As summer approaches and temperatures start to rise, your dog’s grooming routine becomes even more important. Washing and grooming is not always about making your dog look like a show dog. Rather, it is necessary to keep an eye on your dog’s skin, ears, and nails, as well as ensuring they remain cool during the hot months. A good brush-out for thicker coated dogs is very important in summer as it loosens hair to allow air to circulate against the skin. Regular brushing and grooming will prevent matting, which will reduce the need to clip the dog’s hair to extremely
short lengths. In saying that, some dogs benefit from a short summer clip and we do plenty this time of year (ask about the fluffy ears and tail summer special)!
