In the Land of Oz Judith Quaempts They walk our town for hours, two innocents who wander endless city canyons hand in hand. They walk looking down as though they fear the ground will disappear. Or maybe to ignore the voices, voices we are lucky not to hear. Once I saw them stop, saw him gently, oh so gently, stroke her hair. Her eyes came up and fixed on his. The wonder there! That shared glance stopped my breath. I had no right to witness it. Two lost people hand in hand, two people lost but holding on to wonder.
