PEABODY AVENUE & CLOSE RESIDENTS VISIT WARWICK CASTLE In March 2019 residents of Peabody Avenue and Close were awarded small grants funding by The Pilmico Million Partnership for a day trip to Warwick Castle and Stratford Upon Avon for local residents.  The trip took place on Saturday the 6th of July and residents enjoyed good weather on their visit. Warwick Castle was packed with interesting things to do, both inside and out, and residents explored the  Battlements, towers, turrets, awesome interiors and the Great Hall. Children and families on the trip also enjoyed the interactive attractions and walk-through adventures including a new Horrible Histories Maze. Plus a highlight of the day was the spectacular birds of prey display. Everyone came home tired but happy and now the community is planning their next trip away.

COMMUNITY EVENTS & FUN DAYS The Pimlico Million has making the most of the sunny weather, working with local residents associations across the area to support them in producing fun and engaging community events and outdoor activities which bring residents together celebration of their neighbourhoods. In June we funded two Great Get Together events, one at Ebury Bridge produced by One Big Family, and the other at Churchill Gardens Estate produced by Churchill Gardens Residents Association. Pimlico Million Manager Jane and Chair Jason were out and about at Gatliff Close, and Wellington and Chelsea buildings on the 10th of July offering tea and cakes and chatting to residents about their ideas for projects to improve their neighbourhood. It was lovely to see so many new faces and hear your wonderful ideas, which we hope to implement.  We were also pleased to Partner with Ebury Bridge Residents Association, Ebury Regen Team, Pimlico Toy JOIN THE PEABODY AVENUE GARDENING GROUP Library and SouthWestFest to hold a community fun afternoon on the 14th of July at Ebury Bridge Estate, which included Shambush's Space Camp and African drumming classes!  And last but not least we hosted our own Out of this World fun afternoon at Churchill Gardens Estate Square and Hall on the 20th of July, joining SouthWestFest in a finale celebration at the end of their 3 week festival. 'THE OLD BURGUNDIAN'S' WALKING FOOTBALL TEAM IN OSLO If you hear the sound of creaking limbs and wheezing lungs emitting from Chippendale pitch on a Thursday evening don't be concerned. That's just the sound of the over 50's Walking Footballers getting their weekly kicks. For over a year now a rag tag army of ageing midfield generals have faced off on the astroturf for a couple of hours rolling back the years in Britain's fastest growing participant sport. They have even moved into a monthly walking football league as the Old Burgundians in tribute to Passport to Pimlico. 2019's highlight for the team was heading to Oslo in Norway at the end of June to take part in a European walking football tournament. All are welcome, the only qualifications being advanced years, a sense of humour and the ability to nutmeg our long suffering whippersnapper of a coach Ian to whom we extend our sincere thanks for sorting us out with bibs every week!

These FREE sessions are for men aged 50+, every Thursday 6:30 - 7:30pm, at Chippendale House Football Pitch, Churchill Gardens Estate,  Email  Ian.corpuz@theabbeycentre.org.uk  for more information about taking part! Plus Don't Miss Out.... Join the new Yoga classes at Churchill Gardens Estate Hall on Sunday mornings 10.00 am -11.30 am - pop into the hall for more details!

THE PIMLICO MILLION FINDS A NEW HOME After several years of working out of the Thamesbank Centre at Peabody Avenue & Close the Pimlico Million is on the move. We have managed to secure a space of our own for day time activities in The Churchill Gardens Youth Club building. JOIN THE PEABODY AVENUE GARDENING GROUP We'll be working with the youth services to offer all kinds of community activities outside of the youth club schedule, making the most of the times of day when the building is currently unused. We are now planning a term time programme of activities, classes and training sessions for residents of all ages. We would love to hear from you about what activities you would like to see take place at the club. Get in touch by emailing us at info@thepimlicomillion.org.uk if you have any ideas for activities and classes to run. We want to work together with the community, local organisations and residents associations to make the best use of our funding and share this great community asset.
