Tumaneng is surely fortunate about the saying “When there’s no sacrifice, there’s no victory,” and “good defense comes in greater offense” as he didn’t think twice to defend their goal at all costs and commanded his teammates to position as a frontline defense. He managed to get back up after countless slides and dashes as he defended their goal and didn’t care about crashing to the floor as long as he prevents the enemy team from scoring a goal. MIRTHFUL COMEBACK
Sports and sociocultural have been in staccato for the past two years due to the Covid19 Pandemic. The perpetuation of different activities and festivities was put into isolation as people have to strictly adhere to the health protocols and stay in their own homes for their safety. Thus, blasé of people were caged for almost two years.
After the myriad exhaustion through settling on depressing indoor activities with no total contact with other people, the Cagayan State University – Sanchez Mira campus amplified the cessation of the pandemic by commencing campus intramurals for showcasing skills and talents of sports activities and sociocultural festivities.
Student-athletes together with the participants of the sociocultural events were able to celebrate their comeback as to where their fits, moves, and rhythms are justified with this year’s theme “Celebrating Optimism and Fortitude in Facing the New Normal through Sports Culture and the Arts: Year 2”. Indeed, the atmosphere in commemorating Aloft in Sports Year 20 gave a full blast of indefatigable energy from CSU-SM Peregrine Falcons.
The uncertainty of students in engaging themselves to mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion met in the middle of their smouldering willingness to participate and anew the unfamiliar feeling that was left behind over the past two years. With rusted skills during the pandemic gave fiendish thoughts, especially to athletes, and at the same time approved their doubts and self-pity even more. The austere feeling of the campus environment to the athletes reflects the uneven time of preparation, adding to the fact that it was done amid the grind of academic activities.

new environment is not easy. The daily routine we have before the pandemic is different from what we do now. Activities were limited due to strict adherence to COVID-19 health protocols, thus, the situation to adjust to the new normal, especially for students who are hustling in their academics and extra-curricular activities is indeed quite exhausting, and more so, draining.
As the easing of the pandemic created a breakthrough and paved the way for the whole world to breathe, bearing the torch of fortitude, students were enabled to face adversities courageously. Triumphant victories don’t only determine what possibly an athlete can give, but tests the strength of their spirits. Athletes are so into sports activities that the gleam on their faces reflects their commitment and dedication as they run and fight for gold, silver, and bronze.
Starting from day one, the avowal piercing in the eyes of every Peregrine Falcon is insufferably optimistic as to the success of Cagayan State University –Sanchez Mira campus’s Aloft in Sports Year 20. What matters most is that students took this chance to take a break from the draining school works and academic requirements, as well as professors and instructors, had this opportunity to temporarily forget the stress caused by numerous paper works.

For two years, the world was plunged into darkness. The earth seemed to spin slower, as days passed by in a blur. The busy out doors became empty, and the quiet indoors became full.
For two years, the interaction be came limited. We had to wear masks and observe physical distancing. However, things are starting to look up now.
The school intramurals is one of the highlights of being a student. When restrictions were lifted, and we were allowed to meet face to face for classes again, one of the talks around the school is the return of intramurals. When news of its confirmation reached my fellow CSUans, the atmosphere became excited. Athletes that were limited

