RUSSIAN JETS DESTROYED After Firing at UFO

U.S. vs Russia vs China

PREFACE: The National Defence Authorisation Act has replaced the acronym “UFO” (Unidentified Flying Object) with “UAP” (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena): “In an attempt to get away from the stigma and assumptions of little green men that persist when people think of UFOs.”

In this exclusive report to The Paper, “UFO” will mostly be used, synonymously, with “UAP” since UFO is the preferred acronym most com-

monly used, and recognised by a national and global reading audience.

“UAP” will occasionally appear within the confines of direct quotes recorded under oath from individuals who were cross-examined at a recent U.S. Congressional hearing investigating UFOs and their possible threat to both national security, as well as their possible existential threat to the American public.

UFOs ARE, SECRETLY, A REQUIRED STUDY BY MAJOR NATIONS TODAY.

That UFOs have already caused great international concern has made their study a requirement for all nuclear-armed nations. America, China, England, France, Israel, and Russia have, for many years, secretly conducted their own research programmes regarding UFOs and their possible existential threat.

BACKSTORY

UFOs were viewed, during the John F. Kennedy administration, as an extreme danger of accidentally trigger-

ing an all-out nuclear war between the Soviet Union and the United States.

In a recently declassified memorandum dated 12 November 1963 and stamped “TOP SECRET,” Kennedy sent a message to the Central Intelligence Agency under the subject: “Classification Review of All UFO Intelligence Files Affecting National Security.”

President Kennedy’s memo raised grave concerns over UFO activity which could endanger world peace

by being mistakenly identified as incoming nuclear ICBMs.

Kennedy proposed a mutual programme of recognition of UFOs between both the Soviet Union and the United States and ended his memorandum with: “This will help mission directors in their defencive responsibilities.”

Sadly, before Kennedy’s UFO programme could be initiated, he would be assassinated 10 days after submitting the above CIA memo.

DECLASSFIED FILES REVEAL UFOs NEARLY CAUSED WWIII, WHICH WAS “COVERED-UP” TO PREVENT PUBLIC PANIC.

Since UFOs -- with their startling and unprecedented speed and velocity – closely resemble possible incoming enemy ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles), they have heightened global tension and nearly caused global devastation – a fact that has long been covered –up to preclude public panic, worldwide.

Shocking declassified Top Secret files have revealed that UFOs nearly triggered World War III on mul-

One day, a blonde went into an appliance store that was having a sale on TVs. She walked up to the counter and said to the clerk, “I would like to buy this TV.”

The clerk replied, “Sorry, I don’t sell to blondes.”

So, the blonde dyed her hair brown and returned the next day. Again, she went up to the counter and said, “I would like to buy this TV.”

Again, the clerk answered, “Sorry, I don’t sell to blondes.”

Puzzled, the blonde asked, “How did you know I was a blonde?”

The clerk replied, “Because that is a microwave.”

tiple occasions.

For example, in 1982 – when a squadron of fast-moving UFOs were detected on the Soviet Union’s military radar defence shields, they were viewed as a possible pre-emptive, nuclear first-strike against the Soviet Union by the United States (since the UFOs emanated from our direction).

In this particular scenario, Soviet nuclear ICBMs were quickly activated and pointed towards the West for retaliatory launch . . . but the squadron of incoming UFOs suddenly veered off course and the Kremlin breathed a sigh of relief. This was during the leadership of Leonid Brezhnev, who passed away later that same year, on 10 November 1982.

The ongoing tensions which UFOs create among nations, continued, unabated, finally causing USSR leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, to openly state: “The phenomenon of UFOs does exist, and it must be treated seriously!” (Soviet Youth Magazine, 4 May 1990.)

On 20 November 2003, between 9:00 and 9:20 a.m., radar from both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the North American Aerospace Defence Command

Alabama

A group of Alabama friends went deer hunting and paired off in twos for the day. That night, one of the hunters returned alone, staggering under the weight of an eight-point buck. “Where’s Henry?” the others asked.

“Henry had a stroke of some kind. He’s a couple of miles back up the trail,” the successful hunter replied.

“You left Henry laying out there and carried the deer back?” they inquired.

“A tough call,” nodded the hunter. “But I figured no one is going to steal Henry!”

(NORAD), which are the two federal agencies that work together to ensure the safety and security of North American airspace, suddenly detected unknown radar targets, referred to as UFOs, within “highlyrestricted airspace” above the U.S. White House.

President George W. Bush and First Family were quickly ordered to evacuate to an underground bunker below the White House.

NORAD scrambled two U.S. fighter aircraft to engage, but the UFOs “shot-off” at a blinding speed, far beyond the capability of any known human aircraft! Fox News, Reuters, and CNN covered the story to a global audience.

It has been postulated, that if the United States government does, indeed, have physical information of UFO vehicles and their occupants, this information would exist at the very highest possible level of security, even more so than our nuclear or atomic weaponry.

The motivation behind all major countries plunging into secret UFO research programmes are all based on inter-country suspicions, military paranoia, and hostile mindsets. As one U.S. Pentagon official stated: “Much of the motivation for this in-

A senior at Louisiana was overheard saying ... “When the end of the world comes, I hope to be in Louisiana.”

When asked why, he replied, “He’d rather be in Louisiana because everything happens in Louisiana 20 years later than in the rest of the civilized world.”

RECENTLY, U.S. CONGRESS HEARD HISTORIC TESTIMONY ON UFOs.

On 26 July 2023, the U.S. Congress Oversight and Accountability subcommittee held a historic hearing on UFOs, which was televised to a national viewing audience, as a gesture of congressional transparency.

