New Buildings Dedicated at Highlands Training Centre August 9, 2012 – Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea Saturday, August 11 will see the dedication ceremony for two new buildings at the Ukarumpa Training Centre in Eastern Highlands Province. The opening will include representatives and the CEO from the Papua New Guinea Sustainable Development Program who were instrumental in funding the newly completed women’s dormitory, which will ensure equality of access to training opportunities for women. The new dormitory is currently capable of housing 20 women in twin accommodation rooms, with plans for another 20 beds to be made available in the future. A further 72 beds in 36 twin rooms are already available for male participants. The dedication ceremony will also include the recently completed modern kitchen and dining facility. The state-ofthe-art kitchen will enable staff to serve up to 200 meals at a time in a large dining room beautifully finished in natural PNG timbers. This building along with the men’s dormitory, classrooms, and toilet block was funded by overseas partners.
