(Protect Our People) Yes it is true we have had a very disturbing few days. First the attack at the Lagoon homes at the caravan Park. Sunday Night a crazed man stabbed the owner of a unit. Then Monday Night we had a Murder in Navesink Crescent which was a Break in gone wrong Details are held back for investigation reasons. No suspects were arrested on the scene immediately. On the same night a little later different suspects broke into a house in Odlands Rd where they also stabbed one of the occupants. The one suspect was arrested on the scene. I cannot give more details as per ongoing investigations we ask that you wait for the official media release on these cases. I will now ask once again if you can afford it please get Robo Guard or something like this that will arm the garden at night. I also ask that if every house can put up motion sensor lights facing the road and gardens we will pick up movements much easier in the areas. Please call us for anything suspicious as these calls that you don`t make are often realized after it

It's now eight years later, and Gordon Gecko has just been released from prison. He struggles to adjust to a world that has changed so much. He hooks up with a promising young man who just happens to be dating his estranged daughter, and when business plans do not go smoothly, finds himself back in the game, using his crafty skills to take charge once again. CAST: Michael Douglas, Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, Eli Wallach, Susan Sarandon, Frank Langella, Austin Pendelton

THE KARATE KID – PG10 Action A remake of the 1984 classic, the storyline is virtually identical with a few twists. Our little hero relocates to China with mom, and soon makes a new friend (female) and enemy (male). After nearly getting beaten up, and realising that the little Karate he knows is no match for the bully's Kung Fu, he persuades the school janitor to teach him the Chinese fighting style. As per the original, things culminate in a knock-down tournament

CAST: Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan, Taraji P. Henson, Wenwen Han, Rongguang Yu, Zhensu Wu, Zhiheng Wang, Zhenwei Wang

We have moved often in our forty years of marriage. However, Jackie’s company has been one of the best. Very responsibly priced yet very reliable, efficient and professional. Kwanokuthula Taxi Rank officially handed over to Uncedo Taxi Association

Kwanokuthula Taxi Rank was packed to capacity - not by the people who were traveling but by the residents who attended the official opening of the recently built taxi rank which is rated as the most beautiful taxi rank in the community. This event was attended by national chairperson of Uncedo Taxi Association Mr. Dorisi Xhego and other top officials from Bitou Municipality. Mr. Lose the Taxi Association spokesperson gave the background of the taxi industry in Plett. He took us back to the days when they were driving small cars that were popularly

known as ‘amaphela’ parking them under trees in Bossiesgif as there was no taxi rank. When they moved to Kwanokuthula they had to drive around till they invaded land that belonged to St Johns till the municipality identified suitable land. Althought hey were not initially satisfied with the services supplied, Mr Lose complimented the municipal leaders for being patient and demonstrating good leadership skills during those days of negotiations as Uncedo avoided to settle for second best till they managed to get the taxi rank which its budget is 100% funded by Bitou Municipality. The taxi association is happy and satisfied by the standard of the taxi rank said Mr. Lose. The National Chairperson of Uncedo also expressed how happy they are with what has been done by Bitou Municipality, saying that he hoped all the Municipalities will learn out of this initiative. He also suggested that there must be a forum that will involve all the stakeholders to create a working partnership between the community and taxi drivers, a move that was supported by our mayor Lulama Mvimbi. When he went in stage he reiterated what has become his slogan or signature tune “Eita Bitou Eita” before he said the Taxi industry is the only industry in Plett that was only started by black people. He reminded people about their rights that come with responsibility as he encouraged them to take

