Envision: To imagine as a future possibility “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible,” Hebrews 11:3 (NKJV) Dear Reader, Everything that exists started as an idea. We stand on the shoulders of past generations who saw problems and resolved to find a better way. They were not content with the way things were, so they envisioned a different reality. Then, they made it happen. When you look forward, what do you see? Perhaps you already have a vision about the plans and promises that 2022 holds. Or, maybe you still need to consider what God is calling you toward. In business it’s crucial to have a 1-year plan, a 5-year plan, and a succession plan. The same is true for your life. While we need to strategize for the current season we’re in, we also need to consider what legacy we’re leaving behind us. This is part of what it means to have a Kingdom Mindset. In the first half of this magazine, you’ll find an article about how we can reshape our culture so that it reflects the Kingdom of Heaven for future generations. Then, our Vice President Karen Conrad gives you tools for how to take the limits off so you can see the eternal possibilities your life holds. However, there’s a difference between dreaming and doing. After you start to envision the Kingdom possibilities, you’ll need to take some action! In the latter part of this magazine, you’ll find practical tips about how to build wealth and how to invest responsibly so you can make a sustainable difference. God is moving, and we are prayerful that He will speak to you about how you can specifically partake in His plans and purposes. As always, please reach out to our team if there is any way we can support you! Blessings,

many churches today are stuck within their four walls. They don’t actually engage with culture to make an impact. When it comes to the Gospel of Salvation and the Gospel of the Kingdom, it’s not an either or—it’s a both and. Jesus illustrates this when He encourages his disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,” (Matthew 6:10). We need a paradigm shift. “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). Jesus calls us into new territory. So, discipleship to Jesus looks like diving into uncomfortable situations in an effort to bring the Kingdom of Heaven into unfamiliar spaces. Scripture encourages us in the fact that we have everything we need to answer this call (Colossians 2:10).

areas and ask God to help you shatter glass ceilings you may have. A great way to start is Numbers 4: 25-26 (AMPC) “The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).”
1. Past Experiences When you hold onto the old, there isn’t room for the new. Trauma, mistakes, and bad relationships are just some of the pain points that can cause us to drift away from our current season. Remember that you are a new creation in 12
you are living with the fear of man. If we’re not careful, what people think of us can become our identity. It can become a vicious cycle because any identity we receive from the applause of man must be sustained by the applause of man. This creates a dependency on people’s approval, and it makes it really difficult to follow God’s direction. Not only that, but you’ll never emerge into who you were created to be—you’ll be an echo of other people’s desires. If you’re afraid to take a leap of faith because of what other people might think, it’s time to remove those limitations from your life. Pray that God will give you the strength to live out Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV): “And whatever you do, do it

4. Believing Lies Ultimately, lies come from the enemy—all he can do is lie! (John 8:44) If I was your enemy, I would work hard to convince you that you’re worthless so you’d feel powerless against me. That’s why it is so important to learn how to

We often think of a prideful attitude as being obnoxious and arrogant, but it also has a subtle side. A prideful person puts their trust in their own abilities more than they do God. The result is that they limit their lives to the natural realm when God wants to elevate it to the supernatural! Be careful that you don’t elevate your own shortcomings more than you exalt God’s power. When you’re following God, He will call you into the unknown. Pastor Mark Batterson puts it this way: “God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.” Pray 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NLT); that God may expand your capacity to trust Him instead of your own strength: “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

economics tells us that every decision costs us something. If we value something enough, we will take action. That’s why I believe that, in order to have a Kingdom culture on earth, people must value what God values enough to do something about it. I have found that God shares His values with us in two primary ways: calls and burdens.
“
Sustainable mission work depends on people responding to burdens and calls.
”
A Call or a Burden? In his booklet ‘The Burden or the Call’, pastor and missionary Jim Zirkle uses the illustration of two people on a mission trip to express the difference between being 20
The friend who has a burden feels a pull to give financially to and pray for the people he met. The word burden has a negative connotation, but in this sense, it simply means to have empathy. Repeatedly, Jesus told people “I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,” (Mark 9:13). With that in mind, burdens aren’t motivated by a sense of ritualistic compulsion. Instead, they are motivated by a deposit of love from God. Just as a burden can come, a burden can go. You don’t necessarily stake your life on a burden. You respond in kindness with a gesture or a series of gestures, but you aren’t on the frontlines—and that’s okay! That’s where the call comes in.
The Call Whereas the first friend was content to express his values
from a distance, the second experienced a call. He felt a

