MURPHY’s LORE

ALAN Murphy \ general approval

T

he appointment of Major-General Peter Cosgrove to succeed Quentin Bryce as Australia’s next Governor-General has had a warm reception in the community. Understandably so – he will do a great job. The Moonee Valley community will recall the governor-general designate inappropriately involved himself in the 2012 council elections by endorsing former mayor and Rosehill ward councillor John Sipek. His involvement raised eyebrows at the time, given the inference he had a good understanding of local political issues despite living in Sydney. Major-General Cosgrove is big on mateship and Cr Sipek is a mate, according to Cr Sipek’s published material at the time. For such a public figure to be identified in a local council election from afar was over the top, though he backed a winner. Cr Sipek topped the poll, but then unsuccessfully challenging for the mayoralty. Despite prominence in his former

highly decorated military career and subsequent involvement on public boards and committees, the former Australian of the Year should have decided to pass up the opportunity to endorse his mate. The general is certain to be more discreet when he moves into Yarralumla next month. LAWYERS FEEL THE HEAT

could have done better than scribbling out a hastily written sign for their window, which simply said, “It’s too hot – if urgent”, followed by a mobile number to call. We expect the legal fraternity to show a bit more professionalism, perhaps apologising in advance for the inconvenience caused to any client who came out in the heat especially to talk to them.

The council is clearly miffed

Many local retailers simply shut the doors and headed home during the extreme weather conditions of the past three weeks. Most of us didn’t venture out when the temperature shot into the 40s. Streets in local shopping centres were deserted. Many of the shops closed as early as 1.30pm and no one would blame them. The extreme heat got to most of us, and the legal eagles as well. But a Keilor Road legal firm, which closed,

racing plan lurches on

Stand-by for at least two more years of public debate over the Moonee Valley Racing Club’s master plan. On face value, the racing club had a win when the advisory committee’s recommendations were announced late last year, but issues relating to heritage overlays will remain quite a sticking point and the committee’s recommendations relating to heritage matters might well be the final

determinant as to whether the redevelopment ever occurs. The council is clearly miffed about height and density of the major buildings. Reducing the main building from 20 storeys, and another nine storeys in the north-east of the site will be debated ad nauseam, with more work required on the likely impact on transport, traffic and parking. The council lost ground with the advisory committee for declining to nominate the heights and density levels it would find acceptable, despite a request, but the council will fight hard on heritage. THE FINAL WORD...

obyn Lawley is running late. She has been at a dawn fashion shoot and is wrapping up a production meeting for her eponymous swimsuit collection – one of whose designs Beyoncé was spotted wearing during her visit to Melbourne last year. At 24, Lawley is at the height of her career. She’s in demand for covers and editorials with Vogue Italia, French Elle and a slew of other international magazines, as well as campaigns for the likes of Barneys New York, Ralph Lauren, MNG and French lingerie powerhouse Chantelle. But Lawley is not just another reed-thin Aussie model taking on the world. She’s what the fashion industry calls plus-size. At 186 centimetres tall, she’s a healthy size 14 – if you must know, her measurements are 99-81-112 centimetres. When Lawley does come rushing in, she’s a statuesque demi-god in cut-off denim shorts, a singlet top with an orange bikini peeking through and hair piled up high to beat the heat. Without a skerrick of makeup, she is pure perfection. She’s quick to break the ice with self-deprecating humour. “I feel huge,” she says. “As I was coming here in the lift there were three tiny people and I loomed over them. I am broad and big-boned, probably built to do sport rather than modelling.” By all accounts, Lawley’s upbringing in Girraween, near Parramatta in Sydney’s west, was unremarkable. “It is a very blue-collar area,” she says. “There were just five of us, two older sisters and mum and dad. They’re very honest, hard-working people.” It was one of Lawley’s sisters who first signed her up for modelling when she was 15. “I think everyone starts saying you should model when you are really tall and decent looking. I was a pretty shy teen. I was more comfortable making people laugh than staring down the barrel of a camera.” Juggling school and modelling was tough, and Lawley admits she wasn’t academically inclined, preferring art, cooking and drama to maths and science. But modelling presented its own challenges as Lawley battled to fit the mould required for mainstream assignments. “I struggled really hard with the weight loss, it was really slow. I was

