is try and remain calm and to focus on controlling your breathing. The physical symptoms of an anxiety attack are brought on shot of adrenaline. Focusing on taking slow, deep and controlled breathes helps to calm the body down and relieves some of they psychical symptoms you're experiencing. They're taken over by emotion that is associated with a certain fear. By saying positive things and comforting yourself you help relieve some of your fear. Our brains allow us to only feel positively or negatively about something at any given thing. By reassuring yourself and saying things like "everything is going to be okay" you're changing from a negative thought pattern, which caused the attack, to a positive one. This is like an antidote for anxiety attacks. How To Stop Panic Attacks - Step #3 - Identify And Work Through The Problem Once you've changed your negative thought pattern to a positive one you need to identify what triggered or caused the anxiety attack if it's not obvious to you. Anxiety attacks are brought on by irrational, illogical fears. By stepping back and looking at the problem objectively you will realize that things aren't as bad as they first seemed. Once you've worked the problem over in your head a few times things are nowhere as scary as they first seemed.