Aside from a national television viewing audience, this highly anticipated event was open to the public, and many people waited for hours to secure a firsthand seat to witness and hear sworn testimony, under oath, regarding the nature of UFOs.

The passerby asked, “But what’s with the flowers?”

The man responded, “When you break down they tell you to put flares in the front and flares in the back. I never did understand it neither.”

The driver replied, “Bout whut?”

The Sheriff pulled up next to the guy unloading garbage out of his pick-up into the ditch.

spy balloons from China or Russia (which were easily shot down by our jet fighters between 28 January and 4 February of 2023).

Nor are all UFOs easily ‘explainedaway’ as natural phenomena, such as spy balloons, meteors, satellite flares, nocturnal light mirages, or high altitude clouds which often resemble saucers.

UNDER SWORN CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY.

Since every respective individual was legally sworn-in, under oath, they were extremely careful not to commit perjury – under the letter of the law -- before the U.S. Congress, especially during cross-examination when they were asked to clarify their narratives.

Appearing before the U.S. Congress in this historic event, were Ryan Graves (executive director of Americans for Safe Aerospace), retired Air Force Major David Grusch, and retired U.S. Navy Commander David Fravor, along with many others.

They all presented evidence and answered direct Congressional hearing follow-up questions on what they knew about the UFO phenomena.

What you are about to read, both startled and elicited loud gasps from people in assemblage.

RUSSIA’S CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS FROM U.S. INTELLIGENCE & OTHER KEY SOURCES WAS STUNNING.

One key witness was George Knapp, a long-time UFO researcher who has been looking into the issue of UFOs for decades. In the 1990s, Mr. Knapp travelled to Russia and developed sources, including the person at the head of the official Russian agency that handles UAP (aka UFO) reports.

“Russia’s programme is likely the biggest investigation ever undertaken. Untold thousands of case files have been accumulated over the years,” Knapp testified under oath.

One official Russian UFO research programme ran from 1978 to 1990. Some Russian UFO studies date much older than that.

Some are still in existence under classified status in 2025.

Mr. Knapp’s testimony provided insight into how other countries are handling UAP incidents, viz. Russia.

Unlike most Western countries, Russia is alleged to be overly des-

perate and aggressive in its radical attempts to gain vast military superiority over other global nations, in its efforts to gain alien technology.

(Clarification: Examples of Western countries include: the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, and most countries in Western Europe, as they are considered to share cultural and historical ties rooted in Western European traditions.)

RUSSIAN JET FIGHTERS GIVEN COVERT

ORDERS TO SHOOT DOWN SUSPECTED ALIEN SPACE CRAFT.

According to Mr. Knapp’s sources, Russia has given covert orders for its jet fighter pilots to shoot down suspected extraterrestrial space vehicles, so that any super-advanced alien technology may be retrieved and applied for Russian military use.

(Note: Most Western countries, such as the U.S., have their military pilots primarily observe, but not engage UFO vehicles in hostile action – without reasonable cause – since, out of caution, and the preservation of human life -- their weapon capability is unknown.)

Entered into the Congressional Record was Russia’s own UFO guidelines which is clearly and officially stated in the following redaction (translated from the original Russian):

“In the case of verifying actual paranormal (or space alien intelligence), any acquired extraterrestrial technology is to be applied directly for military use.”

As the Congressional hearing proceeded, it was made known that the Russian government is not only researching UFOs, but also encountering them in vast numbers, according to a letter by investigative journalist George Knapp which was entered into the U.S. Congressional record.

The letter claims that on 45 different occasions, the Russian military sent fighter jets to approach and attempt to shoot down suspected other-worldly UFOs so that their advance science may be harvested which, ostensibly, could make Russia invincible.

In addition to the letter outlining Russia’s UFO agenda, Knapp also was able to, personally, interview several key Russian personnel.

According to Knapp: “Nearly all of the witnesses who were interviewed were military personnel. Many of the incidents described to me by the

About Town

I couldn’t be happier or more proud than I was when I learned that Jim Desmond, U.S. Navy Veteran, retired Delta Airline Pilot, and District 5 San Diego County Supervisor, has officially announced his candidacy for Congress in California’s 49th District.

I’ve known and supported Jim for years . . when he was a council member in San Marcos, then Mayor, then 5th District Supervisor.

I have long said that Jim has earned your vote for a more powerful elective position. A resident of North County for over 35 years and the

Letters to the Editor

Dear Lyle,

Ever wonder why Friedrich Gomez has such a rabid following here and parts of Europe? Look no further than your current cover story “Mark Twain a Racist? No Way!” Beautifully written and emotionally moving through the eyes of a little 5th grade boy when he (Friedrich) first heard of Mark Twain. And it made me cry with joy how Friedrich grew up and defended Mark Twain as NOT being a racist!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for equality, but this current “Woke Culture” has, quite frankly, sickened me at how quickly they toss around the “racist” label and, as you can see, Friedrich set the record

Desmond emphasized the growing challenges in the 49th District, saying, “It’s becoming unbearable to live in California. The cost of living is driving working families and seniors out of this state.”

