of walks across the Strath. If you are looking to expend some energy then head for the Laggan 10k and Fun Run on 31st May. The golf season tees off with open competitions at Carrbridge and Kingussie Golf Clubs. For the less energetic Revack Estate is offering a Whisky Wander as part of Strathspey in May.

If it’s a dance you are after then head over to The Aviemore and the Cairngorms Walking Festival finale Ceilidh Supper at the Hilton Coylumbridge on the 16th or to the Aviemore Village Hall on the 31st. The Hilton also has local musician Ann Dickson performing every Thursday evening at 8.30.

Boat of Garten May Festival, 23rd to 25th May, is another great reason to get out and about this month, check out the events in the What’s On listings.

There is lots to choose from if you are looking to eat out, the Sunday lunches at the Garth Hotel in Grantown and the Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore come highly recommended as does the Farmers Market with cooking demonstrations this month taking place at Grantown on the 4th of May.

On the animal front the new baby reindeers at Glenmore have arrived and Cairngorm Mountain have a Mountain Rescue Dog Demonstration on 2nd May. The Ospreys will be heading back to Loch Garten and the RSPB are holding fascinating talks throughout the month, try the Night Walk to see Moths and Bats at Insh Marshes. Music, song, dance and entertainment it’s around every corner! See the What’s On listings for details. If you are in need of a laugh then head to the Boat of Garten Village Hall on the 24th for an afternoon with Fred MacAulay.