THE SHAPE OF SUCCESS

“I knew she was going to be a game-changer for the industry” – Chelsea Bonner

sticking to diets, counting calories, all of that and nothing was really working. You hate your body enough as it is at that age; throw in the pressure to lose a lot of weight very quickly and it becomes not fun.” Demand was slow, but she persisted, picking up work whenever magazines wanted a curvy model. She loved the performance aspect of the job, the hair, the makeup, transforming herself before the camera. What she didn’t like was turning up for a shoot to find the clothes too small. “I would try on these clothes and they would not make it over my thighs,” Lawley says. “The designers would say you are beautiful, but you are not for us.” She began to doubt she’d make it. “You question it. You start having these things going on in your mind, when you are not working and no one seems to be booking you. Your body is not doing what you want it to do. You then really start holding your body accountable and slowly start hating your body.” When she was offered a scholarship to attend an art school in France, Lawley decided to take a break and spend time backpacking across Europe. It was on her return that everything clicked when, at her first casting call, someone suggested she try plus-size modeling. She called around and found the then only plus-size model agency in Australia – Bella Models. Owner Chelsea Bonner says she knew she had a star in the making the moment a 19-year-old Lawley walked through her door. “I knew she was going to be a game-changer for the industry,” says Bonner, who opened her agency in 2002, after her sister’s battle with anorexia and bulimia. “Robyn would be someone that could help me get the message across to bridge the gap between normal size and plus-size. It is not about size. It is about beauty. It is about health. It is about being a woman and Robyn is such a perfect example.” Bonner, also a former model, has steered Lawley’s career to mega status. But she says it’s Lawley’s personality and work ethic that have cemented her position in the industry. “That girl is a maniac when it comes to work. Nothing fazes her. She is just a humble, very well-rounded and creative person.

“I think that women love that she is not one-dimensional. We get countless emails from people saying how much they love seeing Robyn out there.” Lawley made the broader online community sit up and take notice last October when her picture was posted on a so-called “thigh gap” Facebook page, which celebrates women who are so thin the insides of their legs don’t touch. An avalanche of derogatory comments followed, some comparing Lawley to a pig. The model countered with an opinion piece for The Daily Beast arguing that women should not be burdened by the unrealistic expectations of others. She says she wanted to get back at the cyber bullies. “Women have enough on their plates without throwing in the burden of achieving a thigh gap,” she says. “This was just another avenue to keep me from loving my body and I wanted to put a stop to it.” Her eloquent rebuttal won her legions of fans, including Ellen DeGeneres, who invited Lawley onto her show. She also appeared on Good Morning America to discuss body image issues. Lawley’s career has long been buoyed by her online fans. “They write to magazines saying how proud they are seeing me on the pages,” she says, “and, in turn, magazines and brands react by using me more.” It was those supporters who vented their anger when Cosmopolitan in America headlined a swimwear shoot “Plus-size supermodel”, sending the magazine’s comments page into meltdown. Lawley is doesn’t like the plus-size label, either. “It is

derogatory to label women above the size of 10 as plus-size. I hate it. I don’t think any women should have a label.” But she reckons attitudes are shifting. “[Modelling powerhouse] IMG has a large cache of fuller-sized models that are not promoted as plus-sized. That is a huge step in the right direction,” she says. “I always felt the fashion scene is a huge social club where you are not invited. With the onslaught of social media, where everyday buyers are interacting with the taste makers, it is opening up.” Lawley says she never set out to be a role model but she’s happy to be a positive influence. “When I was growing up I did not see many examples of my body in glossy magazines, but there was one – Crystal Renn. Her story of the struggle to overcome a weight problem to get comfortable with her body and modelling successfully was an inspiration for me. “It took me years to be confident. I only realised at 22 that I could do this. I hope other young girls can look up to me and appreciate their body and focus on other things that are far more important than looks. You can accomplish anything if you set your mind to it. “I think big is beautiful. I have been so many different sizes in my life, but if you keep focusing on your size it makes it worse. Loving yourself, you get better and you become happier.” These days Lawley is happy enough in her own skin to follow her passion for fine food. Her food blog, Robyn Lawley Eats, is so popular that she has just signed a cookbook deal and there’s a cooking show scheduled for Foxtel later this year. “Some people are born to play the piano,” she says. “I was born to cook. I wanted to be a chef but modelling took over. I like to keep my hands in many different pies.” Warming to her favourite subject, she gesticulates enthusiastically and it’s impossible to ignore the tattoo on her right wrist that says “Love life”. It’s clear Lawley is determined to do just that. \ dnaidu@theweeklyreview.com.au » robynlawley.com.au

reform, there’s no way I’m getting in the car with that strange little man. The overuse of the phrase has become so acute that X Factor mogul Simon Cowell last year banned contestants using it. “I hate people saying ‘you’re going on a journey’ because you’re not going on a journey. You’re on a talent show,” Cowell growled. But let’s not stop at the journey. Let’s throw in “the dream”, “passion”, “passionate”, “wellness” and “mindfulness”.