Jim Desmond has built a distinguished record of service as the North County Supervisor and Mayor of San Marcos for over 12 years, where he has consistently delivered results, prioritized public safety, supported families and seniors, and fought for our military community. straight with irrefutable facts. God love him because he has the courage to stand up against movements like “Black Lives Matter” which clearly have over-stepped their boundaries of fair play and human decency. I can only imagine how much they must vilify Friedrich for just telling the truth. I cannot stress enough how this new Woke movement has frightened many White Americans into silence, for fear of saying the wrong thing and losing their jobs, as Friedrich has pointed out in past cover stories such as “Adults Fired for Childhood Mistake” (8/12/21 issue) which I kept and still treasure! And his “Splash Mountain Disneyland/Disney World Ride Closed Down as Racist -- The Other Side of The Story” (3/22/23 issue) and yes, we readers don’t forget! How big Corporation like Disney can quickly bow down without telling the truth is repugnant and cowardly, all because they’re afraid today to defend themselves.

God bless you Lyle for allowing Friedrich the forum to speak out and give a voice to the majority of us Americans. No, we’re not dumb nor do we forget and I’ve saved these articles for my teenage kids to read and learn what they won’t teach in school.

Sound trivial? It’s not. How did

Extraordinary and insightful cover story on “SD First People” in The Paper (1/16/25). Ancient cultures surrounding Stonehenge and the Incas of Peru who studied astronomy are always fascinating. But Stonehenge was only 5,000 years ago and the Incas Empire in Peru even more recent at just over 500 years. It’s incredible that San Diego’s accurate primitive astronomy sites on various mountaintops actually predated both Stonehenge and the Incas by several millennia and from a prehistoric people during the Ice Age. Whenever I needed help within our 5th District I knew I could always count on Jim and his outstanding staff to address my needs and concerns. He’s never failed me. Not once.

I also took note of the fact that, even when there was no election scheduled for the near future Jim was still always out in the District, meeting people, helping people and being a voice for the people. I’m particularly impressed with his strong support to keep violent sex offenders from being housed in San Diego County once released from prison. He is always on top of critical issues in San Diego County. He goes up against Democrat Mike Levin. It is most certainly a time for change and Jim Desmond deserves your vote. He has the absolute endorsement of The Paper and its editor and publisher. He’s a good man . . . the type of man you

Mr. Knapp went on to say:

“Colonel Boris Sokolov said there have been 45 incidents in which Russian warplanes engaged with UFOs, chased them, even shot at them. In most incidents, the UFOs just shot away at unbelievable speeds! But, in one incident, the three Russian warplanes (that open-fired on the UFOs) were instantly destroyed, crashed, with only two of the three different pilots killed outright. One pilot, miraculously survived.”

(NOTE: Reports of countries, such as Russia, or Iran, and others chasing and shooting down extraterrestrial spacecraft are fabrications suited for the naïve, and have long been discounted and not given sober consideration.)

“Yes sir, absolutely. They (UFOs) were threatening Navy pilots during our military training exercises (aka simulated war games) that I, and my people were involved, in 2015. And it’s my understanding they (the UFOs) are risking pilot safety -- commercial, and military today -- with aerial maneuvers nearly closing mid-air collisions.”

REP. And we’ve seen that they’ve gone after our technologies and, in some cases, succeeded -- in particular with our missile technology, and, so again, my concern is whether this technology emanates from us or other-worldly. And that if we possess it – where is the accountability? (i.e. safety to our military personnel.”)

Over the past several weeks, I’ve heard from countless San Diegans asking the same critical questions: Could what happened in Los Angeles happen here? Are our reservoirs full? Is our brush cleared? Do we have enough water resources to combat a firestorm?

These concerns are valid, and they require immediate answers. The devastating fires in Los Angeles

strengthening san diego’s fire Preparedness

are a stark reminder that we cannot afford to wait until it’s too late. That’s why, at our upcoming Board of Supervisors meeting, I am bringing forward a comprehensive plan to enhance San Diego County’s wildfire preparedness—because ensuring our community’s safety must be our highest priority.

Wildfires don’t wait, and neither can we. My proposal calls for immediate action to:

Expand firefighting resources –Acquire an additional twin-engine helicopter and new water tenders to ensure we have the equipment necessary to fight fires day and night.

Assess regional vulnerabilities –Conduct a full review of open spaces, reservoirs, and water infrastructure to ensure we have the necessary resources to combat wildfires.

5th District Supervisor Jim Desmond Travel Troubleshooter

Demand accountability and coordination – Bring together all relevant agencies, including the San Diego County Water Authority and fire districts, to publicly present a detailed wildfire preparedness report.

Evaluate the current capacity and reliability of water supplies for firefighting, particularly focusing on the adequacy of water available in fire hydrants during peak demand. This includes upgrading infrastructure, increasing the number of water mains, ensuring reservoirs and treatment plants can meet emergency demands, and adding additional heli-hydrants for faster aerial water deployment.

Insurance and Financial Recovery – Work with state regulators to ensure that insurance policies remain available and affordable in high-risk fire areas.

We need to examine why insurance companies are withdrawing coverage or drastically increasing premiums and push for potential state law revisions to protect homeowners.

We’ve seen historic wildfires devastate California in recent years, and San Diego is not immune. Los Angeles relied on modern twin-engine helicopters and mobile water tenders to contain fires before they spiraled out of control. Meanwhile, San Diego’s emergency response teams are still operating aging, single-engine helicopters from the 1960s and 1970s. This is unacceptable.

do i really have to pay this $450 cleaning fee from budget?

Q: I rented a car from Budget for our family trip to Niagara Falls for 10 days. We also drove to Toronto and Montreal. After I returned the car, I received a bill for $450 for cleaning for what it called “excessive dirt and sand.”

I called Budget today using the customer service number provided in the bill. When I spoke to the representative I asked for pictures to substantiate the claim. Once Budget sent them, I refused to authorize the charge to my credit card. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the representative said that I would be entered into a queue and should expect a call back in 24 to 48 hours.

