How to give your Doggie the Best Healthy Life – 100% Naturally! If you are anything like me, your dog is either your child or an equally important member of the family. The love we have for these fur beings touches the realm of true unconditional love and we would do anything for them! Therefore, in addition to the basics we provide our animal companions, such as love & attention, exercise & socialization, fresh air & sunshine, and feeding & grooming, I would like to share with you how to bring your dog’s life to the next optimal level so that your fur child lives healthy, happy, and vibrant for a very long time! 1. Feed Appropriately Dogs are carnivores, meaning that they are supposed to eat meat to sustain a healthy life. They are descendants of the wolves, who eat the prey they catch – including the muscle meat, organs, and bones, along with some fruits or veggies the pray may have had in their stomach at the time. They eat the prey raw (Have you seen a dog cook?) - which is in its original state, full of naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. Whole food at its best! This is what we attempt to recreate at home for our fur babies. Don’t worry! There are easy (and non-yucky!) ways to do this that ensure the proper rotation of proteins and nutrients for an optimal diet! 2. Avoid Toxic Chemicals Conventional flea, tick & heartworm prevention, commercial dog foods, vaccines, antibiotics, medications, tap water, shampoos, cleaners, etc. are FULL of toxic chemicals that pose great risks to our loved animals (and ourselves). Just look at the ingredients in everything you use! There are effective ways to keep our doggies healthy and fully protected, 100% naturally, using powerful herbs and natural substances such as Ionic Silver (as a natural antibiotic) and CBD (as a pain killer), for example.

3. Think Holistically Inevitably, as much as we want to give our fur babies a perfect life, things can go wrong. Symptoms are a way for the body to communicate. I encourage you to listen and try to get to the root cause of the issue and address that (instead of just covering up the issue temporarily). For example, if your doggie is throwing up, means the body is getting rid of something it doesn’t want. Instead of giving a toxic chemical pill to stop it, ask yourself: What could that be? Was it something he ate? Is he allergic to something? Was he around any chemicals? Is it stress? Don’t forget to look at the emotional cause of issues/symptoms. Animals are wise, beautiful, sensitive creatures that will pick up on our emotions and can sometimes serve as mirrors for ourselves. Whatever you believe the cause of the issue is, address it naturally and holistically using powerful alternative healing modalities such as Reiki, Herbal Blends, Homeopathy, Acupressure, Bach Flowers, Animal Communication etc., which will bring awareness and energetic balance to promote true healing. Certainly, conventional medicine has its place, and it is miraculous the advances in technology that allow us to care for our loved animal companions, especially in moments of emergencies. Please don’t hesitate to do what you feel is best for your precious doggie at any time. My intention is to offer another perspective in an effective “back to nature” preventive approach to support our fur children’s vitality so we can spend many happy healthy years together! Road Tripping With Dogs: Everything You Need To Know At Spleash, we think that road trips are almost always a good idea. There’s something about that feeling of packing your bags, hitting the road, and venturing into the unknown that gets us every time. But perhaps the best part of a road trip is this: We get to take our dogs on vacation with us!

KEEP WATER HANDY AT ALL TIMES Think about how many times you take a swig from your water bottle as you cruise down the road listening to your favorite tunes. Your fluffy pal in the back gets thirsty too, and might not be happy to wait until the next pit stop to hydrate.

Now, while the dog-in-tow aspect is obviously a good thing, it also comes with a few considerations.

While there are all manner of collapsible bowls and squirt bottle solutions to this particular challenge, we stand firmly with Team Spleash. Why? Because our handy little leash attachment doesn’t just serve your dog when out hiking… It works as a bonafide, no overflow, water bowl during car rides too. Just make sure you’ve filled your Spleash with water before hitting the road and you’ve got all the water your dog needs to carry you through your next pit stop without worrying about spills. Oh, and once you do get to that pit spot, you’ll be glad you have water at the ready attached to your very own leash.

