March has so much in store for us OXO! As we continue to build on excellent programming, let’s be sure to make a true imprint in Macomb County this month. We had a truly impactful Black History Month Program thanks to the collaborative efforts of our Archives, Empower Our FAMILIES, Advocate for SOCIAL JUSTICE, and Uplift Our LOCAL COMMUNITY Committees! Thank you to all Chairmen and respective members for the hard work to reach 188 attendees at Macomb Community College In the words of MAB “How do we top that?!”
As we head into Conference season, please be reminded that at the 93rd Great Lakes Regional Conference we want to consistently demonstrate OUTSTANDING on display. Please familiarize yourselves with the conference guidebook, Protocol guide, and Sorority documents to ensure that if you are in attendance you are aligned with timelines, procedures, attire, and expectations. Please be sure to complete the emergency information form that will be emailed out to all attendees.
Our Regional Tamiouchos, Soror Veronica Cater is looking forward to spending time with us on Tuesday, March 5th at 6:30 pm Please see the Zoom details to join her for an insightful workshop that will benefit each of us as OXO Stakeholders Immediately following Soror Veronica’s workshop, we will have our monthly Executive Committee Meeting at 7:45 pm via Zoom.
Grab your green casual attire and coordinate with your Soror Squad for a relaxed meeting dress code to Casual Gorgeous in Green as we celebrate St Patrick's Day!
"WE MUST TOGETHER. WORK TOGETHER. TO SEE WHERE WE ARE. WHERE WE ARE HEADED, WHERE WE ARE GOING AND OUR VISION FOR WHERE WE SHOULD BE. BUT ALSO SEE IT AS A MOMENT TO, YES. TOGETHER, ADDRESS THE CHALLENGES AND TO WORK ON THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT ARE PRESENTED BY THIS MOMENT.”

In recognition of Black History Month, the Pontiac Creative Arts Center collaborated with Cre8tive Circles for a Quilt & Doll Exhibit. OXO’s Soror Yolanda Crain had the opportunity to display two quilts.
Quilting is an instrument of storytelling and historical documentation. Quilting can be used to connect back to Africa, heal, remember memories of home, discuss religion, emphasize social and political protests, explore women empowerment, and so much more. The traditions of quilt-making have been passed on through generations and continue today.

Sorors came out to express OXO Love!
Art offers a multitude of benefits that enrich our lives in various ways. It allows one to express emotions, thought and experiences in a visual and tangible form. Art gives one a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.
Soror Donetta Houser-Sly had the honor of receiving the Renaissance Woman Award from the Global Black Employee Network. This truly inspiring event represented BEN chapters on a global level including Brazil and London! Soror Donetta is a true HERstory Maker!