I don’t think I should have to pay a cleaning charge. The amount of debris left behind would be vacuumed during their normal processing of a vehicle to the next renter. Can you help me?

~ Joseph Hall, Brooksville, Fla.

A: I agree with you that $450 is too much for a cleaning fee. Yet Budget and other car rental companies have been charging these fees to drivers, and often for what appears to be a normal cleaning.

Question is, was this a normal cleaning?

Budget’s initial answer is yes --

and no. After I began working on your case, a Budget representative contacted you and offered to lower the cleaning price to $150, which is much more reasonable.

You also sent me the pictures of the car. Clearly, you had taken the vehicle on a 10-day family vacation in it. There was sand on the floor, and although you say you had cleaned the car, it appeared there was more cleaning to be done.

What does your rental agreement say? Under the terms and conditions of your rental (section 2.6 (c)) it says you will have to pay a rea-

sonable fee” for cleaning the vehicle’s interior or exterior for “what we determine in our sole discretion are excessive stains, trash, dirt, soilage, odors, or pet hair after the vehicle is returned.”

In other words, Budget gets to say what is dirty, and it gets to set the cleaning fee. Unfortunately, the company also doesn’t offer any guidance for renters about what constitutes above normal use. Is it a few candy wrappers? A little dust from that memorable hike in the red rocks of Sedona? A few sea shells from your Sanibel beach adventure? Who knows?

You called Budget to negotiate the cleaning fee reduction, but it is also a good idea to put requests like this in writing. When you write to a car rental company, you create a paper trail, which is often essential in getting a fair resolution. You can always appeal your case -- again, in writing -- to someone higher up at Budget. I list the names, numbers and email addresses for the Budget customer service executives on my consumer advocacy site, Elliott.org.

I reviewed the photos of your vehicle. It brought back memories of my family vacations with young kids, a few of which were in Canada. There’s no doubt that there was some sand and dirt left in the car. I would have found a vacuum cleaner before returning the vehicle. You never want to give a car rental company an excuse to charge you extra.

Just to make sure, I also checked with Budget. My contact at the company confirmed: “The charge is valid.” You appealed the charge and Budget agreed to lower the cleaning fee to $75. Good work!

There are times in one’s life when unexpected pleasures come flooding in. I’ve had several of those occasions, one of them occurring back in 1979, while a cast member of the venerable stage play, “The Philadelphia Story” at the Patio Playhouse in Escondido.

I was cast as Uncle Willie, one of the supporting characters. The movie version was a favorite of mine and just about anyone whose ever seen it. The 1940 Oscar-winning film featured Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Ruth Hussey as the cynical photographer Liz Imbrie.

One of my friends at the time told me Miss Hussey lived in Carlsbad and possessed the popular actress’ phone number. She had played the photographer character, for which she was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actress, It occurred to me it would be something of a coup to have the popular star at one of our Escondido stage performances. I called her and she graciously accepted without hesitation – and, she asked if she could she bring some of her Hollywood friends? I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough.

Ruth Carol Hussey, born October 30, 1911, in Providence, R.I., worked as a model before landing a number of stage roles with touring companies. MGM signed her to a players’ contract and she made her film debut in 1937. She quickly became a leading lady in MGM’s “B” film unit, usually playing sophisticated, worldly roles. In 1941, exhibitors voted her the third-most popular “new star” in Hollywood. But it is her Oscar-nominated role as photographer Liz Imbrie in “The Philadelphia Story” she is most remembered.

In 1942, she married talent agent and radio producer C. Robert “Bob” Longenecker at Mission San Antonio de Pala here in San Diego’s North County. They raised three children: George Robert Longenecker, John William Longenecker, and Mary Elizabeth Hendrix.

an audience To remember

Following the birth of her children, Miss Hussey focused much of her attention on family activities and in 1967 she was inducted into the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame.

In 1977, she and her husband moved from their Brentwood family home to Carlsbad. Bob Longenecker died in 2002 shortly after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

Their son, John Longenecker, is a cinematographer and film director. He won an Academy Award for producing a live-action short film. “The Resurrection of Broncho Billy” (1970). At age 23, he was the youngest producer in Hollywood to ever have won an Oscar.

During Miss Hussey’s long career, she made more than 60 films and numerous radio and television appearances.

Besides the 1940 classic, other notable films Miss Hussey starred in included working with Robert Taylor in Flight Command (1940), Robert Young in Northwest Passage (1940), Van Heflin in Tennessee Johnson (1942), Ray Milland in The Uninvited (1944), Alan Ladd in The Great Gatsby (1949), and Clifton Webb in “Stars & Stripes Forever (1953). In 1960, she co-starred with Bob Hope in “The Facts of Life.” Miss Hussey also was active in early television dramas such as “Marcus Welby, M.D,” “The Jimmy Stewart Theater,” “Jane Wyman Presents,” “Studio One,” “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “The New Perry Mason” show, and many others TV productions and commercials.

She also was active in her church and was noted for painting in watercolors. Although she was a lifelong Democrat she did vote for Republican Thomas Dewey in 1944, and for Hollywood friend and former co-star Ronald Reagan in the 1980 and 1984 presidential elections.

On the night Miss Hussey and her entourage arrived at the Patio Playhouse, I introduced the young 18year-old actress playing the pho-

tographer’s role to Miss Hussey. (Unfortunately, the years have robbed me of the young lady’s name.) While the youngster had never seen the Academy Awardwinning movie, nor had any idea who the Oscar-nominated star was, Miss Hussey graciously praised the young girl for her Patio performance. This was at a time before video cassette recordings, so being able to go out and rent or buy the original Hollywood production was impossible.

