Hello!

Autumn and winter are truly special seasons at The Roses. Touring shows return after a summer hiatus and we eagerly prepare for our annual Christmas pantomime. This year, we are thrilled to present Cinderella!

We received hundreds of applications for our cast, and after a meticulous selection and audition process, I am excited to see these talented performers bring the story to life on stage. Our pantomime is currently our sole inhouse production, a labour of love that takes a full year to create, from script writing to casting and rehearsals. It’s a production our team takes great pride in, filled with glamour, humor, and sparkle — the perfect way to usher in the festive season.

We are also gearing up for a significant milestone — our 50th anniversary in 2025. It’s incredible to think that it’s been nearly 50 years since Princess Anne opened our doors. We have a lot planned to celebrate this momentous occasion, including the launch of our new creative health programme, which relies on the support of the Big Give fundraising campaign. You can find more details on page 4.

I hope this season brings you many opportunities to create lasting memories with your friends and family at The Roses.

In similar projects run by Arts and Minds, a leading arts and mental health charity, those with depression see a 73% decrease in symptoms by taking part in creative activities.

Support The Roses

Did you know that even if The Roses sold out every performance, ticket sales would not cover running costs?

Up to 80% of the money we earn from ticket sales goes straight to the producers, artists, and film distributors.

This is why The Roses is a charity. Our mission is to bring joy through the performances we put on our stage and our community work which includes everything from creative sessions for children with autism, our groundbreaking Roses Young Creatives, those with health issues, opportunities for emerging artists to grow their confidence and weekly social events.

If you would like to support The Roses to bring joy, create a place to call home for the community, and inspire the next generation of artists there are lots of ways to do this. Every penny makes a difference, and you can support The Roses all-year-round, by donating online at rosestheatre.org or by phoning the Box Office.

Interested in making a larger gift? Get in touch with our Development Manager, Grace, grace.end@rosestheatre.org if you would like to talk to us about your gift.

Leave a Gift in your Will

The Roses is a place for everyone at every stage of life. We are committed to providing artistic opportunities and inspiring the next generation. You can help us to do this by leaving a gift in your will.

Leaving a gift, little or large, is simple to do by phoning your solicitor and letting them know our charity name and number (The Roses Theatre Trust | 1051708).

If you are planning to remember us in your will please let us know so we can keep you informed about our work.

TUE 1 OCT 8.00PM

Hannah Scott has become a consummate storyteller. Her music is shaped by human stories, in all its chaos and glory, sitting at the heart of her work.

Her lyrics are powerful and poignant, and her voice feels strangely familiar, though you can’t quite put your finger on why. Her writing may be deeply personal, but her music has a universal appeal that extends beyond the melodies you catch yourself humming days after listening to her songs.

Shock Horror: A Ghost Story

WED 2 OCT 7.30PM THU 3 OCT 2.00PM & 7.30PM

A nightmare is about to break free…

Herbert grew up in the Metropol. The eerie old cinema was his playground and prison — a place where endless late-night horror films were his only window to the world.

But what lurked in the Metropol’s darkness? Now Herbert’s back, searching for answers to long-buried questions. But for him and for you, the real horror has only just begun…

Inspired by classic theatre ghost stories and cinema’s greatest frights, Shock Horror is a chilling journey into a haunted past. Combining live performance and big-screen action, it’s full of shivers, shrieks and shocking revelations.

SUN 10 NOV 2.00PM

Five Foot Two and Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans are just two of the many fabulous songs from the 1920s and 1930s.

Clarinet Marmalade create arrangements which try to stay faithful to the original songs, without losing the energy and humour of the period. Whether it’s top-tapping songs from Vaudeville, or early swing, their performances always offer something different.

Entry is free and donations are welcome.
