A Tempo ( q = 60)

** In a small orchestra with two or three cellos, the sustained notes should be played by one player. In a larger orchestra, at least half of the section should play the lower part while the rest divide the sustained notes more or less equally. What is most important is that the pulsations in the lower part be clearly audible right to the end of the piece.