How do we keep our canine pal safe? How do we make sure our trip is dog friendly? And what gear do we need to be prepared? We did our research, put it to the test, and can happily report that the following tips and tricks will help you on your way to a successful road trip with your canine pal(s). START WITH A (SAFE) DEDICATED SPACE This is the single most important thing, because: a) you don’t want your dog moving around the car while you’re focusing on the road, b) road trips can get messy, c) sudden stops happen. What’s more, your dog is far more likely to be well behaved if he feels comfortable. Begin by installing a removable seat protector like the Active Pets Bench Dog Car Seat Cover. The beauty of these covers is that they work great for kids and their crumbs too. They’ll protect your seats from muddy paws and scratchy nails, stop your dog from slipping, and give them a comfy base. Next up, invest in a dog harness and safety belt, like these ones. Your dog will still be able to stand up, lay down, and look out the window, but you won’t find them climbing your shoulder whilst navigating a six lane freeway. Finally, (and especially if you have a larger dog), consider getting a backseat bridge car extender to make more room out of otherwise wasted space.

(PS: if you don’t just want to take our word for it, check out the review Global Green Travel gave the Spleash recently.) CHECK LOCAL REGULATIONS While we (righteously) feel like our dogs should be able to go anywhere we go, sometimes it’s just not the case. Take national parks, for example. Some will allow dogs, while others won’t. (This is a handy little tool for checking which ones are dog friendly.) Another consideration if traveling interstate, is to pack any paperwork you might need for your dog, such as a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. This site is an excellent resource to look at before hitting the road as it can tell you what the requirements are for each state. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you’re up to date with vaccinations, and have a health certificate on hand for your pet. MAP OUT THE DOG PARKS ON YOUR ROUTE While most gas stations have open areas for your dog to do his business and catch a ball, there’s nothing like a half hour at an off-leash dog park to get their crazies out before the next three hour driving stint. Luckily for you, there are plenty of dog parks across the US, and this list tells you exactly where they all are!

“All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.” — Jack Kerouac

FIND PET-FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATION Once you’ve navigated a few hundred miles with your BFF (best furry friend), you’ll be ready for a good night’s sleep. That’s where pet-friendly accommodation comes in, and believe us, this isn’t an area that you want to take by chance. If you bring your dog to an Airbnb that doesn’t accept pets, you could face substantial charges. Similarly, while there are plenty of pet-friendly hotels (you can find one over at BringFido) you will want to check what their size and breed requirements are before showing up, as well as any pet fees. The good news is, an increasing number of boutique hotels are happy to host your dog, and some even go above and beyond in welcoming your canine pal, such as the Virgin Hotel in Chicago. These guys will provide a plush dog bed, a porcelain pup to stand watch outside your door (very important), and even custom bandanas. We might make Chicago our next road trip destination just for that! And remember: a journey well shared is a journey well enjoyed. Especially when you’re sharing it with old faithful. Those of us who love dogs proudly carry the title of DogLovers. Although it is not exactly a word that we will find in Wikipedia, we all understand it as the hobby, dedication, and love for dogs. Not only do we like all things dogrelated, but we feel a superior love that leads us to special behaviors such as these 10 on our list:

10 REASONS THAT GIVE YOU AWAY AS A DOG LOVER 1. You consider your dog a member of your family. For many of us, our dog is not simply a dog. He is one more member of the family! We include them in our outings and travel plans. In the monthly budget to fill their needs as health, food, and care. In the photos of the family album. We count them when they ask us how many of us are at home. They have a special place assigned to sleep, a special drawer for their things and you might even consider them a “dog-child”.

your car, a magnet, a mug, a notebook, a key ring, a shirt, or some element that identifies you as a complete dog lover.

2. You talk to your dog. Dogs are such a great companion to many people. Not only do they give us their sweet looks and physical presence, but they can also receive comments and conversations from us. They say that dogs manage to understand a good number of words, but also many of us believe that they understand us much more. We even explain to them if we are going out and that we’ll be back soon. We say goodbye to them when we leave and make recommendations that they behave. We explain why they cannot eat something, and we could even make reflections with them about what is happening to us daily.

7. You love movies, TV commercials, and everything that has dogs in them. You get hooked on advertising campaigns that include dogs in them. You love to see dogs as part of a movie and even more so when they are the main characters, so you cry non-stop when something bad happens to them. You belong to Facebook groups for dog lovers, or follow accounts with videos, memes and funny photos. You are subscribed to a magazine or newsletter with related information.