If you tried to do both, you could not be fully invested in either. They would both crumble. Therefore, sustainable mission work depends on people responding to burdens and calls.
“
True wealth often doesn’t look like the world’s definition of prosperity. It’s much deeper than that. Worth > Cost
”
You have to ask not what something costs, but what it is worth. Think about a business, for example. In a functioning business, the buyer and the seller must agree that the cost of a good or service matches its worth. When they do, both parties receive value: the buyer has something they want or need, and the seller has made a profit. The same thing happens when we come into agreement with what God values. We pay a cost, whether it be with our time or resources, and we receive value in the form of purpose, blessing, connection, etc., in return. Here’s the thing, though--if you want to truly value what God values, it’s going to cost you something. However, when it comes to the Kingdom, it’s always worth it! “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys the field.” (Matthew 13:44, ESV) The man in the above parable reprioritized his entire life to obtain his treasure. He was joyful because he knew he was getting a sweet deal! True wealth often doesn’t look like the world’s definition of prosperity. It’s much deeper than that. At Tricord, we value the dignity of all people. So, we provide a way for people to engage in meaningful work, build an 2021 End of Year Magazine 21

shared a story about how, upon hearing about the need for biblically responsible investing, they approached their longtime financial advisor with a simple question: “We want to make sure the companies we are investing in have pro-Christian values and do not support abortion, human trafficking, and the like. How can we do that?” The reply by their financial advisor (who is also a Christian) was stunning. “I’m sorry, but there is really no way for me to do that,” he admitted.
“
The Solution: Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI) Given that the world’s climate is counter to the conservative Christian worldview, this story should not be that surprising. For decades there has been a movement within the investment community called Socially Responsible Investing (SRI). Broadly speaking, SRI is an attempt by an investor to align their investment decisions with their personal belief system and convictions. Until recently, Socially Responsible

This is completely possible with a pro-values portfolio.
Good Stewardship Good financial stewardship--honoring God with the resources He has given us--depends on applying a biblical framework to our financial plans. Billy Epperhart’s Top 3 Investment Tips STEP 1:
Don’t Invest in What You Don’t Understand
Do your homework and research an investment before you put real dollars on the line. As with anything, you need to prepare before you act. I always say that the favor of God is attracted to a spirit of preparation! If you’re just getting started and you have $1,000 to invest, initially the best thing to invest in is yourself. Get education on how to best steward your money, and it will be well worth it! An area where I really see a need for more understanding is the rising popularity of cryptocurrency. Before you invest in something like Bitcoin, you should take the time to understand as much as you can about decentralized currency. I do believe that the future is decentralized, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a risk you should evaluate before jumping head over heels into crypto. Check out The WealthBuilders Podcast for episodes on crypto, as well as general investment tactics.
STEP 2:
Invest with Your Winning Percentage
Your winning percentage is the extra money you have in your budget after your tithe and living expenses are paid. If you can, live by the 80/10/10 rule: Use 80% of income for expenses, 10% for tithe, and 10% for investing. If you can invest more, do so! You may have to make some lifestyle adjustments, but very few things that are worth doing are easy.
80 - Expenses 10 - Tithing 10 - Investing
STEP 3:
Diversify Your Portfolio
Has anyone ever told you not to put all of your eggs into one basket? That’s the same logic behind diversifying your portfolio. It helps you manage risk. To put it simply, if one of your investments was to go south, it wouldn’t bring all of your other investments down with it. Here’s a snapshot of how I like to diversify my portfolio: • 50% in low-leverage/debt real estate • 25% in long-term treasury bonds • 25% in the S&P 500

Billy always says “pay attention to what shows up at your door.” Dave and I have been amazed by the incredible opportunities that have literally come knocking at our door and we haven’t shied away from the hard work that naturally comes with those opportunities. Using my creativity, Dave’s ingenuity, and Levi’s willingness to jump into the middle of anything, Sweet Tea has become an adventure beyond what we could have imagined when we started. When God gives an invitation to participate with Him in a venture, He provides everything you need to become a success, but there is always a certain amount of risk involved. It takes faith to know you are hearing God’s voice and that He is trustworthy. In Luke 6:46-47, Jesus