good care of the taxi rank. The entertainment was provided by United Gospel Choir, Bitou Jazz Band that kept everybody tapping their feet for the sweat sound of Jazz, Aviwe also shaked the crowd with Afro Hip Hop song called Ndizokukhumbula before the usual suspects Slow Poison kept everybody close to the stage as they performed their sketches. KING WITHOUT CLOTHES… station without train! What is this all about you may well ask. It is the acquisition of Erf 2101 - Many years ago a station or depot was build for the use of the delivery of goods,by bus, to the business fraternity of Plettenberg Bay. Later on it proved uneconomical and it was used for a variety of enterprises. It is now on the market for sale by the owners Transnet Properties. In February this year the Council decided to approve the purchase of Erf 2101 to the value of R6 000 000.00. It was noted that the subject erf is situated in the strategic area and the purchasing thereof would have a long term benefit for the municipality. On the current budget there is R 3 million available and the idea is to finance the purchase over a three year period by external loans. The buying of the property in question was with the future development of the town in mind. With the total upgrade of the CBD and the ultimate ring road concept taken into consideration the heavy traffic would be diverted from the Main street. Beyond the physical body and mind there is something which is pure, infinite and eternal. Diwali is the celebration of the inner light, the knowing of which outshines darkness and ignorance, awakening the individual to one's true nature. With this realization comes universal love, compassion and awareness of the oneness of all things. This higher knowledge brings Ananda, inner joy and peace. The essence of Diwali is to rejoice in this inner light which is the underlying reality of all things. This essence is universal: we all have this inner light that is our true nature, our Divine essence. This is who we are beyond the limitations of this body and this life. Diwali is the celebration of the inner light that is always there, always present, shining, luminous, pure and untainted no matter what the circumstances of our life. This is cause to rejoice and celebrate! COMPUTER NETWORK Specialist. business software, installation & training. call 044 533 1385

BITOU MUNICIPALITY INTERRUPTION OF THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY SUNDAY 07 OCTOBER FROM 06h00 TO 18h00 Bitou Municipal electricity consumers in Kwanokuthula and Kranshoek herewith are notified that the electricity supply will be interrupted on SUNDAY 07 OCTOBER FROM 06h00 TO 18h00 for tasks essential to the new 66 000 volt overhead lines under construction in Kwanokuthula and Kranshoek. We regret the inconvenience to our consumers, but we would emphasize that the new overhead line is one of the phases required to increase electrical capacity, which is essential to meet the rapidly growing demand for electricity in Plettenberg Bay. As the power may be restored before 18h00, consumers are warned to treat their supply as live at all times. Due to anticipated difficulties with restoring power supplies from cold, this will be done one area at a time. However, overload tripping may still occur and consumers are asked to assist by switching off non-essential electrical equipment until the supply network has stabilized. Queries regarding these power interruptions may be directed to: Mr. Herman Willemse Tel: 083 701 7137 L.M. NGOQO MUNICIPAL MANAGER

Snippets for the Week

A great BIG thank you to everyone who has supported us with our Sterilization campaign. To the many shoppers, as well as the many people who continue to donate so generously. We are able to sterilize on a daily basis, as we now have the funds available to do so. We so urgently need to continue to reduce the number of dogs & cats in our area. I have been feeding a cross Husky for some time now. We have also provided him with a lovely kennel, bowls and a leather collar with a long lead, as he is tied up. He belongs to a family who is really struggling. I cannot believe that they have now acquired a new

puppy. This 2 month old is already tied up, with no food, water or shelter. Do we now have to supply another kennel, bowls and extra food? How do you try to get the message accross, that if you cannot afford the dog you have, you cannot possibly get another? This is a cross German Shepherd type, and I would very much like to find him a new home. We are also urgently needing homes for a 5 month old Jack Russell female, as her owners find her to be too active. We also have an unwanted 5 year old Maltese spayed female. I also cannot understand why someone who packs eggs, is the only breadwinner of a large family, is offered kittens from our area. Surely we are aware that no innoculations can be afforded, the diet will be poor, and if perhaps the cat is caught stealing meat (which is a necessity in his diet), he might just be grabbed behind the neck and flung straight

The case has been postponed to a later date. Hopefully, they will receive many hours of community work. Healing Energy for the Week Don't think about the future, just be here now. Salads and Sadza will be provided (and of course the meat), but please bring your own drink, plates, knives, forks and chairs. There is no charge for the actual braai - just come along and enjoy. Being a little person is all about fun, discovering the world and learning while you go about it. The latest BIA camp proved to be that and much more. A total of 60 BIA Gr 1-3 children from Crags, Kranshoek, Kransbos, Wittedrift and Kranshoek had a wonderful time. Our theme Jungle Book explored the world of animals and the importance of conservation. We visited Eagle Encounters, Knysna Elephant Park and Noah’s Park wolf Sanctuary. The camp however was not complete without painting animal masks and watching Jungle Book-the movie which the children nodded off to after a fun filled day. BIA would like to thank Lucky Break Backpackers, Knysna Elephant Park, Eagle Encounters and Noah’s Park Wolf Sanctuary, BIA staff and volunteers for making the camp a memorable one.

