goes to support the important work of the Scugog Library. • The second event of the Christmas season is also November 17, and is sponsored by the Port Perry BIA. There will be a tree lighting ceremony in downtown Port Perry, and Santa’s hut will arrive outside the Post Office. Bring your letter to Santa here for express delivery to the North Pole. Gather at Palmer Park for a candlelight walk, concert and the tree lightings. The tree lighting ceremony will begin at Water Street. Then, a Christmas carol procession will work its way up along historic Queen Street to Perry Street for the lighting of another tree at the Township Office. • On November 30, Santa arrives at his Queen Street headquarters in front of the Post Office to meet children of all ages. Santa will be available, until Christmas, on Thursday and Friday afternoons from 3 until 5, and Saturdays from 10 until 12, and 1 until 3. • On Saturday, December 2 at 5pm, the Scugog Chamber of Commerce sponsors the always magical Santa Claus Parade. This year’s theme will honour Canada’s sesquicentennial. The parade will start at the Fair Grounds on Reach Street, go south on Simcoe, east on Queen and along Water Street. • Also on December 2, complimentary horse drawn carriage rides through the downtown begin, and are available Saturdays from noon until 4 and Sundays from 1 to 4 through to December 24. • From December 3 to January 4, the Public Library will host the Baskerville Gingerbread Village. residents, and while you are at it you may just catch the spirit of the season. • The Scugog Shores Museum Village hosts an Old Fashioned Christmas on December 10 from 11am until 3pm. The historic village will be decorated for the holidays with evergreen boughs, bright ribbons and berries. Children will be engaged in activities throughout the village. There is a $5 admission for adults, a $4 admission for students and children under 12 are free. The hard-working volunteers behind each one of these events hope you, your family and friends find time to attend some of these festive opportunities that are sure to put you in the Christmas season frame of mind.