Among the friends Miss Hussey brought that evening was her film producer-husband Bob, Dick Simmons (Sgt Preston of the Yukon), and three other familiar character actors, whose names unfortunately I don’t recall… if I ever knew them. But the actors accompanying Miss Hussey that evening

were easily recognizable by

such as

At that time those Hollywood refugees all lived in the Rancho Carlsbad community just off El Camino Real.

Ruth Hussey died April 19, 2005 at the age of 93, from complications from an appendectomy and was interred in Westlake Village, California.

During the years after that night in Escondido I had a number of encounters with Miss Hussey, but I always was fascinated with her performance in “The Philadelphia Story.” The dumbest question I ever remember asking her during one of those meetings: “Did you ever work with any ‘big name’ actors?” Duh … how stupid could I have been.

should you go into debt for your next vacation?

Can you afford your next vacation?

Be honest.

If you said no, you’re in good company. Last year’s big travel trend was the “justified vacation” or “justi-vacation,” which is when someone takes a vacation despite not being able to afford it. In a survey conducted by Allianz Partners, 47 percent of Americans said they couldn’t afford a vacation, but a majority of them traveled anyway.

Another survey by Bankrate found more than 1 in 3 travelers were willing to go into debt to pay for it.

“Taking on debt to pay for a vacation is not a smart decision,” says Steven Kibbel, a certified financial planner. “Credit card interest rates are high, typically 20 percent or higher.”

That means your dream vacation could cost you a lot more than you bargained for.

Look, people have been going into debt to finance their vacations since there have been vacations. But now they’ve gone too far. Americans owe more than $1 trillion in credit card debt, driven in part by a voracious appetite for miles. And many see putting their vacation on plastic as a “win-win” -- they get the instant gratification of a trip now, plus “free” miles they can use for a future trip.

Going into debt for a vacation is not the best idea. It’ll hurt your finances, stress you out and probably leave you in need of another vacation. There are much better ways of dealing with a trip you can’t afford.

“Never, ever, ever go into debt to travel,” says Suzanne McConaghy, an expert on travel finances. “Make a plan, set a goal, save your money -- and then go.”

OK, but why?

going into debt To Travel is Crazy

The allure of a picture-perfect vacation, often fueled by social media, can quickly lead you astray. Admit it, those images of Instagrammers enjoying a five-star resort, paid for entirely with “free” miles, is irresistible.

It’s also a lie.

There’s no such thing as free. True, travel hackers are racking up points and miles with each debt-

funded stay. But they’re also playing a dangerous game. If you don’t pay off your balance in full every month, the interest charges will quickly negate the value of any rewards you earn. It’s a fool’s errand.

“Taking on any form of debt can significantly increase your stress levels,” says Jeremy Clubb, founder of Rainforest Cruises, a tour operator that specializes in riverboat and small ship cruise packages in the Amazon and Southeast Asia. “That often outweighs the relaxation and mental wellness travel is meant to provide.”

I interviewed dozens of travelers for this story, some of whom insisted that taking on debt to travel was sometimes justified. They said for special occasions or once-in-alifetime events like a honeymoon, it is indeed appropriate to go into the red. Some even claimed the points made it all worthwhile.

To which I say: nonsense! In fact, the more special the occasion, the more financially conservative you ought to be. Who wants to spend the first year of your marriage drowning in debt?

How do you afford a vacation, then?

I’m going to give it to you straight: The best way to ensure a stressfree vacation is to live within your means.

“Try being more creative about how you travel,” says Jeremy Murchland, president of Seven Corners Travel Insurance. “For starters, think about why you want

trip so that you don’t spend too much.

If you don’t want to use your smartphone on vacation, you can always invite a friend who is in the latter group -- those who never spend. (That would be my brother.) They can spend the entire trip telling you, “no.”

And if you are in the former group, this story is not for you. You will never overspend on your vacation. I should have interviewed you for this article.

other Ways To avoid Vacation debt

OK, how else can you steer clear of vacation debt? Here are a few ideas:

Take A Staycation

to travel. Unless your heart is set on a certain destination, you might find some alternative ways to achieve your vacation goals without setting yourself back.”

In other words, plan ahead and explore alternative options that don’t require going into debt.

I know the travel advisors of the world will hate me for saying this, but maybe consider a staycation, visit local attractions, or take a road trip to a nearby destination.

But what if you want to go somewhere pricey?

Mitch Krayton, a professional travel advisor from Denver, says you should save for a big trip.

“Sweep $100 to $200 a week automatically from your checking into a special checking account,” he advises. “When you are ready to travel, you book with cash in hand. You not only will feel better that you can afford the trip, but you won’t have the letdown a month after you come home to a large bill.”

Don’t spend more than you have. It’s that simple.

You Need a Vacation budget

There are two types of travelers: Those who spend as little as possible and those who don’t know the meaning of the word “budget.”

If you’re in the latter group, listen up: One of the best ways to avoid overspending is to create a budget. Apps like TravelSpend or Trabee allow you to visualize your expenses, track them, and plan your

Spend a week exploring your own town. You might be surprised at what you discover. “Staycations can sound horrible,” says Sam Hohman, CEO of Credit Advisors Foundation. “But if as much planning goes into them as a destination vacation, they can be really memorable and personally restorative.”

