Violet Bank Museum
Lee’s Headquarters During the Siege Located on the first recorded settlement in Colonial Heights, this stately 1815 Federal style house is where General Lee received word of the massive detonation of gunpowder that began the Battle of the Crater. City Point National Cemetery
Seven hospitals at City Point (today’s Hopewell) cared for the injured and mortally wounded and the cemetery there is the resting place for 5,000+ Federal soldiers, including nearly 1,400 African-Americans who died fighting for the Union.
