Christie and Davis insist party’s reputation is clear amid Nygard allegations By RASHAD ROLLE Tribune Senior Reporter rrolle@tribunemedia.net FORMER Prime Minister Perry Christie said in a new Canadian television programme that he has “no fear of any investigation” into his conduct in public life concerning Peter Nygard. He spoke via a phone interview with reporters for CBC Television’s The Fifth Estate, an episode of which aired last week. “I spent 43 years in public life,” Mr Christie said. “There’s no equivocation about my commitment to integrity so I just want to be able to say it clearly, and as strongly as I possibly can to you, I have no fear of

any investigation into my conduct in public life, full stop.” During the episode, several clips of Nygard and Mr Christie together are shown. One video shows Mr Christie at the wedding of one of Nygard’s daughters in Winnipeg, Canada in 2011. ...AS DAMES DECLARES ALL CLAIMS WILL BE EXAMINED By EARYEL BOWLEG Tribune Staff Reporter ebowleg@tribunemedia.net MINISTER of National Security Marvin Dames has again expressed confidence in the Royal Bahamas Police Force’s capability to investigate local complaints against Lyford Cay homeowner Peter Nygard despite allegations of bribery made against officers. “The Fifth Estate”, a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) television programme, last week aired an eyebrow-raising piece on Nygard’s “pamper parties” at Lyford Cay where it is alleged women

and underage girls were drugged and raped. The broadcast featured claims from former Nygard associates who alleged local politicians and senior police officers received money to help conceal the 79-yearold’s alleged offences. The programme recounted much of the same allegations The Tribune has extensively reported over many months stemming from civil and criminal actions lodged in the US and Canada. THE Candidates Committee of the Progressive Liberal Party has finalised 16 candidates to represent the party in the next general election, a group that includes old hands and new faces that will help form the