Travel during the off-season. “Anywhere you desire to see is going to be just as great during its off-season,” says Christopher Falvey, cofounder of Unique NOLA Tours. “But it will be less crowded and less expensive.” So you get the same experience for less -- just because you waited a few weeks.

Abbreviate Your Vacation

“If all you just need is a break –and who doesn’t? – figure out how you can enjoy time off without it costing you much money,” says Erica Sandberg, a consumer finance expert at CardRates.com. For example, a weekend getaway instead of a two-week adventure may be enough to recharge your batteries. And it’ll save you time, too.

So, the next time you’re tempted to book that dream vacation on credit, remember this: A trip paid for with debt is a trip you can’t afford. Instead, focus on saving and planning. You’ll enjoy your vacation more knowing you’re not coming home to a mountain of bills.

An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle.

She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her lungs, “I have a gun, and I know how to use it! Get out of the car - NOW!”

The four men didn’t wait for a second threat.

They got out and ran like mad.

The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into the driver’s seat.

She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried, and then she realized why.

It was for the same reason she had wondered why there was a football, a Frisbee, and two 12-packs of beer in the front seat.

A few minutes later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down.

She loaded her bags into her own car and drove to the police station to report her mistake.

The Sergeant to whom she told the story couldn’t stop laughing. He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a carjacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair, and carrying a large handgun.

No charges were filed.

Moral of the story?

If you’re going to have a senior moment ... make it memorable.

The Pastor Says . . . What Now?

The inauguration day has taken place. Donald Trump has been installed as our 47th President. The event was somewhat anticlimactic with the frigid weather. We were privileged to witness the signing ceremony and catch a glimpse of the First Lady’s attire and her fashionable hat. That hat became the subject of just about every newscaster, which was amusing. We were also privileged to see some of the billionaires our President has on his staff. We witnessed his first official act of signing various executive documents, which seemed to be an act of protest against the orders of the previous President.

Along with all this was granting pardons to over 1,500 people, again in response to the previous President’s pardons. It seemed to be a kind of get-even show. One could say it was a time for forgiveness and mercy with little regard for the offenses. Donald Trump included a few jibes against our former President in some of his comments. Still, it was all done in good taste out of respect for the office, depending on how one took it. It seemed to be a statement that all will be well in the future by leaving the mess of the past as we venture into the golden age of American history. America will be greater again as we correct past mistakes, and all of us can look forward to the best of all times; such is the word on the street.

These are colossal aspirations that we can expect to be a part of. How will I fit into this superstructure run by people of such wealth and power? With the power of all that money and influence, we live with the old adage, “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Do we need to fear this? Will I become a participant or a victim? We live with the maxim, “We will have to wait and see, and whatever will be will be.”

Do you think this is the right approach? Do we merely sit back and let what is to happen happen? Will we allow others, i.e., those in power and influence, to determine the course of our lives? Or do we have a part to play in the destiny of this country and our own lives? Nation after nation has had to answer this question, but sadly, it is too late. One must be careful of the golden tongue of oratory. We all want a golden age with the blessings of the gold. But that pursuit can be dangerous. There is the voice of Scripture that the love of money and even prosperity is the root of all evil. Suppose one fails to reach for the golden scepter without common sense, integrity, wisdom, truth, and principle. In that case, it will end up in greed, exploitation, ease, and pomp, with the masses becoming poorer and the rich becoming richer. History has proven this over and over again.

I am not a prophet of doom and gloom. I believe sincerely in being

In 1980 724,000 personal computers were sold in the USA. In late 1981 IBM introduced the PC and by yearend 1982, annual PC sales had quadrupled to over 2.8 million units. By 2001 over 50% of American homes had at least one PC and annual USA sales topped 49 million units. Most government, corporate and educational institution PCs were attached to powerful servers on LANs (Local Area Networks). Nearly all small business and home users however, still used PCs in “stand – alone” mode relying on locally installed software applications. The Introduction of the IW (Intelligent Web) with high speed access and AI (Artificial Intelligence) in 2001 began to change everything.

The availability of powerful servers and high speed Internet began to erode the need for local speed storage and power on home and small business PCs. Software engineers rapidly designed network

My dog, Cashew, goes almost everywhere with me. When I run out to get gas, she rides along. A drive along the beach? She’s in the back seat.

versions of popular home and small business applications. These PCs began the general transition from “stand alone computers” to “ smart Internet terminals”. As the need for speed and storage capability was transferred from local PCs to Internet servers, PC prices fell and useful lifespan increased. In 2008 American PC sales peaked at about 75 million units and began a long, slow decline.

By 2023 PC sales in the USA totaled only 66 million units but because of their increased longevity, the number of PCs in use continued to rise.

To the adult DIs (Digital Immigrants) of the first decade of the 21st century, the IW was simply the latest step in man’s effort to improve access to his knowledge. The IW was a source of information useful in serving their decision making process. DIs had formed their cognitive process through traditional learning methods and sources. The younger DNs (Digital Natives) had spent their pre-adult years with computer and smart phone access to the IW. The fundamental difference in the way DIs and DNs view the IW is a primary source of today’s “generation gap”.

For DNs, the IW was always there providing answer to questions and solutions to problems. With PCs and their constant companion the “smart phone”, the IW was always available becoming internalized as a part of their own cognition. The IW could provide answers with a lower energy expenditure than the alternative of mentally processing internally stored data bases. The use of the IW reduced the need to

store and catalogue information. Reliance on Internet data bases for answers and solutions relieved DNs of the necessity to store and catalogue information locally, an energy intensive process. The easy availability of answers on the IW also reduced the need to “figure things out” using internally stored knowledge and cognitive resources. Recent IQ tests indicate a measurable reduction in cognitive abilities (IQs) among DNs. At least part of this decline is attributed to the DNs increasing reliance on the IW for answers as a substitute for internal cognitive process (figuring things out). The “use it or lose it” factor appears to be in play.

