KLARI REIS � Artist located in San Francisco � Uses tools and techniques of science � Exploring the line between technology and the natural


PETRI PROJECTS � 365 paintings in one year (2010) � Inspired by diagnosis with Crohn’s Disease and how her blood reacted to medicine � Usage of unconventional materials such as Petri Dishes


LOCATION

EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FESTIVAL 2019 � Celebration of science and technology � Two weeks; annually � World’s first science festival


� Festival takes over venues across the city, including some galleries, museums and public spaces � Has an international approach � Features an annual theme (2018 - Life, the Universe and Everything)


CONCEPT

WHAT SHOULD IT ACHIEVE? � Visual impact in interior locations of the festival � Creating atmosphere and mood � Tying all the festival locations together


WHY? ďż˝ A continuous design proposal throughout the festival ďż˝ Encouraging young and old minds to explore science as well as art


HOW? � Personal and artistic interpretation of our everyday bacteria � Using resin as the main material � Exploring colour, shadows and light as conceptual foundation


PROCESS


CONCLUSION

� Adaptable proposal � Conceptual foundation can be applied to a variety of spatial & architectural design schemes � However, materials are beyond affordable for a large project


FINAL THOUGHTS � Through projecting the bacteria patterns the costs can be cut � Easy installation; No particular hardware/sofware needed � Concept can still be maintained
