The dimly lit room inside Seneca College’s Great Hall was popping with glitter and colour as 14 event management graduate students showed off their designs at the Inspired Spaces tabletop competition at Newnham campus. The annual event showcasing the students’ original work was on display in 10x10 booths, and served as opportunity for new talent to be discovered by industry professionals. Each student had to choose an event to plan and a venue to host it, with a budget of $300 to create their setting. Supplies not purchased were loaned for free by various event rental establishments. Having recently watched Oz the Great and Powerful, Yana Makarova was inspired to create an Alice in Wonderland-themed birthday party. >>>COMPETITION, page 6