Throughout human history we used technology to developed tools from stone axes to space ships, to

compensate for the limitations of our physicality. The effect this technology on us has been gradual and spread over millennia. Today we seek ways to overcome the limits of our minds with technology.

The IW is the combination of artificial intelligence with the massive linked data storage of the Internet.

Established in 2001, it portends to exceed the cognitive ability of man in many if not all endeavors. As technology has enabled mankind to overcome his physical limitations, it appears that technology will allow us to also overcome the limitations of our mind. But the triumph of AI over our internal cognition seems to be on a greatly reduced time line. Has it already begun to make noticeable changes in us?

Before I get to the shelter, I drop her off at Kamp Kanine Daycare for Dogs. It’s way better for her than lying in my office, sighing to remind me she’s bored.

Cashew LOVES other dogs. When we walk into Kamp she greets every dog she sees. Then she runs down the ramp to the play yard she shares with her best dog friends.

She’s obsessed with Huskies. As far as we can tell, she’s never lived with a Husky. There’s no Husky in her DNA. There was never a Husky in the foster homes where she stayed before we adopted her.

When she sees a Husky, or even a dog who looks like a Husky, she gets all goofy. She wiggles her way over to them and gives them kisses. If they pay attention to her,

she drops to the ground and looks up at them, adoringly. It’s a little embarrassing.

So, if she’s not a Husky and never lived with a Husky what’s the deal?

Google says, “If your dog really likes huskies, it’s likely because they share similar playful and energetic traits with them, making

them exciting companions to interact with; most dogs enjoy the high energy and enthusiasm that huskies often bring to play sessions, regardless of their own breed.”

One website said other dogs like Huskies because they’re soft. One guy said Huskies like other Huskies. Another Husky owner said his Husky is obsessed with Pomeranians.

My favorite post said some dogs are attracted to certain breeds because they have a “type.” That includes how the other dogs smell, their body language, whether they’re friendly, and if they have outgoing and social personalities.

I still don’t have an exact answer, other than to say that my little girl has a “thing” for Huskies.

RUSSIA’S WEAK CIC (COMBAT INFORMATION CENTRE) & POOR ELECTRONIC WARFARE SYSTEMS EXPOSED IN UKRAINIAN CONFLICT.

U.S. and Allied Intelligence sources never miss an opportunity to assess military capability under real conditions. That is how we are trained.

And from the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, it has been a classic textbook lesson on just how inept and poorly equipped Russia’s electronic warfare systems truly are.

A fact which embarrassed the Kremlin on the world stage.

From the very beginning of the Ukrainian invasion on 24 February 2022, Russia’s Intelligence reports had to quickly begin a ‘propaganda war’ frantically dispelling its poor military might, which was supposed to be among the mightiest on the planet.

The Russian warship Moskva, the “Pride of their fleet,” the Moskva, the ultimate flagship of the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet whose sinking shocked the world – including the Russian regime itself, and which Russian Intelligence said the news rocked Vladimir Putin into being speechless and in complete shock and total disbelief. To the point where Putin had to (repeatedly) ask other sources, if the sinking of the mighty Moskva was, indeed, true.

The mighty and highly-touted super advanced Russian electronic warfare system was completely impotent and powerless in trying to defend the Moskva against two modified R-360 Neptune anti-ship missiles.

Putin’s Regime fabricated the story that the mighty flagship caught fire and was not hit by missiles, but, the truth could not be contained as world news penetrated even the darkest corners of Moscow and throughout Russia, despite being banned on official state television.

PUTIN’S “UNSTOPPABLE HYPERSONIC MISSILE” HE THREATENS TO USE IN WWIII PROVES HUGE EMBARRASSMENT.

If Putin were Pinocchio, his nostrils in Moscow would be extending into the North Escondido region by now. His latest embarrassment on the world stage was his unveiling of his supposed invincible and “unstoppable hypersonic missile” which he threatens to use in any WWIII scenario.

Putin launched these mighty missiles in the Ukrainian conflict to spread sheer terror and merciless havoc as a sampling of restrained anger. Instead, the end result was reported in the 24 December 2024 Global Defence Corp, with the following assessment:

“Putin’s unstoppable hypersonic missiles gaining bad reputation as Ukraine shooting them down every time they are launched.”

Again, Putin is once again, deeply humiliated on a global stage before a global audience.

AND WHAT ABOUT CHINA’S LARGEST NAVAL FORCE IN THE WORLD? FEROCIOUS ON PAPER, BUT IN REALITY ONLY A “PAPER TIGER.”

According to Aritra Banerjee, brilliant writer in Eurasia Review (1/5/25 issue), China’s naval expansion has been nothing short of staggering, and I agree with her assessment. In a relatively short time, China has succeeded in having the largest navy in the world.

But size is not enough, just as with Putin’s prized warship, the Moskva.

In the case with China, their navy is an awesome sight to behold especially as it flexes its maritime muscles in the controversial Indo-Pacific. But, with China’s maritime behemoth, there are many hidden peccadilloes. And indispensable ones, which give this giant, rubbery feet.

The crews and the ships have never been battle tested, which is a far cry from war games.