“it’s a ticket to tough times’’

Since when did the whole world sound like they had picked up the Dummies’ Guide to Deepak Chopra at the newsagent’s till? Now, this is a guy who really does go on journeys – first-class all over the world, paid for by the same people who pay for the “premier hotel of his choice” and the escalating “honorarium”. The guy is so enigmatic that he’s the Nostradamus of the New Age. “The best way to get rid of the pain is to feel the pain. And when you feel the pain and go beyond it, you’ll see there’s a very intense love that is wanting to awaken itself,” Deepak says. Be sure to remember that next time you drop an anvil on your toe. There’s a site that generates Deepak Chopra quotes from random words in his Twitter stream and, honestly, it makes at least as much sense as his official utterances. Take, for example, “self power is the continuity of intrinsic destiny” or “the physical world expresses total reality”. Sounds so wise, doesn’t it? Of course we’ve arrived at this point just as social demographers predicted. Driven by the baby boomers who now have enough money to seek meaning for lives spent making it, we’re trying to tend to the overgrown gardens of our souls. Why then do I feel like I’m being taken for a ride? Perhaps … hrm, hrm … because I’m a journey-least. \ sharris@theweeklyreview.com.au

f one more person speaks of going on a journey without actually holding a passport or at least an overnight bag, I’m gonna scream. Just recently an old colleague told me of the “journey” he’d been on since he woke up partially blind one morning and doctors discovered that a clot behind his right eye had robbed him of sight. It’s OK. They operated, and after open-heart surgery he can see again. But, mate, that’s not a journey. That’s a nightmare! Then there’s another associate who, after years of sloth, has simultaneously taken up jogging and blogging and now preaches fervently about his journey to well-being and the marathon of the mind. Puh-lease, you just ran around the block a couple of times. With roots in US celebrity therapy-speak and West Coast ashrams, “the journey” spread across the globe like wildfire in the mid-noughties and now substitutes for any experience from spiritual enlightenment to weight loss. Suddenly we’re all metaphorically on the move. And it’s not like we’re going to the seaside either. Take “life’s a journey”. Yep, last stop – crematorium! Why can’t we at least go somewhere nice? When businesses speak of taking stakeholders on journeys and politicians invite the public on journeys, it’s a non-transferable ticket to tough times. Incidentally, if Christopher Pyne pulls up outside my local school any time soon on the road to curriculum

s helpful as they are, too many travel apps cost too much money. It’s not the price that is the issue – most apps are free or cost a couple of dollars – but the bill shock due to data download charges that cause concern. With that in mind, these travel apps are not only best in class but, in the main, store data on your device. CITY MAPS 2GO – OFFLINE MAP AND TRAVEL GUIDE

TRIPIT

Email the various bits and pieces of your itinerary – hotel bookings, flights, car rental info, even restaurant bookings to TripIt, and it comes back to you as a complete itinerary. The free version should be fine for most holidaymakers. Business travellers might need to upgrade to TripIt Pro as it delivers live updates to flights and gate changes, etc. If you go down that path, ask for updates to be sent as texts, not as data. It will save the boss money. » iPhone, iPad, Android (free) TripIt Pro ($49)

There are loads of apps with maps, but what sets City Maps 2Go apart is that the maps are stored offline in your device. City Maps 2Go’s database covers more than 6700 cities, and if the city you are visiting is not yet available, the developers will create it for you. Maps are updated regularly and the app also offers tips from other travellers, as well as Wikipedia travel guides. » iPhone, iPad, Android ($2.99)

WORD LENS

A remarkable app that translates foreign words into English via your phone’s video camera. The app is free but you pay for a language pack that is stored on your phone. Each language pack has about 10,000 words and they cover practically everything a traveller needs from signs to menus. It translates Portuguese, German, Italian, French and Spanish into English and vice-versa. » iPhone, iPad, Android (free) Language packs ($5.49 each)

