109. Pair, All-Original German Bisque Child Dolls as Candy Containers

23� (58 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, very plump cheeks, blonde mohair wig over plaster pate, composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, pretty antique costume of dotted Swiss, undergarments, leather shoes, silk bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 16 x. Comments: Kestner, circa 1882. Value Points: pretty wide-eyed child with lovely luminous complexion on closed mouth child, original body and body finish. $1500/1800

10� (25 cm.) Each has bisque socket head, blue glass eyes, painted lashes and brows, open mouth, tiny teeth, brunette mohair wig, on hollow cylinder body torso which opens for use as candy container, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, paper mache lower legs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: S pb (in star) H 4700 12. Comments: Schoneau and Hoffmeister, circa 1900. Value Points: the matched pair of dolls are wearing factory original costume and carrying little baskets of fruit, their costumes disguising their candy container bodies. $600/900
