JUNE 2020 VOL. 20 ISSUE 6

FROM THE EDITOR'S CHAIR n By Bob Twigg

Looking through a March issue of TMX I was pleased to read of Billy Bolt's win in the 2020 Super Enduro Championship. He is a really good trials rider and I think that makes a difference. Well done for achieving that goal at 22! I think it was Dave Grimshaw who when he was in the IOM witnessed David Knight riding his enduro bike. David G reckoned that "Knighter" could do more things on his enduro bike than the average trials rider could on a proper trials iron (Well he was British trials champion)! "Grimbo" was an ace trials rider years ago, it must be something to do with the "delicate touch" that trials riders need (I never had it)! What do you enduro chaps think? The Sonora desert rally in Mexico had 1,358 KM's of racing along with 1,000 KM of stages, you have got to be a very fit man to do that, well done American Ricky Brabec, a worthy winner for the third time. I wasn't sure I liked the article in an April TMX about the inevitability of us all using electric bikes in the future. The problem as I see it is that we will need a power station on every street corner if everyone is forced to abandon petrol bikes. Some years ago "famous" politicians (YUK) told us all to buy diesels. I can tell you that having worked on lorries for some years I could have told them DON'T DO IT! Apart from the appalling "stink" they create I can see very little to recommend diesel cars. The Oset bikes are good but electric trials bikes for adults will be expensive and as far as I can see very limited in their use, though of course that may change. What will we do with all the petrol bikes still being sold and used every weekend? Let's all be like Captain Tom at nearly 100, he is a real hero, we all hope to see an end to this virus, all the best.

All material for TSM should reach the editor by the tenth day of the month preceding publication.

Andy Wood writes‌. Signs are beginning to show about a cautious resumption of sporting motorcycle activity. Of course this has to be undertaken in a controlled manner strictly adhering to any government guidelines and those issued by the ACU. This will mean an extra workload for all the keen volunteers, members of clubs who organise events and just as importantly those who take part to strictly adhere to any extra conditions that will have to be imposed. No doubt many look forward to taking part but just as importantly there will be the pleasure of enjoying the social aspect of events as well. Keep safe and keep well.Â