during the pandemic began training and warming up. Performers had a noticeable bounce on their steps as they met with their fellows during the break, planning for their comeback performance after not being on stage for quite some time. Instruments and art materials were also brought out of their cases once again.
Sports and socio-cultural activities are, without a doubt, a big part of the life of a millennial. For some of us, it’s the fire that keeps us going… the purpose in life that we hold on to. But then again, though we are in the mod ern world now, there are still some elders (and also some millennials) who believe that sports and arts are of no use and won’t take us anywhere.
We know better of course.
They can say that, but they aren’t aware that sports and socio-cultural activities also benefit the non-believ ers of their importance in our lives. Sports for example, surely let us
exercise our bodies, benefiting our physical and even mental health as some sports can improve memory and focus. For non-players like me, simply watching a game can inspire us to do better or at least try. The motivation to move is there, but most of the time, it goes unnoticed, that’s why some find sports activities pointless.
Sports and sociocultural activities are, without a doubt, a big part of the life of a millennial.
On the other hand, the arts are also beneficial in their ways. It is confirmed by scientists that looking at artwork and listening to music can calm the mind. Other than that, it also exercises our minds in a way that encourages us to think and come up with our interpretation of the pieces. Put in another way, it allows us to practice critical thinking. WHAT LIES BEHIND THE LENS
“Pitik”, a modern Filipino word used for capturing photos has been a sub ject of excitement these days among the majority as people use it to call the attention of a photographer to pose for a picture. Unlike before, people are now capable to buy their DLSR camera for high-quality pictures. Facebook pages that post pictures of snaps of people are growing online especially on Facebook as people are fond of being captured and featured online.
Cagayan State University – San chez Mira campus had designated its documenting team for the Aloft in Sports 20 or the campus intramurals 2022 such as the official campus stu dent publication, the Campus Student Council, and other specialized clubs. You can observe how dedicated these students are in involving themselves in documentation, most especially the student writers and photographers as they were tirelessly running to find in formation about the event and capture the best shots to be posted online on the official Facebook page of the cam
pus publication.
are also claimed to be therapeutic and some psychologists are recom mending their patients try them as their therapy.
Socio-cultural activities are also beneficial. I cannot dance even if my life depended on it, but I do know that dances are more than just move ments. To pin those movements, one needs to be conditioned to perform those movements. How? By exercise. What benefits of exercise? Sound body and sound mind. Other than that, performances challenge our senses’ coordination with each other.
Those are just some of the benefits that sports, arts, and socio-cultural activities have. It may not seem much when listed down and printed on paper, but if we try it ourselves for at least a couple of weeks and get used to it, we will be able to see the results. Even if we’re just audiences at the side, we could still see the results as long as we’re attentive down to the smallest detail.
What lies behind the TTS Lens is a pure act of service for the campus. We don’t waste blood, sweat, and tears for popularity gain, or flex.
The fact that some students now have no idea about what we are doing as an organization, and some also don’t have the slightest idea about the role we play as student journalists. Pho tographers? Snap-takers? NO, WE ARE NOT MERELY JUST PHOTOGRAPHERS NOR SNAP-TAKERS. We document events, we cover newsworthy events, we write news about events, and we publish paper issues regarding the campus.
Since the first day of campus in tramurals, a lot of bashing and de mands have been encountered by the publication office from students, most especially that most students are so-called “keyboard warriors”
can now attack the student publication negatively through private messages, which for The Touchstone Facebook page admins, is emotionally and men tally stressing. We take “pitiks” to break the ice of our continuous post ing about serious matters, we do not take “pitik”s to serve them as their photographers.
“Magpo-post lang ng pictures eh, ang tagal pa”, is just one among the many feedbacks that we receive from our fellow students. Facebook posting? Easy? Yes, it’s easy to say, but can you also think about the possible burdens we have just to make sure your photos would be posted? We are understaffed because we are also students like you, we are also athletes, we are contes tants, and we are student leaders, but we are trying our very best to meet your demands.
In addition, we are not paid. Within the three-day campus intramurals, I often encounter students asking if we’re paid in covering the event or not. We are ACTIVE and DEDICATED
campus student journalists. We do this voluntarily because we are commit ted to publishing newsworthy stories. We are paid for our hard work if our coverage is successful, and draining us physically, mentally, and emotionally doesn’t help.
What lies behind the TTS Lens is a pure act of service for the campus. We don’t waste blood, sweat, and tears for popularity gain, or flex. If documenting is as easy as taking pictures only and posting them on Facebook with a cap tion, then don’t you think anyone could be part of the student publication? But, how reliable are they? How consistent will they be in documenting? Are they genuine or are they only after the pop ularity they get from their DSLR cam eras hanging around their necks?
Working behind the lens could also lead to mental, physical, and emotional distress but we won’t let empty cans stop us from doing our endeavors as campus writers.

