It’s now just days away… the iconic Chilli Festival and the excitement is reaching fever pitch. Now relocated at the Esplanade, Fremantle, the ‘Araluen’s Fremantle Chilli Festival’ presented by ‘Go for 2 & 5’ will be held on the weekend of 19 & 20 March. Opening times are… Saturday, 11am – 6pm and Sunday, 10am – 5pm. “The Chilli Festival event has grown enormously in popularity since inception due to its unique character and culture of sensational taste treats, infectious vibrant entertainment, plants, produce, demonstrations and reputation for great value. These elements contributed to it taking out Gold at the 2007 WA Tourism Awards (Festivals & Events) and being a finalist in 2008, 2009 and 2010”, says Araluen Botanic Park Foundation general manager, Rod Ross. “The move to Fremantle from Araluen Botanic Park in 2010 facilitated an expansion of the popular cultural theme and offers visitors greater accessibility options. The proximity of public transport plus the day-of-entry festival passout availability will allow patrons the opportunity to explore and experience all that this great port city offers, “ he adds. Here’s what’s on offer: • Around 80 stallholders offering a diverse range of chilli plants, foods, beverages (including exotic beers, wines and spirits), tastings, products and information • A comprehensive range of chilli plant varieties on display (including some of the world’s hottest) • ‘Masters of Menu’ interactive cooking demonstrations from a central stage all weekend, involving a number of WA’s leading chefs and ABC Radio personalities • Non-stop entertainment all weekend in the liquor licensed area and roving • Family-friendly ‘Carnival’ atmosphere