Travel Safe was created by Chris Ahearn and Jerome Appleby, pilots in the Royal Australian Air Force who understand the importance of being prepared and keeping safe. The Travel Safe app delivers one-touch dialling or texting to emergency services – police, fire or medical (ambulance) – in 200 countries. The app uses smart-phone technology to find out where you are and display it to you when you call emergency services and, if you text, it displays your GPS co-ordinates plus a pre-arranged message e.g. I am a diabetic and my blood group is… There is also a personal text button that sends your location and message to a pre-arranged contact. » iPhone, iPad, Android (99 cents)

Meet the principal \ Cheryl Critchley meets MAry Farah

M

ary Farah wanted to be a lawyer until she went to enrol her younger sister at school and was told she would make a good teacher. A seed was sown that led the dynamic educator to become a deputy principal at just 36 and now principal of St Aloysius College in North Melbourne. Mary grew up in Israel and attended school in Nazareth. She migrated to Australia with an older sister and studied a bachelor of arts at Monash University. The rest of the family followed later. At school Mary was a good “people person”, but thought that would translate into a legal career. “I never thought that I was going to be a teacher,” she says in her spacious office between meetings. After the fateful school encounter, she completed a diploma of education at Christ Campus, a Chadstone Catholic teachers’ training college that moved in 1999, and later her masters in educational leadership at the Australian Catholic University. Her first job was at Nazareth College in Noble Park, where she taught Japanese and religious education, soaking up the knowledge of senior teachers. Mentors have always been important and Mary ensures her staff members are well supported. “I loved it from day one because I was “i loved surrounded by people who were really supportive; my mentors were outstanding,” it from she says. “They gave me opportunities and day one” they basically trusted me.” Mary then moved to Thomas Carr College in Tarneit, where she spent eight years as curriculum director and then deputy principal. The school was new, so all the teachers helped to establish a dynamic curriculum. From there Mary moved to Mount St Joseph Girls’ College in Altona as deputy principal learning/teaching and then Catholic Ladies’ College (CLC) in Eltham in the same position. At CLC she helped review the year 9 program and introduced iPads. With the blessing of CLC principal Margaret McKenna, Mary successfully applied for the principal position at St Aloysius and started in 2013. The school has a rich history and Mary was determined to help shape its future in the tradition of Sisters of Mercy founder Catherine McAuley. McAuley was an Irish nun who started the order in 1831 after inheriting a vast Irish estate from a wealthy couple and setting up a school for poor girls. In 1886 Mother Xavier Fallon and five sisters established the first Convent of Mercy in a North Melbourne terrace house. In 1887 they began to teach French, singing and drawing before moving to the school’s current site in Curran Street in 1890. St Aloysius College is performing among the state’s top five per cent of secondary schools. Passionate about girls’ education, Mary has continued the school’s holistic approach, which encourages This year girls will use laptops in year 12 while other subjects such as maths and science while having strong year levels will use iPads. I hold dear the traditions of the past, the majesty of the present and the potential of the future.” Mary is inspired by modern education experts such as British-born educator Sir Ken Robinson, who is passionate about natural talent meeting personal passion and nurturing different personalities accordingly. But she is equally passionate about the work of Catherine McAuley, who lived 200 years earlier but had a similar vision and determination. “She was a great leader because, despite all the struggles and everything else, she had a vision,” Mary says. “She knew what she wanted to achieve in the end, and she did. If there’s a will there’s a way. I really take my inspiration and my energy and my determination from her.” \ ccritchley@theweeklyreview.com.au