Tourism Survey to assess SA’s transformation

A survey to gauge the state of transformation in South Africa’s tourism sector will be conducted throughout the November and December holiday period. The National Department of Tourism (NDT) and the Tourism Business Council of SA (TBCSA) will embark on the survey together. The survey is aimed at ensuring South Africa has a tool to measure how its tourism industry has implemented Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE). B-BBEE aims to create successful businesses that are representative of the broader demographics within the country, and which provide opportunities for those people who were historically disadvantaged. “Transformation in the tourism sector is said to be moving at a slow pace and the transformation of the sector will contribute to the development of our economy and alleviate poverty,” said the Department and the Council. South Africa’s National Tourism WHAT'S NEW IN PLETT - 4 NOVEMBER 2010

Sector Strategy requires of the sector to achieve a 70 percent target by 2014. The survey to be conducted by Citizen Surveys on behalf of the department will show how businesses in the sector have responded to Black Economic Empowerment and also to what extent they comply with targets that are set out in the Tourism Charter. “The survey will also uncover both the challenges that businesses experience as well as the type of support they require.” The department and the Council further called on tourism businesses to cooperate by providing the necessary information that will lead to the conclusion of the survey. The findings of the survey will be released by February 2011. – BuaNews

Bitou cares about the development of ALL its youth The Bitou Municipality takes strong exception to allegations that the Bitou Youth Advisory Centre secures “jobs for pals” as contained in a letter to What’s New in Plett. The Bitou Youth Advisory Centre was established in May 2009 in New Horizons in response to a resolution taken at the Regional Youth Employment Policy Conference (2008) held at the Kopanong Conference Centre in Gauteng, that all municipalities should have Local Youth Units that are located strategically to advance youth development. The Bitou Youth Advisory Centre is a partnership between the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and Bitou Municipality. Through the partnership with the NYDA, the Municipality received R300 000.00 per annum for a period of three years from the NYDA. Funding support for youth programmes is channeled through the Youth Desk to the Bitou Youth Advisory Centre which employs seven people. Bitou Youth Advisory Centre serves all the Youth of Bitou. Anyone who doubts that can visit the Centre and see for themselves the work that we do to empower, support and develop the Youth in our communities During August 2009, the Bitou Youth Advisory Centre hosted the Bitou Youth Summit to engage and consult Youth on their needs. A major outcome of the Youth Summit was that the Youth themselves identified a list of projects and programmes that would assist in providing skills and training as well as business opportunities to Youth. The following activities form part of the Youth Programmes that have been implemented by the Bitou Youth Advisory Centre during the 2010 financial year: Drivers License Programme – 50 youth are participating in the programme Business Administration Learnerships have been provided to 50 youth A number of other learnerships are being contemplated in partnership with other government departments and development organisations 50 youth have successfully completed internships in the Municipality. Of these youth, 33 have secured full time employment in the Bitou Municipality and others were assisted to get employment elsewhere As part of its economic development and empowerment initiatives for youth, the Municipality has funded the establishment a number of

commercial ventures, inter alia, a car wash, brick-making plant that will be owned and operated by youth. Much more information with regard to Youth development and related activities is available from the Youth unit’s offices. There is also a comprehensive Youth Strategy document and policy which has been developed after extensive consultations. Earlier this year the mayor visited all areas and engaged with youth from all areas during the Mayoral Youth Imbizos’ It is really disappointing that some faceless individual locked inside his or her ignorance will draw conclusions of what is happening from their imaginations without making an effort to obtain the correct factual information. These remarks are not only disappointing they are totally not a reflection of reality and meant to mislead young people. The Bitou municipality as part of its developmental mandate will continue delivering to young people without fear or favour irrespective of creed, color or political affiliation!!!

Moenie my talent beskadig nie!!!

