WELCOME TO NOVEMBER’S IN:FORM! November’s edition is full of information about what’s going on in and around the Centre – I hope you will find it useful. Tempest photography will be visiting The Red Oak on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd November (times are in the calendar). There’s no need to book – just turn up and wait. You’ll take the proofs away with you and ordered photos will be back in time for Christmas.

BABY CLINIC Please note, that there won’t be a baby clinic on

Thursday 15th November as our Centre is being used as a polling station for the Police & Crime Commissioner elections. Other groups and activities will be unaffected.

The next 5 week baby massage course starts on 23rd November. £25 per baby (with a discount for twins) for the course.

Everyday Parenting

A free 5 week, informal and interactive course designed to get the most out of family life. Starts 12th November. Crèche available.

Post Natal Group

The next groups begin on Wednesday 24th October and Wednesday 28th November.

**FOOD BANK** Loveworks – a local charity – is partnering with local charities & agencies who work closely with families & individuals – including The Red Oak – to provide a Food Bank in Merstham to support families in crisis. If, and when, families hit a crisis point that is so severe they are struggling to buy food, then the Food Bank scheme steps in to help. Families can talk to us and request a 3-day food voucher (for the whole family) which can be redeemed on a Saturday afternoon, between 2-5pm, at Merstham Community Facility, 44 Portland Drive, Merstham. You need a signed voucher before you can redeem the food. For

Novembers’ activities: Drop in and see us if you have a question or need help on anything to do with raising a family, or if you need help with completing paperwork. A small, friendly and open session for parents to drop baby baby in with their under 1s. Join us for coffee, chat & play. Drop-in to have your baby weighed or to see the Baby health visiting team... then stay for a while and have a Clinic drink while your little one plays. A 5-week course to teach you all you need to know Baby about baby massage. It’s great for relaxation, bonding Massage and communication. Call to book. An opportunity for dad’s to bring their children to a Dad’s Club session of play and activities. Open to children under 7, and their superheroes! A drop-in active session with ‘Little Sports Stars’ – the Little Sports specialists in children’s multi-sports and activities. Open to children aged 2-5. Stars

A group for children (aged 3-6) to enjoy, explore and learn about nature, the environment & wildlife. Run Fox Cubs with Surrey Wildlife Trust & Furzefield Primary School. See web site for more information. A popular drop-in stay and play session run jointly by Playlink Merstham Playlink (Welcare in East Surrey) and us. Runs at Age Concern, Weldon Way, Merstham Post Natal A 4-week course for new mums introducing a wide range of topics including Baby Massage, First Aid, Group Feeding and more. Come, stay, play & learn all together! Use all our SPLAT! facilities and equipment, meet others, take part in organised activities… There’s LOTS to do! SPLAT (hbc) – for home-based child carers – is on Mondays @ The Red Oak. A chance to come and do all the arty, crafty and Splodgers! MESSY things you want to do with your children, but without the stress of doing it at home!

Kids Zumba We are sorry to announce that our kids Zumba teacher is unable to continue with the kids zumba classes on Wednesdays so with immediate effect, they will no longer run. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

These are the activities provided by the Children’s Centre (or by our partners) that are open to all our families with children aged 0-5. In addition, we host or run some groups or activities that are only open to some families, or which need an appointment to attend. These do not appear on the calendar, so don’t worry if you are coming to an appointment that isn’t showing! We reserve the right to change the programme at short notice and recommend you check before attending.

Road Safety Week


Everyday Parenting A Helping Hand Whether a parent, Grandparent or Carer, this free course will provide you with some tools to make bringing up children easier. 5 weekly sessions starting on Monday 12th November, 12noon-2pm. The sessions cover the following topics: Tears & tantrums Value of play for learning Introduction to basic first aid You are what you eat growing up Valuing yourself A free crèche will also be available. For more information or to book a place please contact the office. Run in conjunction with the WEA Adult Learning.