own the street, into the garage, then whoosh! The car vanishes below the earth’s surface. James Bond never had it this good – but Batman? The caped crusader’s style of subterranean living, built for secrecy yet primed for a quick getaway, might have been the inspiration for this remarkable property, where up to 10 cars can dwell in harmony with a large family. At first glance, the house is a two-storey Edwardian replica, sedate in red brick with bay windows and half-timbered gables. But its calm exterior hides a three-level, high-tech hideaway of breathtaking luxury. Built five years ago for a classic-car enthusiast, it offers 105 squares of accommodation, 33 of which are in the basement – a cream-coloured cavern dominated by a scissor lift that can gently lower a car from the garage above. On the ground floor – and invisible from the street – is a 12-metre indoor pool, which has rockeries and fountains that would be a worthy setting for a Bond seduction scene. Against these marvels, the “normal” rooms do hold their own. Living areas and bedrooms are spacious, with high ceilings and a unifying palette of olive, cream and beige. From its red ironbark floor to its fretwork arches and granite and marble finishes, this house is impeccable throughout. Security, three-phase power, ducted heating and cooling, and solar hot water ensure cutting-edge comfort. The house has a triangular floor plan in keeping with its corner block in the Mar Lodge estate. Its front door is on Hedderwick Street, above a garden of photinias and roses. From the wide hall, double doors open into a study fitted with timber bookshelves and desk. The hall forms a T with a long corridor that serves as the house’s spine, connecting four bedrooms, the kitchen, meals and pool area, laundry and, at the northern end, the two living rooms. The main bedroom suite, at the southern tip, has olive-green carpet and a small elevated deck reached via french doors. In the porcelain-tiled en suite are a Lanark spa overlooking another little deck, a double shower and a marble-topped cabinet with twin Caroma basins and plentiful storage. The his-and-hers dressing room has shelves, drawers, desk, a mirror and walk-in wardrobe. Three further double bedrooms have leadlight box bay windows with seats and walk-in wardrobes with sensor lights. Two bedrooms share a tessellated tiled bathroom with a clawfoot bath and glass shower. At the spine’s centre is the French provincial-style kitchen, lustrous in Kashmir white granite and ivory laminate cabinetry with china handles. The 1200-millimetre Ilve stove and Asko dishwasher are complemented by a Shaw ceramic sink, and the L-shaped butler’s pantry has room for a second fridge. Bifold windows and doors lead to the pool pavilion, where the sandstone terrace and skylit ceiling promise year-round entertaining. At one end is a sunny terrace used for barbecues. Both the living rooms have ornate ceilings and bay windows framed by brocade curtains. The smaller room has an open fireplace and garage access; the larger is used as a rumpus room. There’s a second, much bigger lounge – currently a music and media room – on the first floor, along with a double bedroom and a shower bathroom. And that Batcave basement? In one corner, a fitted bar. In another, the car lift. The rest is amenable to any dream – billiards, workshop, beautiful cars, underground roller disco. \ ALISON BARCLAY property@theweeklyreview.com.au

Folding doors from the entrance introduce a large lounge with a gas heater, while another set of folding doors link the lounge with the L-shaped kitchen and meals area. All three bedrooms have pleasant outlooks and two have reverse-cycle heating/cooling. The kitchen has a freestanding oven and many cream-coloured cupboards. The bathroom makes a modern statement with twin vanity units and a frameless glass bath/shower with mosaic-tiled detail. Concertina glass doors link the meals area with the deck, and high fencing gives this extra-large, north-facing deck privacy. Keilor Road offers a traditional shopping strip while Westfield shopping centre and Essendon Fields are easily reached for more intensive, retail therapy. \ KAY KEIGHERY

MOONEE PONDS \ 51 PRIMROSE STREET A significant renovation of this Edwardian house has created a property with plenty of modern lifestyle appeal. The brick façade has been washed in terracotta tones and combined with grey shutters to create a warm Tuscan aesthetic. Inside, the Edwardian high ceilings, Baltic pine floors, cornices, picture rails and skirting boards remain. Fretwork in the wide hall is illuminated by a well-placed central skylight that ensures the front and the back of the house benefit from northerly light. Three bedrooms with built-in wardrobes run off the hall. The large main bedroom has a modern en suite, and the main spa bathroom has a glass-brick window to keep it bright. The architect-designed rear extension is instantly appealing. High vaulted ceilings create interesting lines, as do expanses of timber-framed double-glazed windows. Bulkheads delineate the kitchen and dining spaces from the large, rectangular living area. They also allow for two sets of north-facing clerestory windows, flooding the area with light. A pergola-covered rear deck is a perfect dining setting or party venue. An outhouse contains a laundry and another bedroom with en suite. As a bedroom, studio or home office, this is a great addition. A lush garden is screened from the deck and is an intimate space with lemon trees as well as veggie patches. \ EMMA HOUGHTON