Skindertonge, jaloerse gebruikte vroumense; diegene wat ‘n problem met my gedigte ondervind. Ek het antwoorde vir al julle vrae… Dierbare genade! Moenie my talent beskadig nie! My hart fladder opnuut; Die opflikkering van hoop is in my stem; ‘n tikkie verwesenheid kom skielik in my lê; verandering in my gemoedstoestand is ligter. Julle praatjies is vir my genoeg aanmoediging… Moenie my talent beskadig nie! Met veel bravade as wat ek voel, stoot ek my gesig uitdagend uit en dit in elk geval in die openbaar wys. En beslis verder en voortgaan om meer gedigte te skryf; moenie my talent beskadig nie!!! Operation Smile now active on the Garden Route

What a joy it was to be part of the launch of the Garden Route branch of Operation Smile at Buffalo Hills on Saturday 30th October. These folk do such fantastic work— literally changing people’s lives by a 45 minute operation. Buffalo Hills is such a beautiful venue and we were treated like royalty with lovely food, super music and entertainment and wonderful warmth and hospitality by the Buffalo Hills and Operation Smile teams. Thank you. We’ll keep you informed of fundraisers in our area so you too can share the joy.

SA Idol from the Garden Route

We trust that Elvis Blue will continue to do great things and bring fame to our area….We are all so proud to have a “local boy’ take the honours.

Letter via the Editor I want the residents of Kranshoek, especially the horse owners to know, that during last year, I decided to distance myself completely from the horses in Kranshoek. The dogs and cats are taking all my time and I will continue working for them. I am also NOT the person that reported the injured foal, seen at one of our Vet's, to the press. I have no knowledge of this incident whatsoever. Heidi

To Wendy, Cherise, Andrew & Jevaunne

We are so deeply saddened by your sudden loss of Rick. May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared, comfort you now and in the days ahead. We will miss him. Love Kevin, Carina, Dylan, Ella and Roderick

Letter via the Editor Well I don’t know - there is so much ferubbel, gedoente, snot en trane about our Tourism here in Plett. But, say whatever you like, Dianna did put us on the international map Big Time! Never before have had so many ‘foreigners’ in the Bay. Yes, she did kick arse and upset the timid locals but she also set a very high standard of professionalism amongst our previously dozey tourism department. Her projects among the people, yes the ordinary people of all colours in our town stand. We had some great festivals and fun. Easy to criticize someone who sticks her neck out, but not so easy to replace with anyone quite the same or better! Thorn in the flesh

Letter via the Editor Lookout Deck is still Great! For just R49 you can have fruit and a juice and two slices of toast [served in a toast rack nogal], two eggs, bacon and properly fried tomatoe and toppedup with fresh filter coffee for your breakfast! But more than anything else what a view! Watch whales, birds and tides while you munch! Melon Daquiries for sundowners are an institution and a specialty and definitely part of our Plett heritage, most popular and my favourite is their Calamari with extra crispy chips! Thanks

October was marine month and Lunchbox Theatre has been busy performing our very popular whale show at a couple of local schools. And what better time to highlight the plight of our ocean’s whales as 193 governments recently met in Japan to discuss protected areas. And right here on our shores many thanks go to Tony Lubner and the Orca Foundation for sponsoring our awareness raising shows and for spearheading the petition to save our own marine protected area. A big thanks also to Robberg Seafood for the loan of their fantastic ‘fish masks’ which make a guest appearance in our show. Lets all be very aware of our wonderful marine heritage and do all in our power to protect it. Lunchbox theatre

The Plettaid foundation—an organisation that continues to do amazing work which directly helps people in need— had their AGM this week and shared this report… We thought our readers would also be interested in what they do

The Plettaid Foundation Annual Report

Year ending 2010 It seems to me that Plettaid, planning its 7th AGM, is on a tightrope. Can’t go back, can’t stay where it is, must go forward. And its going to take skill and courage from all staff, volunteers and funders. Plettaid has reached a platform from which anything is possible. Firmly anchored in its partnerships with Department of Health and HPCA, we can continue to meet the needs of a health and welfare service that has rallied well but is still hamstrung by the continued incidence of HIV in Bitou communities. Home-based Care has the potential to achieve more and with appointment of professional nursing staff the capacity to continue improving quality of services. The appointment of Michael Jantjies has been a resounding success as he has adopted the ethics of a civil society organisation and plays a strong managerial role. He and Anne have gone the extra mile since March as we have 4 newly appointed caregivers in training with Dept of Health. So far this is manageable with our second PN, Christine Steyn taking up the slack without fuss in the field. The decision of Anne Koopman, HBC coordinator to redirect her focus and train as an auxiliary social worker has opened a channel for Plettaid to expand and ensure that holistic care is real and the psycho social aspect of our service reaches the same quality as the nursing aspect. Helen Schaffer is adding great value to the team by joining as mentor for the HBC staff and this appointment has also opened a channel, for Plettaid to develop its Care for the Caregiver program, which has been