3. You like to buy things for them other than those which cover their basic needs. You might say dogs only need water, food, shelter, and preventive medicine. But we dog lovers like to pamper them a little more and we are attentive to new inventions. We are on the constant look for toys we know they may like or dress them in original clothes and according to special dates. And we like accessories which make them look more cute and beautiful. 4. You don’t limit yourself to physical contact. If you are a true dog lover, you don’t mind that your dog licks your face, gets on your bed, and steals your snacks. We proudly wear our clothes filled with their hair and we don’t mind even petting other dogs no matter how clean or not they may be. 5. You like to wear and buy things for yourself that show your love for dogs. You wear the title of Doglover with pride and make it visible. Maybe you have a sticker on

6. You have hundreds of pictures of your dog on your phone. You have a photo album and you show them to others with pride. You keep their picture as your wallpaper on your phone and your computer. You probably have even opened an instagram account and post daily pictures of your furry child.

8. You attend dog events. If you are a Doglover you go to events such as bazaars, festivals, exhibitions, and fairs; and you know the best parks and places where you can spend time with them. Surely you are looking for pet-friendly establishments. 9. You celebrate special dates with your dog. Surely you will have in mind your dog’s birthday or the record of the memorable day that you rescued them or the day they came home. Dates such as Halloween and Christmas are also important to celebrate with them and dress them up according to the occasion. And for sure they get their own gifts to open up in the holidays! 10. You have an agreement with your dog. You know that you will take care of them even when they get old. You will have patience with them. You will provide for all their needs. You will always treat them with love. You will train them. You will live gratefully for their presence in your life and give them unconditional love. Which do you identify yourself with?

The Poodle is a very popular breed. Not only are they undeniably beautiful but also they carry qualities like not shedding, extremely smart and a friendly and calm temperament. This has been the main reason why breeders have been encouraged to cross them with other breeds and create new versions which today we find booming! Poodle mixes come in a variety of sizes: Standard or large, medium, miniature toy or mini and cup of tea. The most popular poodle mixes start with the Golden Retriever and the Poodle which makes the Goldendoodle to steal everyone’s hearts. Absolutely beautiful, a sweet personality and a perfect match for a guide dog. The Labradoodle of British origin has as parents the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle or Medium Poodle. Due to its temperament, it is used as assistance and therapeutic dog and because its coat makes it hypoallergenic. Berniedoodle results from his crossing with the Bernese of the mountain that is normally the mother. It is a beautiful dog of black, white, and reddish colors with the curly hair of the poodle. He is affectionate, cheerful, very familiar, intelligent, and somewhat restless and playful. Bassetoodle results from crossing with the basset hound. It is medium-size where we will see less frizzy and a texture, face, and ears more inclined towards the basset. It is a very intelligent, calm, and quiet dog. The Bichpoo is the cross between the Bichon Frize and the Poodle. They are also called Poochón, perhaps because they have a lot of curly hair. They are very affectionate and friendly, and it is recommended to educate and socialize them especially so that they do not become very barking. The Chipoo is the product of the crossing of the Poodle with the Chihuahua, who is also called Wapoo, Chipoodle, or Choodle.

And likewise, it is naughty, but they are very loving and great companions. The Jackapoo is the cross between Jack Russell and the Poodle. A playful crazy guy with hunter instincts so he needs a lot of exercise and activity. Like a good Jack Russell, you have to socialize them from a young age so that they get along with other dogs. The Pekingese was a dog that had not been seen much lately, well, now it has taken center stage with its cross with the poodle to become the Peekapoo. They are small, affectionate, furry, and perhaps a little grumpy. The Maltipoo is a cross between a Maltese and a Poodle and is considered a friendly and easy-to-train dog. However, he is also prone to developing the medical problems suffered by his parents. One of the favorites is the Cavapoo, the product of the crossing of the Cavalier King Charles and the Poodle. They are beautiful, loving, active, playful toys, and excellent companions. These spectacular breeds can range from $ 2,000 to $ 8,000 on average. But beware, these so-called “design dogs” that are achieved by crossing two purebred dogs to create a more attractive breed, with better health and hypoallergenic, often entail pain and suffering, they can have medical and psychological problems as a result of their crossing. For example, Labradors have hip problems, and Poodles have the vision, so Labradoodles could inherit these genetic consequences of crossing.

“For every perfect dog, you’re going to find a lot of crazy dogs,” said Wally Conron, the breeder of the first designer dog in the 1980s. You cannot cross dogs for money, and you have to be very careful not to be complicit in traffic and indiscriminate reproduction when there are so many dogs pending adoption. If you want a purebred dog, make sure you meet the parents, and select a kennel that is not part of exploitation and abuse for business.
