Quote of the month: Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world. Abraham Lincoln

One of the best things about the information revolution which we are all experiencing , is that the internet is a vast repository of information that is unfiltered by corporations and government. (for the most part) Every month we will bring you in touch with those little known corners of the web that are quite literally our last bastions of truth and liberty. Pass what you learn here on to someone you care about. ….Slinger

Our feature is the film : AMERICA– FREEDOM TO FASCISM

Double Click America for the movie

This is the work of Alan Russo, famous for producing “Trading Places” w/Eddie Murphy. Alan asks one question of the U.S. Government “Will you show us the law that states that American people MUST pay Federal Income Tax”? The Government STILL has not produced the law. Because there is no law!

There is nothing to be learned from those who purport to know God, Any true God could never be understood. Especially by a greedy man. Rather it is more logical and beneficial to invest your faith in the ability of human beings to evolve. One day man will evolve past the need for fairytales and forced social structure. Humans will become humane.

By now you have heard all about the shooting of 19 people in Tucson, Arizona recently. One of which was the Rep. Gabrielle Giffords who has been clinging to life after a gun shot wound to the head. The main stream media has been covering this story non-stop since it broke. According to published reports 6 of the victims have died as a result of their injuries. (Note: about 233 children died in Iraq as a direct result of our occupation of that country) The suspect in the case, Jared Lee Loughner, 22, is currently in custody and awaiting his first court appearance. There is no dought that this is a tragedy. When ever a life is taken in a circumstance such as this there will always be a sense of profound loss. However, while preparing this article I noticed that most, if not all of the news coverage focused on congresswoman Giffords. I had to actually do a little digging to find out the names of the other victims. Which seemed a little absurd since one of the victims that was killed was a 9 year old girl. Yet, it was the politician that received most of the sympathy and condolences. It was initially reported that congresswoman

Giffords had been killed. Fox News was quick to make public-information that had not been verified. (as usual) However, as I watched the reporting from Fox, the other victims were only mentioned matter-of-factly. Sadly, when ever there is a tragic event like this invariably there are powerful people who will use this as an opportunity to forward their political agenda. A prime example is the Patriot Act. Signed into law on October 26, 2001. This one piece of legislation essentially destroyed a good portion of the Bill of Rights. After September 11th, using the fear and confusion as a means of distraction, the Bill was quickly and suspiciously signed into law. Greedy politicians are using our collective fear and anxiety as a means to forward an agenda. One that would otherwise never would have been attempted if it were not for the manipulation of events by the press, and the intentional misinterpretation of the facts by those same politicians. It is truly the most sincere form of detest toward your fellow man, and perhaps oneself, when the heartbreak and tragedy that often plagues or society is regarded as nothing more than a tool to manipulate the masses into not only inviting there own slavery, but viciously defending it as freedom. Dark Summer Dawn

Dark Summer Dawn Used to be called DeeJer and their “web presence” still refers to them as such on certain websites. In the summer of 2002, distinguished Austin, Texas drummer Chris Didear decided to put down the sticks to become a lead singer. The catalyst was meeting with talented songwriter/musician Brandon Gibbs on a random night at the Red Eyed Fly in Austin. Their chemistry and proliferation of songs prompted them to form the modern rock band Deejer. This band showcased in the 2004 Florida Music Festival and recorded with Pete Thornton (Shinedown, Limp Bizkit), and Mark Dufour (Ghostland Observatory, Blue October). Deejer released its debut CD “Grief Can Kill An Elephant” on February 25th, 2005. The first single, Farther Figure, charted at #27 on the FMQB specialty radio chart, was in rotation on XM Radio Unsigned, and was featured in A&R Worldwide’s Unearthed Vol. 3 compilation. The song “The Arrow” was included in Alternative Addiction’s V.5 complication and the track “All I Ever Wanted” reached Top 5 in the Heavy Rock category of the 2005 Independent Music Awards. With a southeast coast tour planned, disaster struck on August 29th, 2005 when hurricane Katrina devastated Louisiana. The tour was cancelled, and Brandon felt the call to use his carpentry skills to help rebuild the city of New Orleans. The band became fragmented, but Chris was determined to carry the torch and reinvent Deejer. He discovered gifted guitarist Dave Erickson from an Austin Chronicle ad and together they recruited drummer Gary Hopkins, an accomplished drummer who had just moved to Austin from Las Vegas.