Min age 18 years. ONLY CANDIDATES WITH CONTACTABLE REFERENCES WILL BE CONSIDERED sorely lacking to date. Much effort has been put into moving our Hospice Shop to town. Entering town by having a stall at the market revealed how good it is to have a showcase for Plettaid in town. It is a great opportunity to not only raise funds, but to make friends and receive donations. We followed the modest success of the market stall by taking a considered risk and renting a proper shop in Mellvilles Centre. A few weeks in with this project and it looks very promising. Another risk has been entering into a lease agreement with Parish of Formosa re Trinity House, our first in patient unit. Here this risk is a shift in management matters that stretch our staff to cope with a new schedule. All indicators are that Dept of Health will partner this project from 2011 and if successful, surely each area of Plett can have its own cottage hospital, that family can walk to and feel part of their sick or dying one’s care. LOTTO has given fantastic support to Plettaid this year and our smart new bus is a realistic reflection of the standards of care BCHBC renders. Anglo Chairman’s Fund has managed to fund us for a third time and this is a much valued relationship. Community Chest continues with its annual donation and they are our oldest constant funders and much valued. Department of Health rationalised its partnerships by

ST THOMAS METHODIST CHURCH REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 7 NOVEMBER, 07:45 & 09:30 - 1 MULLER STREET On Remembrance Sunday we recall to memory of all near and dear to our hearts who have died. Historically the Church has observed special Festival days such as All Saints Day held in honour of all the saints, known and unknown, throughout the ages, who have kept the faith sometimes to the point of martyrdom. In addition, Remembrance Day, (formerly known as Armistice Day, when World War I ended) is observed in most of the world on November 11th. This commemorates all who served their countries and died in the two World Wars and in subsequent conflicts. We merge these two in our Remembrance Service as we remember and give thanks for our loved ones and all those departed who have influenced our lives for good and for God. All Welcome! relieving us of employing the Knysna VCT staff and although this was an emotional separation for us, makes good sense and their continued partnership is key to Plettaid’s operations. HPCA funds from Pepfar are good and constant, but it is their mentorship to us as a development site that adds so much. To us all. And attendance at their annual conference, to which Plettaid sent 3 delegates in 2010, introduces us to global and national trends in hospice/ home-based care work. I was personally very proud to attend with Anne and Michael and am certain we made our own impact. Nedbank funding has made our food parcel provision a constant service – bringing relief to beneficiaries and staff alike. All our donors, small, grand or in kind, can only be adequately thanked by increased efforts from us all. This has been a hard year for our board members. Only three active members and the burden of accountability has fallen heavily on our chairman and treasurer. This is a crisis situation and must be viewed as such until Plettaid has a strong functioning board. The shortage of strength at board level affects every single staff member and volunteer and I look forward to feeling the relief when this is fixed, which I anticipate will be by the time of our AGM on 1st November 2010. Once there is a strong board, we can revisit our strategic plan (this happens annually in January) and plot our expansion. Of exisiting projects and an objective in our founding document which is education and outreach, which needs to happen. We will investigate including non-medical site VCT testing and HIV workshops. After being so active for so many years, the Woman’s shelter has been very quiet. I have no idea why and feedback from our networking partners reveals no answers. We have to look into this during the next year and see if we can find a way to support women effectively, them being the group most vulnerable to HIV. There is going to be hard work to be done to maintain our 2 * HPCA membership as they upgrade their criteria. Dept of Health has mentioned they might need our assistance with a planned peer educator program. We are going to need to appoint an admin person and more caregivers. We need to make our volunteers into a strong force on their own. There is a lot to do. We can all be very proud of how far we have come. Report compiled by Amanda Frost.