This single-storey brick property combines the low-maintenance convenience of a unit with the appearance of a house. It is the front unit on a dual-occupancy lot with a patterned, concrete driveway to a single garage with space in front for a second car. The side of the garage faces the street but is disguised through the use of a bay window with timber venetian blinds, matching the lounge room’s street-front façade. The hall’s dark-red feature wall runs past the lounge to an open-plan kitchen and meals area, where crisp white walls and downlights create an uncluttered feeling. The kitchen has updated, laminated benchtops and ample storage space, while the meals area has double sliding doors to a compact, north-facing, private courtyard with a gate to the side driveway. Large bedrooms with built-in-wardrobes are carpeted, while the rest of the unit has terracotta-coloured tiles. The bathroom, with a separate bath and shower, opens to the main bedroom and hall. It is near Pascoe Vale train station, Strathmore Secondary College and parklands. \ SUE HEWITT

FLEMINGTON \ 7 MARWICK STREET Flemington’s north side teems with young families, attracted by the playgrounds, the community and the Victorian avenues. Here, the neighbourly goodness goes deep. The owners of this block-fronted 1890s house know the phone numbers of everyone in their street, and are ready to help – or have a Christmas party. The single-storey house, named Salamanca, will appeal to families seeking an elegant and convenient inner-city home. Extended five years ago, it has a modern kitchen and bathroom and an attractive rear garden. With its Baltic pine floorboards, leadlight doors and four-metre ceilings, it wears its heritage well. Two double bedrooms open off the central hall; both have open fireplaces flanked by built-in wardrobes. The third bedroom could make an ideal study. The living room offers 25 square metres of space and an open fireplace. In the kitchen, a 900-millimetre Smeg stove with six gas burners is complemented by a Bosch dishwasher and white laminate cabinets. The adjoining dining room opens to the brick-paved patio for easy entertaining. Through a leadlight door is the bathroom, smart in grey mosaic with a glass shower. With new air conditioning, custom-made sunscreen curtains and blinds and a security system monitored by mobile phone, Salamanca marries old-fashioned beauty with up-to-the-minute technology. \ ALISON BARCLAY

Tech Talk \ Rod Easdown wonders If technology is getting cheesy Then it all gets a bit cheesy. The Infiniti displays your favourite photographs of family and friends. Heaven help us. I have lots of favourite photographs but none of them of family and friends, so do I qualify? I guess I’m just not touchy-feely enough for an Infiniti. The scary bit is the Q50 will do all this for four different people. That means that if your 18-year-old kid has borrowed the car, you won’t be assailed by thrash metal at 110 decibels next time you crank up the radio. Infiniti calls this “My Car Knows Me” but really, I wonder. There are days when I like to be addressed by my first name and days when I feel I deserve to be called sir. There are some days when a simple “hey” suffices. I know a guy who once did PR for BMW, Infiniti Q50 and he would be mortified by a personal greeting from a car. He would immediately demand to know when and where he and that car had been formally introduced. Still, I guess the Infiniti approach is better than a few Mitsubishis I’ve been in lately, all of which displayed an overly joyful “See you!” at journey’s end. Oh for an off-switch. A 45-calibre off-switch. \ reasdown@theweeklyreview.com.au (supplied)

F

or some years it has been my contention that electronics are now so fast, so sophisticated and so reliable that their only limitation is our ability to think up new uses for them. Now I’m coming around to the idea that we’re thinking entirely too much. Take the Q50, a new car from Infiniti (just as Lexus makes expensive Toyotas, Infiniti is Nissan’s premium brand). It has facial recognition, so when you climb in and settle behind the wheel the first thing you’re greeted with is, well, a greeting. Just for you. “Hello (insert your name here)” it displays on one of its two LCD screens. Brrrr. It’s a bit like Hal the rogue computer in 2001: A Space Odyssey saying “Hello, Dave” so smoothly immediately before consigning good old Dave to open space. Having got the niceties out of the way, the Q50 will then ensure the seat and mirrors are in your preferred positions, the climate control is set to where you like it, the satellite navigation is prepped to show you the way home, and lots more. It will dial in your preferred steering weight, oh for an decide whether you want the car in sport off-switch mode or comfort and how far away you’d like to be from the car in front when you activate the cruise control. There are lots more things available … if you can be bothered to enter all the parameters. If you can be, it will know if you prefer an ABC or QWERTY keyboard. It offers 96 selectable settings across 10 functions, and the possible permutations for your personal settings run into the billions. You are far more likely to find a suitable match here than in a lifetime’s trawling of interior computer dating services.
