Winter is Coming... As temperatures drop below the freezing mark, our attention should be directed toward prepping our homes to weather the winter as best as possible. Insurance claims will indicate that special attention should be paid to your houses plumbing; both inside and outside your home. To protect your pipes, and prevent the likelihood of them freezing, follow these easy steps: 1. Inspect your pipes, or have a professional inspect them to ensure they are properly insulated 2. Have all seals checked. Seal leaks can lead to cold air getting in your popes and freezing the water 3. As part of your final fall chores, turn off outside taps and disconnect out door hoses 4. Install frost free faucets (Hose Bibbs) for supplying water to the front and back yards. If installed correctly they can prevent pipes from freezing and also prevent water damage 5. Install water shut-off alarms that shut off the water supply if a leak is detected 6. Drain all pipes if you are going to be away for an extended period of time (more than four days consecutively) For more great tips on how to protect yourself and your home all winter long, visit stewartmorrison.ca, or like us on Facebook. A Whole Day Of Santa Before the hustle and bustle of his busiest season, Santa’s going to make a quick stop in Fenelon Falls on Saturday, November 25. From 11am to 6:30pm, he’ll join in on a day of fun, family, food and more. What is your favourite thing to do with the kids? There will be a petting zoo, wagon rides, face painting, decorating a gingerbread cookie, pony rides, a magician, visiting some of Santa’s reindeer, writing a letter to Santa and, of course, a visit with the Jolly Old Elf for a S’Eef’ie! All the events are free, thanks to the amazing supporters and sponsors. There will also be a lot of treats, giveaways and sales throughout the day from the local merchants in Fenelon Falls. And, what better way to end a fun-filled day than with an amazing parade? It starts at 5pm and will run through town. That will be followed by some spectacular fireworks to send Santa on his way back to the North Pole.
