As part of the beautiful Trent-Severn Waterway, Coboconk is a bustling summer hub and a busy stop for cottagers, as well as campers at Balsam Lake Provincial Park. It hosts a 2-day festival each year in June - Canada’s Fresh Water Summit Festival celebrating that Coboconk is the highest point in North America from which you can circumnavigate the world by boat. Located on the Gull River at the north end of Shadow Lake, Norland is a remarkable village marked by the granite that comprises the Canadian Shield. Everywhere are the cedars and pines that are reminiscent of Group of Seven paintings. Coboconk and Norland offer wonderful restaurants, a golf course, fishing, gokarting and mini-golf, snowshoeing, crosscountry ski trails and great hiking, biking, and bird watching. And the lakes‌ah, the lakes. What better way to spend a day than boating, fishing, swimming, or just relaxing on the lake. Come for a visit...we look forward to seeing you.

Marine Services

If the public wharf and government dock across the way are full, there are private accommodations for your boat just as you reach Coboconk. Boat rentals are available in Coboconk and in Rosedale.

From the Trent-Severn Waterway on Balsam Lake, you can take a short ride on a lovely channel to arrive at the Coboconk Wharf. Boating amenities include free wifi, and gas and ice are available across from the free wharf tie-ups. It’s a short stroll from the wharf to restaurants and patios, ice cream cones, accommodations, laundry, and groceries. There are several other beautiful lakes in our area: Shadow and Silver Lakes, Four Mile Lake, and the picturesque Gull River where JEH MacDonald of the Group of Seven used to bring his son for a paddle and sketching. Public ramps are available at all lakes in the area. And you won’t want to miss the historic Kirkfield Lock on the Trent-Severn Waterway.

Houseboating

There’s no better way to experience the beauty and majesty of our region than on a houseboat. Cruise the Trent-Severn Waterway, moor near one of the many islands on the lake and listen to the waves lapping against the shore. You can make memories to last a lifetime with friends and family.

Fishing

In the Coboconk and Norland area, you’ll find some of the best fishing anglers can hope for. Our lakes and rivers are home to all species including perch, walleye, muskie, pan fish and, best of all, large- and small-mouth bass. Resorts throughout the area host tournaments in season and the license-free Ontario Family Fishing events in February and July.

The all-Canadian 2019 Summer Season at The Lakeview Arts Barn is bookended by two world premieres by female playwrights. Rose Napoli's 'That's Amore!' is a Big Fat Italian Comedy where passion and pasta collide and we examine romance, traditions, expectations and love with much hilarity. Sarah Quick's 'Kama Sutra' is based on the very funny one-act play by Peter McGarry, that examines the drastic changes that can happen in a marriage when the wrong book is accidentally borrowed from the library! Here's the summer schedule for 2019: • June 19 to 29: That's Amore by Rose Napoli • July 3 to 13: The Numbers Game by John Spurway • July 17 to 27: The Great Kooshog Lake Hollis Macauley Fishing Derby by Norm Foster • July 30 to August 10: Leisa Way Stars in Opry Gold • August 14 to 24: Kama Sutra by Sarah Quick

Chamber Welcome Have you ever wondered what the Chamber is up to on behalf of our members and the community? Our focus is to deliver projects that will make a difference to the businesses or the community, and hopefully both. We advocate for our members about issues impacting their businesses with the municipality or other levels of government. We lend our support to other organizations to help them reach their goals of community improvement. We host opportunities for businesses to network, advertise, and demonstrate community support. We bring new initiatives to the community that our businesses will benefit from – like tourism initiatives, construction projects, or community events. In the past 4 years, we have raised over $400,000 to come into our communities to support these objectives. We have a street-front office location

in downtown Coboconk, and more than 130 members – including businesses, community organizations, churches, and cottage associations – all working together to draw resources and energy to our area to make real change. The Chamber is about a community coming together to make our towns better and make our voices heard.  That’s what being a member of the Coboconk, Norland & Area Chamber of Commerce is all about.  Every group, business, and person is important to the success in making this happen.  We invite you to be a part of it. And if you are planning a visit to our beautiful area, we look forward to welcoming you!
