Get expert advice on developing a winning company culture, get the best out of your staff, discover how to get the best use of your resources, increase productivity and lift competitiveness. Consultant Chris Catto will conduct the workshops, which are capped at 10 participants, and will provide plenty of feedback to help your business meet its goals. The workshop is valued at over $5,000 but will cost businesses just $250 (early bird rate). Register by Friday, 16th August. Workshops will begin in September. Behaviour Guidance seminar

Parents, guardians and carers are invited to a free seminar to develop an understanding of children’s behaviours and some practical strategies for managing them. The one hour session will focus on the ages of three to five years and will look at healthy social and emotional development, behaviour guidance and building resilience, as well as question time with a panel of experts. The closing date for applications for the annual Community Grants Program is 5.00pm, this Friday, 16th August 2013. The grants program offers funding to not-for-profit organisations in support of local projects and aims to support projects or activities that will ensure that Hobsons Bay retains its vibrancy and sense of community while focusing on people’s health and wellbeing and sustainable environments into the future. Arts at Your Doorstep’s Kids Season kicks off with Emily Eyefinger. Based on the award-winning children’s series by Duncan Ball, and presented by the Helpmann Award-winning Monkey Baa Theatre Company, Emily Eyefinger is high-quality, engaging children’s theatre. Hobsons Bay’s new Language Line will explain Council services to people from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Improving Council access for all backgrounds

Residents from non-English speaking backgrounds will now have more access to services with the Council’s new Language Line. Hobsons Bay’s population is diverse with 31 per cent of residents born overseas and just over 29 per cent speaking languages other than English at home. The Hobsons Bay Language Line offers recorded information about key Council services in Arabic, Cantonese, English, Greek, Italian, Karen, Macedonian, Mandarin and Vietnamese, with an option to connect directly to an interpreter and a Council Officer, should the caller require more information. Recorded information covers family, youth and children’s services; aged and disability services; rates, local laws and fines; waste, recycling, town planning and building permits; sport, recreation and community centres. Interpreter access is for all languages. To contact the Language Line, call 9932 1212. The Language Line will officially be launched at the Council’s multicultural forum on Monday, 19th August from 2.00pm to 5.00pm at the Hobsons Bay Civic Centre. The new documentary on the New and Emerging Communities Youth Leadership Program will be screened. Domestic Animal Management Plan 2013-17

Hobsons Bay City Council has adopted its Domestic Animal Management Plan 2013-17 to improve how animals are managed in Hobsons Bay. The plan will cover controlling dangerous dogs, responsible pet ownership, identification and registration of animals, compliance and enforcement. The plan will now be submitted to the Department of Environment and Primary Industries.

Now 10 years later, she still has 20/20 vision without glasses.