No Need for Speed Limit
ALLEN ANCISO
Beyond the mark is a burst of DASH that speaks Determination, Agility, Strength and the rest is History. This is the tale of a talented young sportsperson from the College of Teacher Education who accelerates quickly. This lean but muscularly built man was able to disregard sprains, sores, and agony brought on by running didn’t force him to give up on his goal of winning a gold medal.
His running career began when he was 19 years old as a novice runner on the expansive green track of the Sanchez Mira Campus of Cagayan State University. He ran a total of 1500 meters which is a short-distance footrace that is conducted with all-out speed. It’s an undeniable record and no one can ignore that he really put every ounce of effort to practice. This big aspect of his life as an athlete raised his game level. Constant correct practice makes excellence.
Numerous obstacles provide him a good cause to fasten his shoelace and advance toward the goal. A runner cannot succeed without getting the right kind of exercise, gaining energy, and strengthening his immune system. He experienced certain difficulties compared to other athletes because of time constraint. Aside from being an irregular student, he finds it challenging to fit in new obligations while maintaining his attention on the midterm examinations.
“Nagsimula ako noong college day na mag-ensayo. Nag-jogging ako sa labas ng CSU at sa field na” he said. As the intramurals approaches, he continues to manage his time for training making the most of every minute to get his body ready. He cannot accurately estimate the number of days or hours he spent practicing, but one thing is certain - he did not waste any time. During the rainy days, I t’s a rub on the head since he can no longer stretch and and perform basic active warm-ups outside. Being trap at home and school had clouded his vision of success.
But establishing a good habit, finding motivation, and testing his agility help him stay on course. He discovered that agility is the most important quality he has to have. He must therefore exercise quick reflexes, body coordination, balance, and the appropriate response. He must begin by always remaining agile in order to perform the various drills. This athlete excels in stretching and long distance jogging. He needs this in sprinting so that he can regulate his body.
Nature or nurture?
He carries the legacy of a family who has been making names in running competitions over the past years. His older sister has emerged as his greatest source of motivation as she shapes him to develop a strong body and mind. He holds in his heart the phrase “Tiwala
sa sarili” whenever he rans considering that her older sister also brought gold medals for Cagayan State University-Sanchez Mira Campus whom he regards as his best track and field coach. Given that her sister is already a hall of famer in this sport, it gave him the advantage to learn her from her knowledge and tips. He looks at her as a compass and doesn’t let pressure get to him. He can not let this make him doubt his own capabilities. His utmost attention and agility made her sister prouder than any family member could have imagined. He now has the opportunity to place himself in the running for the prize and finish in dazzling glory.
Moreover, the support system coming from his parents unlocks him to actualize his full potential as an athlete. They serve as his source of inspiration in all that he does. They provided him with the strength to continue pushing the boundaries, just like when he joined this year’s Aloft in Sports Year 20. There’s no limit for his speed, as long as the mark began, he’s courageous to take the lead. He was likely born with the ability to excel in athletics, so it wasn’t merely environmental factors. This College of Teacher Education student proves that talents may be a blessing and can be nurtured. Like all athletes, their main goal is to triumph and honor their college, but they needed support system that drives them to be smart, focus and goal- driven. Pure skill and greatness.
Despite just having received a half training, his fastest run and ability to stay on track proved that he had what it took to win the gold medal. Even though his race may not be iconic, by sticking with his sport, he can become someone every runner looks up to. He took a hefty deep breath after this exhausting race and twice blink. After a brief pause, he suddenly heard voices throughout the stadium cheering and yelling his last name. Sprint sports can be won by paying close attention and ignoring impediments. Nothing is impossible if you put your other foot forward, pay attention to that loud beginning sound, and then take off running as quickly as possible.
Run towards success.
It’s harder to win a championship than it is to take home a trophy. Behind that golden thing is an understanding of name-marking. Therefore, to reach that zenith of success, it requires every drop of perspiration and every heartbeat flip-flop. Great emphasis is therefore given to an athlete who believes in his own speed and endurance. Always keep in mind constant correct practice.
The best athletes in sports history have all started out as amateur competitors. Some may have started, some might be shy, and some might just be pulling over. Nevertheless, James Pamittan is already beginning to roar like a cheetah as he ran his race.

A journalist or A culturist?
It was the week for the intramural preparation, And there I was, doing a math examination, But I was glad that I did well in the calculation, But boy, it’s not yet time for some relaxation.
Before the intramurals, I planned not to Butexist,my team needed someone to support and assist, I was tempted to get absent but I did eventually resist, Then I remembered; “I was not an athlete but a journalist.”
I didn’t have any sports but I was given an assignment, An opinion writing with the usage of my Andjudgment, a sports news with the best of my compliment, Then I said; “guess this was my calling throughout the event.”
Then my English teacher said; “compete in the extemporaneous,” But then my thoughts replied negatively spontaneous, Then I Said; “Sir, what if my answer is over extraneous,” But he replied: “You can do it, don’t be so ridiculous”
My mind was like; “Jeez Louise”, I was in terrible anxiety, “How can I manage this super consecutively?”
“I didn’t have enough preparation and experience honestly” “I think they have decided things
quite balmly.”
It was adrenaline, but I didn’t catch off guard, It was my first experience so I thought it would be hard, But after moments of walking backward and forward, “I could finally release my winning trump card!”
It was my first time doing an article while preparing for a speech, But it was an upright experience that I want to reach, Even though my overthinking was about to breach, All that I can say is; “self, you deserve the preach.”
I was worried too much, but in the end, I’ve done it, I was so close to anxiously trembling but I did not quit, Even though I lost there’s a wisdom that I admit, “I am proud of the experience I’ve gained even just a bit,”
This is my journalist and culturist tense, At first, it was a tension of eager suspense, It was heavy, uneasy, and undoubtedly dense But I could say that in the end; “it was a great experience.”
