E-Recycling Event Underway! November 15th was Texas Recycles Day as well as the kick-off for our 2011 Electronics Recycling Event. Communities will collect through December 15th. This event is offered free to Panhandle communities. Communities have started to advertise and gather electronics from their offices and residents. Electronics will be put on pallets and delivered to one of five loading points in the region: Dalhart, Canadian, Memphis, Tulia and Amarillo.
All pallets are due at the loading points by either Friday, December 16th or Monday the 19th. You will need to contact the loading points directly to make arrangements to dropoff your pallets. Contact Elizabeth at PRPC for information 806-372-3381

Texas Recycles Day Awards! Each year on Texas Recycles Day the PEP reviews records for the previous year and awards top per-capita performing communities. Awards are given in two separate categories: Top Recycling Community and Top Composting Community.
This year The PEP RECYCLING AWARD goes to the City of Turkey, who recycled 141 pounds per resident! WOW! Turkey, at 421 residents, is a great example of a community never being too small to make a BIG difference!
The PEP COMPOSTING AWARD goes to the City of Dumas. The City has provided a Yard Waste Only Dumpster for every 15.63 residents, which can divert up to a ton of grass clippings, leaves and small limbs per summer! Great Job, Guys!

CTRA Monthly Price Sheet –
Attached is the CTRA Price Sheet for November, 2011. There are drops in prices across the board. This is typical for this time of year but you can also see from the far right-hand column that the prices are way down from this time last year. I sent out an e-mail asking if anyone needed to clear-out bales before the holidays, but after seeing these prices I might encourage your to hold on to your bales as long as your can to see if the prices recover in the first quarter of 2012. Let me know if you need anything! Thank you for all you do for the Panhandle! -Elizabeth