Also, as with Putin, the electronic warfare is highly suspect and antiquated, and it goes without saying that efficacious technology is quintessential. It is the lifeblood in any conflict. No matter how large is China’s maritime fleet -- it makes a nice postcard but any modern U.S. nuclear carrier strike force could easily erase China’s fleet in one fell swoop, within minutes, without fully flexing all its arsenal from under, surface, and airborne.

And no country on Earth has anything near or close to our electronic warfare capability. Our CIC shields are virtually impenetrable, and in the offense posture – virtually no ECM (electronic countermeasures or “jamming”) has any viable affect against us.

Our ultra Top Secret CIC (Combat Information Centres) one each on every U.S. warship, as well as Airborne EWAC radar defence shields, and even sub-surface, are formida-

AND THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW, I can’t boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face. Disfiguring me for life.

I no longer go to the movies because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS when I sit down.

I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.

And I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica , Uganda , Singapore , and Uzbekistan.

I no longer buy cookies from Woollies since I now have their recipe.

If you don’t send this message to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon, and the fleas from 120 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump. Even President Donald Trump was so stunned and amazed at our nuclear submarine capability that he once breached security by openly speaking of just how close our nuclear subs can approach any enemy Russian or Chinese submarine without them even being able to detect us via any advanced electronic sensors and sonar.

If anything, our potential enemies must’ve been in total disbelief that such technology was even conceivable – let alone possible!

One analysis calls China’s fleet a “Paper Boat Navy: A Colossus At Risk of Capsizing.”

In contrast to Russia and China who often boast of their capability, the

U.S. typically maintains a low profile. We speak softly, but carry a big stick – which scares the cider out of our adversaries, believe me. Relative silence from us just turns the dagger of suspense within their bosoms.

Same with cyber warfare. We just let our adversaries talk a big game, and we just give them all the limelight and publicity. And keep our yap – relatively, shut.

Ergo, we only constantly hear how China or Russia uses various cyber attacks to try to disrupt or infiltrate and influence our political elections in various degrees, or stoke division within our population via social media platforms. And on a daily basis we hear about their moles, their spies, their suspected covert information gathering via Tik Tok and on and on.

So, with such high-profile (publicized) cases of Chinese and/or Russian “eaves dropping” in our 24/7

news, well, such nonstop news “floods the zone” and shapes public opinion – often inaccurately.

As a result, if you were to ask someone to name the Top Ten most powerful cyber nations in the world, most Americans might quickly surmise that the obvious answer would be China and/or Russia.

A shocking reality to the layperson is that the United States -- by far -- out-paces every advanced nation on Earth. All based on the Harvard Belfer Center’s National Cyber Power Index, which ranks countries based on their cyber capabilities today in 2025 -- along with our declassified Intelligence Report.

It may surprise the layperson that of the 195 countries in the world today, with 193 countries being members of the United Nations, that the Netherlands, Australia, North Korea, Iran, and France make this short list – ahead of Israel, India, and Pakistan (which have nuclear weapons), and ahead of Japan, Canada, Spain, and Italy.

In transmission order, with No. 1 being the top position, herewith are the Top 10 Most Powerful Cyber Nations in the world:

1. United States

2. China

3. Russia

4. United Kingdom 5. Australia 6. The Netherlands

7. North Korea

Vietnam

France

Iran

That the United States is not thought of as No. 1, often serves to our advantage. Our covert operations are thus doing a splendid job in keeping our cyber power low key.

SPECIAL DEDICATION

I’d like to dedicate this cover story to a very special reader fan named Ms. Mildred Koenig of Escondido, age 101. I am blessed to have a lot of fans here and as far away as Germany (Deutschland) and the U.K. And I treasure you all. But I’ve never been so honoured than when my Dad (editor lyle e. davis of The Paper to everyone), called and told me I had a fan letter from a Ms. Mildred Koenig, age 101, of Escondido, Her kind card brought tears to my eyes and I felt truly humbled and honoured. Perhaps next week, I’ll make another dedication to another fan.

Till then, God bless you all, each and every one!

proactive and not reactive. We can spend a lifetime finding fault with the Government. I suspect many will continue to do that regardless of who sits in Washington. The most significant danger is that we do nothing but complain. That action has never changed. There have been revolutions to change governments, but the results have almost always been disastrous. A better way is not to let the Government dictate but instead for us to live lives of influence and example as a model for those who lead us. What better way to live than to be the light, the salt of the earth, and people of righteousness and truth, examples of holiness, and God’s law of love? We are used to looking to the Government for just about everything. Perhaps under this new regime, it is time for those who are our leaders to look to us for a quality of life that will truly give us the golden age we need. This is our opportunity for WHAT NOW?

time, a little girl whispered to her mother, ‘Why is the bride dressed in white?’’

The mother replied, ‘Because white is the color of happiness, and today is the happiest day of her life.’

The child thought about this for a moment then said, ‘So why is the groom wearing black?’

A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class. As she ran she prayed, ‘Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late! Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late!’ While she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress. She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again! As she ran she once again began to pray, ‘Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late, But please don’t shove me either!’

tion there with school buses that brought in zillions of kids that day, plus the hordes of domestic and foreign tourists. Many fun interactive exhibits made adults become children as they played along, side by side testing their knowledge! Amazing how The Paper can keep coming up with startling news like this! Kudos to editor and publisher, Mr. Lyle Davis and staff writer Friedrich Gomez.

Lyle,

“San Diego’s First People” was perhaps the best scholarly cover story yet! Who would’ve thought our San Diego region had such an extraordinary beginning! Keep up the great work! The Paper never ceases to amaze us out here in Reader Land. Our son took several copies to school to show his teachers and they were stunned and delighted!
