3. How has the Resident Assistant experience informed your understanding of developing inclusive residential communities? The Resident Assistant experience has opened my eyes to increasing my understanding of the importance of developing inclusive residential communities. Learning from the various diversity and inclusion trainings and through working hand in hand with residents and students I have been able to understand and embrace resident differences and their needs. This role has opened me to working in a community that is an inclusive living environment for all residence. Developing a community that is purposeful, open, caring and celebrative of all walks of life. The RA role has informed my understanding of creating an open community. An open community where freedom of expression is uncompromisingly protected, and civility is powerfully afďŹ rmed. Creating and maintaining a living environment for residence to feel secure and protected to express themselves while also respecting other opinions and views is something I have learned throughout my duration at Wentworth and within my role. This experience has informed my understanding of the how essential the development and protection of our residence’s individuality and uniqueness within an inclusive residential community is to the RA role.