The Business of Addiction The practice of addiction treatment facilities in the Watertown New York area, of “cutting short” the treatment of addicts, at precisely the same time as their insurance runs out, is reprehensible and detrimental to the well being of the patient. In Watertown, there is a pervasive practice of manipulating addicts while they are most vulnerable. There is the common instances of coercing those with manageable addiction issues, into entering unnecessarily into in-patient treatment facilities. Then there is the “get even” attitudes of some addiction professionals. For instance, if the person seeking treatment should have the audacity to retain independent thought, and wish to take part in structuring his or her own treatment; they are treated as though they are incapable of co-managing their own care. While being presented with an attitude that is both callus and arrogant. According to OASAS, NIDA, and the International Center for Advancement in Addiction Treatment, (all of which are the foremost authorities on Addiction) The single most decisive factor in creating a comprehensive recovery program that is successful and permanent, is essentially empowering the patients in their own healing process. However, it seems that in our region, some ad-diction professionals are more concerned with being right, not having their

authority challenged, and filling the beds of inpatient treatment facilities. They have struck up a symbiotic relationship with these facilities, with the goal of “hording“ patients and their Medicaid insurance payments. Instead of treating the patient with dignity and respect, they are treated as a means of cash flow. Regardless of the well being of the patient, they are coerced into treatment solely for the collection of Medicaid funds. This practice ignores the welfare of the patient and focuses only on the extrication of dollar amounts from the Medicaid program. This is happening everyday at the Samaritan Behavioral Health out-patient care facility on outer Washington street in Watertown. There is a sense of indifference toward the concerns and input from patients. There is an attitude of superiority, where every addict is looked at as unintelligent yet manipulative. There is also the intolerance of independent thought. If a patient has his or her own beliefs concerning spirituality, the disease model of addiction, or the manner in which he or she would like to address their issues. They are treated with distain not only by staff but by other patients at the goading of staff. I have personally been told by staff, “if you do not find god then you will never stay clean.” This of course is the opinion of a single staff member and not the entire program. However, this demonstrates

Dark Summer Dawn Continued……... They teamed up again with Mark Dufour and on May 27th, 2008 released “Dark Summer Dawn.” It was a noticeably darker and heavier effort, and was mastered by Dominick Maita (Fallout Boy, Plain White T’s). It received specialty rotation on KLBJ, KISS, KXTE and former American Top 40’s Shadoe Stevens placed the title track into heavy rotation on Cabo Wabo Radio. “Dark Summer Dawn” also received numerous awards in the Modern Rock category on Garageband.com including Track of the Day, Best Male Vocals, Best Guitars, Best Drums, Best Bass, Best Production, Best Lyrics, and Most Original. Deejer showcased in the 2008 Amplify Music Festival in Las Vegas and inked endorsements with Traben Bass Company and Michael Kelly Guitars. In the summer of 2009, the band added guitar specialist Chal Boudreaux whom Chris had known from Chal’s previous band Soak (Interscope). Lineup changes, a heavier direction, and a suggestion from friend and Disturbed bassist John Moyer prompted the band to change their name to DARK SUMMER DAWN and on March 5th, 2010 the band released a music video for the track “Red Ink.” Then, in August of 2010, Brandon Gibbs moved back to Austin to rejoin the band as it’s bassist, and Dark Summer Dawn have been writing and recording demos for their next release. There is something strangely inconsistent about a nation and a press that would praise you when you say, "Be nonviolent toward Jim Clark," but will curse and damn you when you say, "Be nonviolent toward little brown Vietnamese children." There is something wrong with that press. - Martin Luther King, Jr. We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing, all-powerful God, who creates faulty humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes. - Gene Roddenberry