Bumper Year for Bitou Tourism

Bitou Tourism in Plettenberg Bay is celebrating another highly successful year of destination marketing with the introduction of a brand new brochure, which highlights the appeal of this award-winning destination. “The Plett Experience – Experiences Spectacular by Nature” booklet promises to lure both local and international visitors with the area’s amazing offerings. According to Dianna Martin, CEO of Bitou Tourism, they have accomplished enormous achievements during the past five years due to the enthusiastic contributions of her team, various government departments on all levels as well as the invaluable support from tourism role players in the Plettenberg Bay regions. “Plettenberg Bay and environs have been widely recognised as one of the premier holiday destinations in South Africa and were recently voted under the top three sun and beach as well as top 10 outdoor and adventure destinations in Africa by the prestigious international TripAdvisor travel website. Plettenberg Bay was also nominated as one of Africa’s leading beach destinations for the 2010 World Travel Awards, often referred to as the Oscars of the international travel and tourism industry. In addition, Robberg 5 has once again received its coveted Blue Flag status, while Lubner’s Beach at Keurboomstrand was awarded pilot Blue Flag status earlier this week,” mentions Martin. The latest figures from the tourism offices show that the period of stay in Plettenberg Bay has increased significantly with some visitors staying for as long as 40 nights. International visitors from Austria, Germany, USA, UK, Ireland, Chile, Greece, Sweden, Italy, Brazil, Canada, France and the Netherlands have also started to arrive earlier to take up their winter residency, which lasts until Easter and sometimes even longer. The latest brochure showcases Plettenberg Bay as the ideal vacation destination for 365 days of the year with a multitude of activities to keep visitors entertained around the clock with a jam-packed calendar of events and adventure activities. The exciting line-up ranges from unbelievable animal encounters, nature and outdoor activities, a multitude of sporting disciplines and action-packed adventures. Accommodation facilities cater for all travellers and budgets ranging from cost-effective backpackers establishments, self-catering units, B&B and guest houses, caravan parks and camping sites for outdoor enthusiasts to family-orientated holiday resorts and hotels ranging from

Bitou Tourism’s Inspiring Africa initiative and township tours give visitors the opportunity to experience the vibrancy of local communities, stay for lunch or dinner and even visit an authentic shebeen. Historical and nature walks are also offered a number of times per week. Visitor service information was also improved with the newly established visitor information centre on Main Street. Centrally located on street level, this stunning, modern office space is definitely attracting visitors. The information centre is fully equipped and staffed to deal with visitor information and reservations. The centre features separate desks for activities, accommodation, membership and information. Information panels on the walls highlight all local activities, accommodation offerings as well as regional, national and international tourism information. Local community artists and initiatives are invited on a rotational basis to put their art on display for some local colour. All the pieces are for sale, which also creates a new market for the artists. The tourism deparment of Bitou Municipality has also actively engaged on social networks to broaden their target

audience and communication footprint. The newly revamped, multi-lingual website www.plettenbergbay.co.za offers great opportunities for interaction with featured video clips and podcasts. In addition, Plettenberg Bay and surrounds are also featured on twitter, facebook, various tourism blogs and travel websites such as TripAdvisor and numerous other e-marketing platforms and online media. Martin ascribes many of these successes to the creative collateral gained by the carefully and creatively executed marketing and advertising campaigns. Products such as the Plett destination guide, Spectacular Experience – 365 days and This is Plett had collected various awards for their eye-catching stands at various exhibitions and trade shows, including a gold award for stand excellence at the 2009 Indaba and a silver at the 2007 Cape Outdoor Adventure Travel Experience. Iphupha Theatre Group Igobondela their hottest show

Late that Sunday I also attended Iphupha Theatre Group show at Simunye hall where they performed Igobondela their hottest show. Many people call that day an entertainment evening, I call it a creative day as the artists were exhibiting their artistic skills ranging from, story telling, dance (gumboots and traditional), drama and comedy. The main play Igobondela “Women Strike Back” was the eye opener to those who do not give attention to their partners as it reveals the consequence of cheating and ignoring your partner. Yedwa Mayila

BEST COMPUTER TRAINING IN PLETT Call 083 421 7085 Letter via the Editor We need to eradicate crime We have all been saddened by the senseless killing of a good man in a burglary gone wrong ... I was also appalled to hear about a shop owner who was thrown into the back of a police van when she accosted a shop-lifter (who left Scott-free.) Admittedly it is not good to take the law into one’s own hands , but surely the whole incident could have been handled better. The word on the streets now is that criminals can do a they please… Its all well and good to have the police asking us to arm our gardens and homes more effectively.

Recently I heard that an alarm company took over 1/2 hour to respond to an alarm … so that’s definitely not the best answer… Please people pray for our police force and the leaders as well as our town in general. Hearts and minds need to change so that all can be motivated to do their best. Just an ordinary Plett person. IS THERE a contractor out there willing to donate paint or paint a 5 x 3m wall for us?
